Ajay Devgn's 'Shaitaan' Advance Booking Status And Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, March 7 - After the good first two months of 2024, the Hindi film industry has now pinned its hope on Ajay Devgn-fronted supernatural horror thriller Shaitaan to continue the momentum at the box office. Directed by Vikas Bahl, the film also stars Jyothika, R. Madhavan, and Janki Bodiwala in key roles and is scheduled to release on March 8.## Shaitaan has been able to generate a decent buzz, thanks to the genre and well-received trailer. The booking for the film was opened a couple of days back and though it is not over the roof it is still decent considering the horror genre which has a limited audience. ## As of 3 PM on March 7, the pre-sales gross collection of Shaitaan for the opening day is around 2.50 crores with close to 110K tickets sold. The final pre-sales of the movie are expected to finish around 3.50 crores for the opening day which will be a decent response. ## The pre-sales of Shaitaan are more or less similar to Sam Bahadur and Dream Girl 2 though the genre of both these films was different. Given the booking trend, the Ajay Devgn-starrer opening could be somewhere around Dream Girl 2 which scored 10.69 crores net. The walk-ins, given the positive word of mouth, are expected to be better than the aforementioned two films, plus the Ajay Devgn factor also boasts the chances.## There is a holiday on March 8 on account of Maha Shivratri which will further strengthen the film's opening day box office prospects so the start in the range of 10-13 crores is very much on the card. The good thing for Shaitaan is that there is no big competition this week apart from holdovers. Director Sooraj Barjatya Approaches Shahid Kapoor To Headline 'Prem Ki Shaadi'

Mumbai, March 6 - Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and director Sooraj Barjatya were supposed to reunite for a family drama film Prem Ki Shaadi, however, it was recently reported that the actor has backed out from the project over creative issues. ## Later, it was reported that the filmmaker would be tweaking the script and would make it with younger actors. Now, according to Peepingmoon.com, talented actor Shahid Kapoor, who just scored a box office hit in the form of Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, has been approached to headline the film. ## Shahid and Sooraj Barjatya have previously worked on the romantic drama Vivah which was a box-office hit and later earned a cult status with immense popularity in every household on television. It is said that when Salman backed out from Prem Ki Shaadi, the filmmaker immediately approached Shahid and things have been processing in the right direction. ## The duo has met multiple times and Barjatya is hopeful of getting Shahid on board the film which is an ambitious family drama and will be mounted on a grand scale. Interestingly, Shahid's character name in Vivah was also Prem who is quite popular in Barjatya's films. ## If all goes well, Prem Ki Shaadi will go on floors by the end of this year or early next year. Shahid, meanwhile, has a few big films in the pipeline. The actor currently shooting for the thriller film Deva, and has a historical film based on Ashwatthama from Mahabharta with Pooja Entertainment. Mumbai, March 6 - Bhushan Kumar-headed T-Series and director Anurag Basu enthusiastically announced the third instalment of the popular romantic franchise Aashiqui with Kartik Aaryan in the lead role in 2022. ## Since the film's announcement, there have been many rumours regarding the film's casting and production, and finally, T-Series has issued a statement putting all rumours to rest. However, in a major disappointment to the fans of the franchise, the company has put the film on hold indefinitely. ## "T-Series wishes to clarify that we are not presently involved in the development or production of Aashiqui 3. If and when Aashiqui 3 is initiated, T-Series and Vishesh Films / Mukesh Bhatt being joint owners in the franchise shall produce it jointly only. We categorically deny any ongoing rumours suggesting that Aashiqui 3 is being produced under a different title by T- Series", read the statement.## The studio also stated that they are currently working on another film with director Anurag Basu. "Our proposed film to be directed by Anurag Basu is neither Aashiqui 3 nor part of the Aashiqui franchise. We sincerely appreciate the ongoing support and enthusiasm of our fans. Mumbai, March 6 - Though it is not a hidden secret anymore, Yash Raj Films has officially confirmed that there will be a female-led film in the studio's ambitious Spy Universe film and it will be headlined by superstar Alia Bhatt. ## Over the last few months, there have been confirmed reports stating about Alia's Spy Universe debut to lead a solo female movie, and now, YRF CEO, Akshaye Widhani has confirmed the same. confirmed this huge development at FICCI Frames on March 5 (via India Today). ## Calling Spy Universe as YRF's biggest IP, Widhani said, "I'll share the worst-kept secret in the industry, which is, Alia Bhatt is headlining a Spy Universe film and that the schedule starts later this year. But you know, talking about this spy universe, we are just so thrilled and excited about having this IP in the studio". ## As reported, Alia Bhatt will be joined by actress Sharvari Wagh in the supporting role. Mumbai, March 5 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn set to thrill the audiences