Thalapathy Vijay's 'Ghilli' Re-Release Sees Blockbuster Response

Chennai, April 21 - Thalapathy Vijay's one of the biggest blockbusters, sports action film Ghilli has had a re-release worldwide on April 20 and the response has been the same as it was 20 years ago when the movie opened to houseful boards in theatres. ## There has been a dearth of box office successes for Tamil cinema this year, and filmmakers and distributors have been re-releasing older blockbusters to get some sort of outcome. Thalapathy Vijay is easily the biggest name in Tamil cinema and with the re-release of the film, he proved his box office pull once again. ## As far as the tracked collection is concerned, Ghilli scored 3.40 crores gross in India, and as per the estimates, it minted a fantastic approximately 7.75 crores gross at the worldwide box office, including around 4.75 crores in India and 3 crores overseas which is higher than most of the new releases featuring bankable stars not just in Tamil but in other languages.## Among the South Indian re-releases, Ghilli had the biggest opening, beating Mahesh Babu's Business Man which scored around 5.25 crores gross worldwide. Jr. NTR's Simhadri is at number 3 with around 4 crores worldwide opening.## In its original box office run back in 2004, Ghilli grossed over 40 crores worldwide (as per Wikipedia) against a budget of around 8 crores and was one of the biggest Indian hits of that year. Mumbai, April 20 - Director Kabir Khan's comedy-drama Bajrangi Bhaijaan is one of the most loved films of superstar Salman Khan. Released in 2015, the movie won several accolades and was a big box office blockbuster with a worldwide gross collection of over 900 crores. ## The film was a massive success and won the hearts of the audiences with its emotional story, penned by Vijayendra Prasad. Salman Khan delivered an emotionally charged career-best performance in the film and now, there is good news regarding its long-awaited sequel. ## Over the last few years, there have been talks about Bajrangi Bhaijaan's sequel and it seems it will finally be a reality soon. During a promotional event for actor Ayush Sharma's film Ruslaan, producer KK Radhamohan said in the presence of Vijayendra Prasad that the script of BB2 is ready to which the writer agreed. ## The filmmaker further revealed that Vijayendra Prasad will narrate the script of the sequel to Salman Khan soon and if all goes well, the production will start soon. However, he noted that he isn’t producing Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2.## Apart from Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2, producer Radhamohan also revealed that the writer has written two stories for him, and one of them is Vikramarkudu 2, which is Rowdy Rathore 2 in Hindi. Yami Gautam-Starrer 'Article 370' Final Worldwide Box Office Collection

Mumbai, April 19 - Yami Gautam-fronted political thriller Article 370 has completed its box office journey with a worldwide collection of over 100 crores gross, turning out to be a bonafide success. ## Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, Article 370 was released on February 23 with favourable critics' reviews and audience word of mouth. It took a good opening of around 6 crores net, followed by the opening week of around 35.50 crores net. ## After the good first week, the movie showed a stronghold in the second week with a drop of just 37% for 22.30 crores net and it continued to show the same trend over the next few weeks despite the arrival of new films. The movie managed to go past 75 crores net which is a very good result. ## Overseas, Article 370 was decent with around 12.50 crores gross collection, for a worldwide total of around 105 crores. The movie is currently the fifth highest-grossing Bollywood title of the year at the worldwide box office. Mumbai, April 19 - It was a super low turnaround at the box office on Eid 2024 as both tentpole films, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan, bombed without making much noise. ## Ajay Devgn-fronted sports biopic Maidaan received a positive reception from critics as well as from audiences, however, it was all doom and gloom at the box office for the movie. In its extended 8-day first week, the movie scored low approximately 28.35 crores net. ## Overseas, Maidaan remained poor with an estimated 7 crores gross collection, for around 40.50 crores worldwide total. Mumbai, April 19 - Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff-fronted Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has had a disappointing first-week collection at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office. Despite the Eid release and strong cast and crew, the movie failed to cash in on the opportunity. ## Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the action thriller scored a little under 50 crores net collection in all versions, including an estimated 49.25 crores in Hindi in the extended 8-day first week. Ideally, for a film like BMCM, this should have been a 2-day collection. ## At the overseas box office, BMCM was released through Yash Raj Films but the response was underwhelming as it scored an estimated 27 crores in the first week. Hyderabad, April 18 - Telugu superstar Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule has already turned into a massive profitable venture even before its release as the makers are fetching unheard theatrical and non-theatrical deals for this action drama. ## Recently, it was revealed that the Hindi theatrical rights of the film have been sold at a huge 200 crores in advance to AA Films. Earlier, Netflix had announced digital rights to the movie, now, according to the latest report by Pinkvilla, the streamer has paid a bombastic amount for the same. ## It is said that Pushpa 2's digital rights sold to Netflix for an earth-shattering base price of Rs 250 crore, which can extend to Rs 300 crore for all languages. It is an all-time record streaming deal for all languages, surpassing the previous best, SS Rajamouli's RRR (170 crores) by a margin of approx. Rs 100 crore. ## The streaming deal of Pushpa 2 with Netflix is variable and is based on the box office performance. Box Office: Aadujeevitham Becomes Third Highest-Grossing Malayalam Movie Worldwide

Kochi, April 14 - Prithviraj Sukumaran's survival thriller Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life has become the third highest-grossing Malayalam movie at the worldwide box office after beating Mohanlal's Pulimurugan in 18 days. ## Directed by Blessy, Aadujeevitham grossed an estimated 137.50 crores, including around 82.50 crores in India and 55 crores overseas through the third Saturday (17 days). On its third Sunday (18th day), the film heading towards scoring an estimated 2.50 crores which will take its total collection to around 140 crores, surpassing Pulimurugan's 139.50 crores. ## Aadujeevitham is now behind only Manjummel Boys (232 crores) and 2018 (180 crores) as the third biggest Malayalam grosser, and it will finish with this position as it is unlikely to top any of the top two films. The movie has performed exceptionally well, both at the domestic and worldwide box office. ## It is an adaptation of the 2008 best-selling Malayalam novel Aadujeevitham by Benyamin, which is based on the real-life story of Najeeb, a Malayali immigrant labourer, one among thousands of Indians who were forced into slavery in Saudi Arabia as goatherds on secluded farms in the deserts by the native Arabs. ## Stay tuned...
