Mumbai, May 16 - In 2023, music composer Anirudh collaborated with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan for the action thriller Jawan, directed by Atlee Kumar. The movie was a huge box office success and Anirudh's BGM got high praise among the mass audiences. ## According to the latest report by Pinkvilla, Anirudh is set to reunite with SRK for his next film titled King. To be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, King will mark SRK's daughter Suhana Khan's big-screen debut. ## "King is a one of its kind action thriller, that will introduce a new flavour of action to the audience. Shah Rukh Khan, Siddharth Anand and Sujoy Ghosh understand the importance of BGM for a film in this space and have roped in the best in business – Anirudh", says the report. ## King is produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix. The pre-production is happening in full swing and the makers are aiming to take the movie on floors by August this year. The movie scored 3.2 million views in its opening weekend on Netflix and allied to the second week, the total viewership reached 9.8 million views in 10 days. ## Shaitaan was the second most-watched non-English film worldwide during the week of May 6 - May 12 on Netflix. It is currently trending in the top 10 in 26 countries, including number 1 India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, UAE, Bahrain, Pakistan, Maldives, Oman, Bangladesh, and Mauritius. ## Aamir Khan's production venture, Laapata Ladies continued to be in the top 5 most watched non-Engish titles on Netflix for the third consecutive week. Mumbai, May 15 - Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Netflix series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar: Season 1 didn't show any improvement in the viewership in its first full week after the underwhelming 5-day opening weekend viewership. ## The period drama show, which started streaming on May 1st, scored 4.5 million views in its opening weekend (April 29 - May 5) which was underwhelming given the massive budget of over 200 crores. With not-so-encouraging reviews and audience reception, the viewership dipped in the second week.## In the week of May 6 - May 12, Heeramandi scored 4 million views, pushing its total viewership to 8.5 million views and 62.3 million viewing hours in 12 days. The show, however, continued to remain the second most-watched non-English series on Netflix for the second week in a row. ## The series is trending in the top 10 in 32 countries in its second week. It is currently the number-one show in India, along with UAE, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Oman, Pakistan, Bahrain, Morocco, Mauritius, Maldives, Pakistan, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bangladesh. ## The series is about the lives of tawaifs in the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore during the Indian independence movement against the British Raj. Chennai, May 13 - Actor and filmmaker Sundar C's Aranmanai 4 has become the third Tamil movie of 2024 to top 50 crores gross collection at the Indian box office after Dhanush's Captain Miller and Sivakarthikeyan's Ayalaan. ## Starring Tamannah Bhatia and Raashii Khanna in the leading roles, the 4th instalment of the horror-comedy franchise minted approximately 49.30 crores gross in India through the second weekend and on its 11th day (2nd Monday), it has topped the 50 crores gross mark. ## The Tamil version of the film has contributed approximately 45 crores gross while the Telugu version scored around 4.30 crores gross in 10 days so far. The movie is likely to become the highest-grossing Tamil title of the year by crossing Ayalaan (58.75 crores approx.) and Captain Miller (58 crores approx.)## It has been a much-needed success for Kollywood which was going through a dry phase in the absence of big star films. Mumbai, May 13 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn's supernatural thriller Shaitaan has almost done with its theatrical run but not before emerging as a big box office success in India and worldwide. The movie has now been made available to stream online, after 8 weeks of theatrical run. ## Directed by Vikas Bahl, Shaitaan minted approximately 50 lakh in its 9th week (the first week after the OTT release) and it dropped further in the 10th weekend for just around 8 lakh net collection. Nonetheless, the movie has done more than it was once projected with a net collection of close to 150 crores. ## At the end of its 10th weekend, Shaitaan scored approximately 148 crores net (176 crores gross) which will more or less be its final total at the domestic box office. It is currently the second highest-grossing Bollywood movie of the year domestically after Hrithik Roshan's Fighter. ## Overseas, the movie has grossed an estimated 37.50 crores, for worldwide approximately 213.50 crores gross. Again, it is the second highest-grossing Bollywood title of 2024 after Fighter which grossed over 350 crores worldwide. Mumbai, May 12 - Disney's Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes opened on the projected lines at the worldwide box office with a strong $131 million in its first 5-day weekend. ## At the domestic (North America) box office, the fourth instalment in the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise grossed a solid $58.5 million (488 crores) over a 3-day weekend. The movie's opening is the second biggest in the rebooted franchise, behind only Dawn of the Planet of the Apes which opened to $72 million. ## While the domestic opening of Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes was slightly higher than the projection, the overseas collection of the movie fell a little short of the projection but was still solid with $72.7 million (607 crores) over the 5-day weekend, for $131.2 million (1095 crores) global start.## China was once again the biggest international market for the movie with $11.6 million, followed by France ($7.6M), and Mexico with $6.4 million. Mumbai, May 11 - Disney's science fiction actioner Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has had a good start at the Indian box office, taking a bigger opening than its predecessor, War For The Planet Of The Apes back in 2017. ## Directed by Wes Ball, the fourth instalment in the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise scored approximately 3.75+ crores gross (3.15 crores net) opening in India. The previous film in the franchise took the opening of around 3 crores gross collection. ## Meanwhile, at the domestic (North America) box office, the film is looking at $21 million -$22 million on Friday opening day, which also includes $6.6 million on Thursday previews. The previews for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes are the biggest in the franchise. Mumbai, May 11 - In the wake of the mega box office success of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, a new film in the MonsterVerse has officially been tapped at Legendary/Warner Bros. Studios, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter.## According to THR, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings screenwriter Dave Callaham has been roped in to write the script for Godzilla x Kong's follow-up. Director Adam Wingard is expected to return at the next film in the series, however, the filmmaker has no deal at this stage. ## Godzilla x Kong, which was released in March, has performed excellently at the worldwide box office. In its 6th week, Crew scored approximately 2.10 crores net (2.50 crores gross) pushing the total collection to 80.90 crores net (95.50 crores gross) in 42 days. ## Overseas, Crew has grossed an estimated 55 crores for worldwide 150+ crores. The movie will be looking to finish around 155 crores gross which makes it one of the biggest box office successes of the year so far for Bollywood. Kochi, May 9 - Fahadh Faasil's action comedy film Aavesham has become the 4th Malayalam movie to top 150 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office, after Manjummel Boys, 2018, and Aadujeevitham - The Goat Life. ## Directed by Jithu Madhavan, Aavesham has grossed an estimated 150.50 crores worldwide in 28 days. In India, the movie has minted approximately 96.10 crores, including 74.15 crores at the Kerala box office while the overseas collection is an estimated 54.50 crores.## Aavesham is the third Malayalam movie of 2024 to top 150 crores worldwide gross after Manjummel Boys (240.50 crores) and Aadujeevitham (157 crores). Mumbai, May 8 - It has been a struggling ride for Bollywood star Ajay Devgn's sports biopic Maidaan at the box office. Despite the advantage of the Eid holidays, the movie opened to a poor collection and never bounced back despite the open run. ## Directed by Amit Sharma, Maidaan has topped the 50 crore net mark on its 29th day which is no longer a milestone. Ideally, the current total of Maidaan should have been its opening weekend collection given the Eid holidays but that is a gone case. ## Eid has always been a lucrative festival for Bollywood regarding the box office as Salman Khan films have historically done well on this particular festival, however, 2024 proved different as both big releases, Maidaan and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan bombed without even putting up a fight. ## With the bombing of Maidaan and BMCM along with other films also not doing well, the month of April has been a nightmare for theatres with not much return.