with his upcoming supernatural thriller film Shaitaan, co-starring R. Madhavan, Jyothika, and Janki Bodiwala. The Vikas Bahl's directorial movie is gearing up to release on March 8 on the occasion of Mahashivrati. ## Shaitaan is said to be the remake of the Gujarati film Vash, however, unlike the original version, the upcoming film has been granted a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The original movie got an 'A' (adult only) certificate from the censor board. ## According to reports, Shaitaan received 4 modifications from the Examining Committee (EC) of the CBFC while Vash was censored only after 8 major cuts. While the original film was 1 hour and 57 minutes long, Shaitaan reportedly has 2 hours and 12 minutes theatrical runtime. ## With the change in certification, it can be assumed that Shaitaan will be less gory than the original film. ## Shaitaan is produced by Devgn Films, Jio Studios, and Panorama Studios. It revolves around a happy family, who go on a vacation to a secluded village, where they encounter a mysterious man, who claims to be their well-wisher. However, he has a sinister motive and uses black magic to manipulate and torment them. Kochi, March 4 - The Manjummel Boys have conquered their survival story which has turned into a box office phenomenon. ## The latest Malayalam cinema sensation, a survival thriller Manjummel Boys has entered the 100 crores gross club at the worldwide box office in just 12 days. The movie has taken fewer than expected days to achieve the milestone. ## The movie grossed around 97 crores worldwide in the first 11 days and with today's collection (12th day), it will be around 105 crores globally, making it the second fastest Malayalam movie to top 100 crores worldwide after 2018 which took just 11 days and was also a survival thriller. ## Manjummel Boys, in its first 8-day extended week, minted approximately 56 crores worldwide before it went overdrive in the second weekend in which it grossed huge around 41 crores globally. Until the second Sunday, the movie scored around 56 crores in India and around 41 crores overseas. ## Before Manjummel Boys, Malayalam cinema had only three movies in the coveted box office club. Hyderabad, March 4 - Superstar Prabhas-fronted Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire was a big success, grossing over 600 crores at the worldwide box office. The Prashanth Neel's directorial announced the film's sequel at the end of the first part and now, there is an exciting update on the same. ## The sequel of the film was titled Salaar: Part 2 - Shouryanga Parvam and the makers have been saying that it will go on floors soon. Actor Bobby Simha, who played a key role in the movie, has revealed in an interview (via 123telugu.com) that Salaar 2 will be on floors in April 2024. ## Producer Vijay Kiragandur confirmed in a recent interview that they are planning to start the filming as soon as possible for a grand release in 2025. Director Prashanth Neel also said that the script for the second part is ready and they are working on plans to start production soon. ## Salaar: Ceasefire was one of the biggest Indian grossers of 2023. Pictures/Legendary Pictures' Dune: Part 2 stormed the worldwide box office in its opening weekend, grossing over $178 million over 72 markets including North America. ## Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the epic sci-fi crushed industry projections to gross a solid $81.5 million (675 crores) in North America in the first weekend which is almost double the first movie's $41 million back in 2021 when the movie opened simultaneously in theatres and HBO Max. ## Dune 2 could be an IMAX phenomenon going forward as around 23% of the total domestic opening weekend gross came from IMAX showing at $18.5 million (153 crores) where ticket rates are higher than regular prices. It is also the biggest opening for both, director Denis Villeneuve and actor Timothée Chalamet. ## Overseas, the movie grossed a mighty $97 million (805 crores) on a 5-day opening weekend over 71 markets, and allied to domestic grosses, the sequel hit $178.5 million (1480 crores) worldwide. The movie is due to open in China (March 8), and Japan (March 15). ## The UK was the biggest contributor outside North America with $11.8 million, followed by France ($9.6M), Germany ($9.1M), South Korea ($6.9M), and Australia ($6M). Hyderabad, March 2 - Director Prasanth Varma's superhero movie Hanuman has been in theatres for more than 50 days, a remarkable achievement for a film that was released with limited expectations. The movie's box office performance also made makers pause its digital release, something which is rare for a South Indian movie nowadays. ## Starring Teja Sajja, Hanuman was released on January 12 during the Sankranthi festival along with a couple of other movies on either date. The movie initially faced challenges in getting desired screens in Telugu states as it wasn't a big film compared to other movies released during the same period. ## To overcome the challenges, Hanuman needed solid audience word-of-mouth and once it happened, it looked unstoppable. And now, after 50 days, the movie stands as one of the biggest South Indian blockbusters and the biggest-ever Sankranthi release for Tollywood. ## Produced by Primeshow Entertainment, Hanuman has grossed around 294 crores at the worldwide box office in 50 days. In India, the movie has minted around 237 crores gross and overseas, it has grossed an estimated 56.80 crores.
