SS Rajamouli To Make His First-Ever Appearance At An American Festival

Los Angeles, September 7 - The maverick Indian filmmaker, SS Rajamouli is making his way to his first-ever US festival. The filmmaker will be hosted by Los Angeles' Beyond Festival, which has announced today the presence of RRR filmmaker as part of a special Tollywood programming, "From Tollywood to Hollywood". ## Built-in partnership with the American Cinematheque, the special programming will honor the revolutionary Indian director, featuring Rajamouli's multiple films presented in their native Telugu language with English subtitles, including Baahubali: The Beginning, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, Eega, Maryada Ramanna, and Magadheera. ## According to the Los Angeles Times, the first-ever official US festival visit of Rajamouli could also kick-start "RRR's" Oscars campaign, which has been hyped heavily by the Hollywood media. While Rajamouli has delivered blockbuster after blockbusters, he got international recognition after the recently released epic action film "RRR". ## Rajamouli will also be available for a Q&A session which will be held after a nine-hour marathon of Baahubali: The Beginning, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, and Eega, taking place on Saturday, October 1. Hyderabad, September 7 - On the occasion of Power star Pawan Kalyan's birthday last year, director Surender Reddy announced his maiden film with the superstar. It was supposed to roll out in early 2022, however, due to unknown reasons, further development on the movie never took place. ## It has been more than a year since the movie, tentatively titled PSPK 29, was announced. Reports claimed that the movie has been shelved over creative differences but that is not true as the producer of the film has finally provided the next course of development for the movie. ## Ram Talluri, who will produce this action drama film, recently said in an interview that the movie will happen for sure and that it has not been called off. He stated that it was temporarily put on hold due to Pawan Kalyan's busy schedule with movies and his political ambitions. ## The producer also stated that Surender Reddy is currently busy with his next film titled "Agent" with Akhil Akkineni. That movie is scheduled to release later this year and after he is done with Agent, Surender Reddy will shift his attention to the film with Pawan Kalyan. It will go on floors next year. ## Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan will next be seen in his maiden Pan-Indian film with director Krish, titled "Hari Hara Veera Mallu". 'Liger' Distributor Backs The Movie Despite Heavy Losses

Hyderabad, September 5 - Vijay Deverakonda's sports action drama film, Liger has tanked at the box office. This resulted in heavy losses to the distributors who bought the movie at high prices. The Puri Jagannadh-directed film was made on a big budget and was expected to do well at the box office, but that didn't happen. ## "Liger" opened to disastrous reviews from critics who slammed the movie left, right, and center, as if the movie didn't deserve to exist. Because of the critics' reviews, the movie couldn't gather any momentum after the opening day and ended up with just a 20% recovery of total investment. ## With such a poor response to the movie, it would be fair to assume that the distributors across languages are upset with the makers. However, this is not the case as Warangal Srinu, who bought the entire South Indian rights of "Liger", has backed the movie despite facing heavy losses. ## Warangal Srinu has said that "Liger" is a good film except for the climax. A lot of portions in the movie were excellent, except for the climax of the film. The makers later roped in Pooja Hegde to play the female lead and the shoot had already begun as it was announced for the August 3, 2023, release. ## However, everything has changed since their much-hyped "Liger" misfired completely. "JGM" was planned to make into a much bigger budget, however, according to the latest Telugu media reports, the movie has now been shelved until they gain enough confidence to go ahead with it. ## It is said that the budget of "JGM" was too high to proceed with it after "Liger's" failure. Box Office: Pawan Kalyan's 'Jalsa' Re-Release Worldwide Collection

Hyderabad, September 3 - Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan's all-time blockbuster Jalsa returned to the big screen to celebrate his birthday. The special shows of Trivikram Srinivas-directed action comedy were arranged across Telugu states and international locations on September 1 and 2.## "Jalsa" was re-released on over 500 shows worldwide, which is an all-time record for an Indian movie as far as the special shows are concerned. The movie also did exceptionally well at the box office and brought in higher numbers than most of the new releases opening day numbers. ## The movie collected approx. 2.60 crores gross in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, including approx. 1.26 crores from the Nizam area while the rest of India's collection of the movie is around 20 lakhs. These are all-time record collections for an Indian movie's re-release for one-day. Overseas, "Jalsa" scored approx. 30 lakh ($37600) from the USA box office from 26 locations while from 5 locations in Australia, it collected approx. 6 lakh (A$10960). ## The total worldwide collection of the film is around 3.20 crores gross, and the entire collection will be used for charity. It is said that they are also considering the budget of the movie and want to keep it in check, unlike "Liger" which cost over 100 crores. A lot of changes are likely to happen in the script.## Meanwhile, in other news, it has been reported that after the huge failure of "Liger", Puri Jagannadh has shelved "JGM" for now and is looking to work on "iSmart Shankar 2". However, this is not true as JGM is very much happening and the shoot was already started earlier this year. Tollywood Re-Introduces 8-Week Theatrical Window For All The Movies

Hyderabad, September 1 - The Tollywood film industry has re-introduced an 8-week theatrical window for all the films, releasing after September 10th. The decision was taken by the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce after multiple meetings over the last couple of weeks. ## The Telugu film chamber also announced in a statement that a film's satellite and streaming partner will not be mentioned in the film titles/theatrical release publicity. ## It has been observed that filmmakers revealed their films' satellite and OTT partners before the start of the film in theaters, which may have tempted moviegoers to wait for the OTT release of the film which was within 28 days of theatrical release till now. ## The film chamber has also decided to cancel the per-day payment system for the artists/technicians from September 10th. All artists' remuneration shall include - staff, local transport, local accommodation, special food, etc. ## Meanwhile, the film chamber hasn't reached any conclusion regarding the VPF charges despite multiple meetings. It is reported that the distributors are in big shock as they invested a lot of money in the hope that it will give them the best return, which is not going to happen. ## However, in a gloomy time for the distributors, director Puri Jagannadh is once again coming to their rescue and taking full responsibility for the film's failure. As per the industry insiders, Puri Jagannadh will compensate Liger distributors and buyers and will meet them in the coming days. ## This is a very nice gesture by the filmmaker who is a well-respected person in the Telugu film industry. Hyderabad, August 31 - Actor Nikhil Siddhartha's mystery action-adventure film Karthikeya 2 has entered the coveted 100 crores gross club at the worldwide box office with today's collection, becomes only the 4th Telugu movie of 2022 to achieve the milestone after Bheemla Nayan, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, and RRR. ## Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, "Karthikeya 2" has had trouble getting released in theaters but it overcame all the challenges to become one of the biggest blockbusters in Telugu cinema. For a medium-range Telugu movie, "Karthikeya 2" is only the second film of all time in Tollywood cinema to reach the 100 crores mark after Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna's "Geetha Govindam". ## However, unlike "Geetha Govindam", K2 has had simultaneous Hindi release with the Telugu version and it has hugely benefitted from the Hindi version with a gross collection of approx. 30 crores, in addition to approx. 58 crores in the Telugu version at the domestic box office.
