Jr. NTR Reacts To 'Devara' Pre-Sales Record In North America

Mumbai, September 10 - One of the most-awaited films of the year, Telugu superstar Jr. NTR-fronted action drama Devara - Part 1 is breaking pre-sales records in North America as it already crossed $1 million for the premiere even before the trailer was launched.## It is said that no other Indian film in the past breached $1 million in pre-sales in North America before the trailer was launched and Devara is the first to achieve this feat which speaks a lot about the hype around the movie, not just in India but outside as well. ## Jr. NTR, at the trailer launch event of Devara in Mumbai on September 10, reacted to the record-breaking response to the film in advance sales. The actor said that they had nothing to do with it as it is the love of the fans and audience which is pouring in the form of pre-sales. Chennai, September 10 - Thalapathy Vijay's action thriller The Greatest of All Time has crossed 300 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office, becoming the second movie of the actor to achieve the feat after last year's Leo. ## Directed by Venkat Prabhu, The GOAT topped 300 crores worldwide gross after scoring approximately 22 crores gross on its 5th day for around 303 crores. With this, it has outgrossed the lifetime total of Bigil (295 crores) and Varisu (297.50 crores) to become Thalapathy Vijay's second-biggest grosser. ## The GOAT is performing very well at the home state, Tamil Nadu where it has so far grossed approximately 120 crores in 5 days. The rest of the domestic market has been underwhelming with 58 crores gross, for 178 crores total India gross. ## Overseas, The GOAT is exceptional with approximately 125 crores gross collection which is the second highest for Vijay after Leo's 204 crores gross collection. Leo is also the biggest worldwide grosser of Vijay with approximately 606 crores gross. ## The GOAT is the 7th Tamil movie of all time to enter the 300 crores gross club, after 2.0, Leo, Jailer, Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 and Part 2, and Vikram. Los Angeles, September 10 - Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios' much-anticipated Spider-Man 4 is officially in development and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton has been handed over duty to direct it, per The Hollywood Reporter.## Amid the speculation of who would take up the role to direct one of the biggest Hollywood films in the making, Cretton is set to lend the job. The filmmaker will bring fresh blood to this iteration of Spider-Man. Tom Holland will return to reprise his role as the web-slinger in the upcoming film. ## Destin Daniel Cretton will be the fourth director to direct a Spider-Man movie. Earlier, Jon Watts directed the previous three Holland-starring movies, while Marc Webb helmed the two Amazing Spider-Man movies that starred Andrew Garfield. Sam Raimi directed the trilogy that featured Tobey Maguire. ## The production of Spider-Man will commence in early 2025, and according to rumours, it will be released in July 2026, a couple of months after Avengers: Doomsday, which will be directed by the Russo Brothers. Interestingly, Cretton was supposed to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (now Avengers: Doomsday), but was dropped amid the project's changing production schedule. ## Meanwhile, Cretton also has Sang-Chi 2 and a live-action adaptation of Naruto in the pipeline to direct. Chennai, September 9 - Thalapathy Vijay's action thriller The Greatest of All Time sees a drop of around 60% on its first Monday, which is a working day from Sunday, which was expected due to mixed word of mouth and huge first-weekend collection. ## The drop could have been even bigger if not for the home state, Tamil Nadu where the movie remained solid by holding close to 50% collection on Sunday. According to the early estimates, The GOAT is expected to score in the range of 13-14 crores gross collection on its 5th day/first Monday in Tamil Nadu. ## The total collection of the film in Tamil Nadu is around 120 crores in 5 days. Chennai, September 9 - One of the biggest Tamil films of the year, Thalapathy Vijay's action thriller The Greatest of All Time had a fantastic first-weekend collection in the home state, Tamil Nadu and overseas box office, however, the movie is not performing in other parts of the country. ## Other than Tamil Nadu, The GOAT has heavily underperformed in other states of India, especially in Telugu and Hindi states where it has grossed just around 23 crores of gross collection. The performance of the movie in Telugu states is shockingly poor as Thalapathy Vijay's previous few films did well there. ## While the audience outside Tamil Nadu is not loving the movie, director Venkat Prabhu has made a weird excuse for the film's failure in Telugu and Hindi. During a recent interaction, the filmmaker stated that due to the references to the IPL cricket team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the movie, it is not working in Telugu and Hindi. ## The rivalry of CSK with Sunriseres Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, which