Mumbai, October 12 - Superstar Aamir Khan's comedy-drama film Laal Singh Chaddha may have underperformed at the box office but it is being loved by the audience on Netflix which is the official streaming partner of the movie. ## Directed by Advait Chandan, the film was digitally streamed on Netflix from 6 October 2022 in Hindi and dubbed versions of Tamil and Telugu languages. It arrived way early on the streamer than the original plans, mostly because of its low performance at the box office where it grossed approx. 134 crores worldwide. ## On Netflix, "Laal Singh Chaddha" was the second most-watched non-English film worldwide in its opening weekend. It scored 6.63 million viewing hours in the first three days and was the most-watched Indian movie during the week (October 3 - 9) on Netflix. Even with over 130 crores worldwide, the movie badly underperformed considering the high stake involved in it. ## "Laal Singh Chaddha" was largely affected by boycott calls from a section of people who claimed to have been hurt by Aamir's past actions through his movies. Mumbai, August 19 - Bollywood superstars Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar's Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan, respectively have completed an extended opening week at the box office and numbers are something that industry had never thought about. ## The combined collection of both the films is around 90 crores net, which is not even close to what trade had predicated before the release. ## "Laal Singh Chaddha", which is the remake of the Hollywood classic hit "Forrest Gump", has been a bigger disappointment as its first-week collection (~ 50 cr) couldn't even cross the opening day numbers of Aamir Khan's last film "Thugs of Hindostan" which scored 50.75 crores net in 2018. ## Directed by Advait Chandan, the overseas collection of the film is somehow respectable with close to 50 crores gross (not final) but the domestic box office is forgettable, to say the least. The negativity around the film before its release also played a massive role in its disastrous fate even though the reception for the film was mixed. ## On the other hand, Akshay Kumar-fronted "Raksha Bandhan" too couldn't get going despite the positive word of mouth. The stakes for the film were low but it still performed underwhelmingly, especially knowing the fact that it has a perfect holiday period to outshine the underfire LSC. As a result, RB scored approx. 39 crores net while the overseas collection is approx. 8 crores, for the worldwide gross total of the film at 54 crores after 8 days. ## The Bollywood industry has now pinned its hopes on the next big release, which is director Ayan Mukerji's magnum opus "Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva". Mumbai, August 16 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan-fronted Laal Singh Chaddha has been underwhelming so far at the box office, and reports have claimed that the producers will bear heavy losses for the same. Meanwhile, Viacom 18 Studios has denied reports about distributors demanding compensation for the dismal performance of the film. ## The producers have claimed that "Laal Singh Chaddha" has no external distributors as the studio itself is distributing the film. "There are no external distributors. It's being distributed by Viacom18 Studios, and no money is lost in the first place. The film is still running in theaters both in India & internationally. This is baseless speculation", said Ajit Andhare, CEO of Viacom 18 Studios.## It is to be noted that Aamir Khan doesn't charge an upfront fee and normally relies on backend revenue. The budget of the film is not as much as reported in the media and according to the TOI, Laal Singh Chaddha will probably break even, once ancillary revenue is taken into account. ## An exhibitor from North India said, "Most studios don't sell their territories, it is always distributed directly. Even if we try asking for the rights, it is too expensive for us. Mumbai, August 15 - The box office misery for Bollywood continues as Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar-fronted Raksha Bandhan failed to get the benefit of a long holiday period. These two films were expected to bring some relief to the Hindi film industry but they performed underwhelmingly over the 4-day opening weekend. ## Talking about Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha, the film faced multiple challenges due to the boycott calls and mixed word of mouth also didn't help the cause. The remake of the Hollywood classic blockbuster Forrest Gump, "Laal Singh Chaddha" scored 37.96 crores net collection in the first 4 days, which is the lowest opening weekend total for an Aamir Khan film (lead role) since 32.25 crores of "Ghajini" (3 days).## At the overseas box office, the Advait Chandan-directed film has performed better than the domestic market and has grossed 43 crores so far. The worldwide cume total of the film reached 88 crores after 44 days. The movie is produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Aamir Khan Productions while Paramount Pictures distributed the film in international markets.## On the other hand, Akshay Kumar-fronted family comedy-drama film, Raksha Bandhan also met the same fate as LSC.