has massive fan-following nationwide, is well known, and director Venkat Prabhu feels that because he supports CSK, the audience of Telugu and Tamil are staying away from watching the movie. ## This is a funny excuse by a seasoned filmmaker as the movie, unfortunately, is not resonating with audiences. Chennai, September 9 - Thalapathy Vijay's action thriller The Greatest of All Time has become the 8th movie of the actor to cross 100 crores gross collection in the home state, Tamil Nadu after the excellent 4-day first weekend. ## Directed by Venkat Prabhu, The GOAT scored approximately 106 crores gross in the state. It opened to a huge 29.50 crores gross in TN upon its Thursday release, followed by a fantastic hold on Friday with approximately 21.50 crores, while Saturday and Sunday collections were 27 and 28 crores gross, respectively. ## As said, it is Thalapathy Vijay's 8th 100 crores gross in Tamil Nadu. Mersel (2017) was the first film of Thalapathy to breach this milestone. After Mersel, the Leo star has done 7 films (Sarkar, Bigil, Master, Beast, Varisu, Leo, and The GOAT) and all of them went to the top 100 crores gross in the state. ## Vijay is the undisputed king of the Tamil Nadu box office and has delivered every time irrespective of the reviews. This is by far the biggest opening weekend for a Tamil title of 2024 and one of the biggest of all time. ## The Venkat Prabhu's directorial is showing a fantastic hold everywhere, especially in the home state, Tamil Nadu, and the overseas territories. The first Sunday domestic collection of The GOAT remained flat, but still huge by every means with an estimated 40 crores gross (34 crores net) in all versions.## The total domestic collection of The GOAT is around 161 crores gross (137 crores net), per estimates. In Tamil Nadu, the movie remained rock solid and has crossed 100 crores gross in just 4 days. Chennai, September 8 - Thalapthy Vijay's action thriller The Greatest of All Time had a sensational third at the worldwide box office. The movie, despite the mixed reviews, is being massively driven by the stardom of Vijay at the box office. ## Directed by Venkat Prabhu, The GOAT scored approximately 66 crores gross globally, including 39 crores in India on its third day/first Saturday. With this, the total worldwide collection of the movie is 221+ crores gross after three days which is the highest for a Tamil movie of 2024. ## The GOAT, however, became the biggest Tamil grosser of the year on its second day itself after beating Dhanush-fronted action thriller Raayan which grossed approximately 154 crores worldwide. Mumbai, September 7 - 2023 was the year completely dominated by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan with three big box office blockbusters. It all began with his comeback film, Pathaan before Jawan outdid it with its phenomenal performance, followed by the third success of the year in the form of Dunki. ## Pathaan redefined the stardom of Shah Rukh Khan by becoming his first 1000 crores gross grosser before director Atlee's Jawan took it to the next level and turned out to be one of the biggest Pan India blockbusters of all time. Jawan has turned a year old after getting unleashed at the box office on this day (September 7) last year.## The action thriller was one of the first major collaborations between a South Indian director and a Bollywood superstar in recent times, and this collaboration turned out to be one of the most talked about for redefining the mass genre in Indian cinema. It was mounted on a huge scale and featured many mass moments to turn the theatres into stadiums.## Jawan was a box office phenomenon from day 1 and it broke several records in India and overseas. As said, it scored the biggest opening (75 crores net) for a Bollywood film, followed by the biggest first week of all time for Bollywood and one of the biggest in Hindi.## The box office juggernaut of the movie continued beyond the first week and eventually turned out to be the biggest Bollywood blockbuster domestically. In the original Hindi language, it is the highest-grossing movie ever with 582 crores net collection (687 crores gross) while its worldwide collection is 1160 crores gross. ## Jawan is the second highest-grossing Bollywood film worldwide of all time after Dangal which grossed approximately 1300 crores in China out of its 2070 crores worldwide cume. Without China (which is not a regular market for Indian movies), the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer is by far the biggest Bollywood grosser ever. ## The movie got some criticism for being based on outdated topics, but at the same time, it was praised for showing the burning issue of corruption in the massiest way possible. Apart from the performance of the star cast and Atlee's direction, the film's major highlight was Anirudh's music which elevated the scenes perfectly. ## As said, the extraordinary performance of Jawan (along with Ranbir Kapoor's Animal with Sandeep Reddy Vanga) opened the door for more collaboration between South Indian filmmakers and Bollywood stars as this is being seen as a major success formula at the box office.
