Disney's 'Zootopia 2' and 'Moana 2' Set Release Dates

Los Angeles, February 8 - Disney has officially confirmed the sequel to his 2016 animated musical fantasy adventure film Moana in a surprising turn of events. It is said that Moana 2 was originally planned as a TV series but became a feature film because Disney CEO Bob Iger was impressed with the footage.## Ahead of Disney's first quarter of fiscal 2024 earnings report, the studio unveiled the first look teaser and also set a November 27, 2024, release date. According to Disney (via Variety), "Moana 2" will take audiences on an "expansive new voyage with Moana, Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers". ## The original "Moana", released on November 23, 2016, became a success for Disney, generating more than $680 million at the worldwide box office. ## Disney's Zootopia 2 has also confirmed its release date. The sequel to the studio's $1 billion-plus animated buddy cop action comedy film will debut in worldwide theatres on November 26, 2025. The original movie, released in 2016, also won the Oscar for Best Animated Film. ## Meanwhile, the studio has also confirmed that "Toy Story 5" and "Frozen 3" will be released in 2016, however, the exact release dates are not revealed yet. Mumbai, February 7 - Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor has broken a viewership record on Netflix. The action drama film scored the highest viewership for an Indian movie (direct or indirect) on the streamer in the first 10 days. ## Animal, which premiered on Netflix on January 26, has so far scored 39.3 million viewing hours from 11.7 million views in the first 10 days which is the highest ever for an Indian title. Previously, Yami Gautam-starrer Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga (direct release) was the most-watched Indian title on Netflix in the first 10 days with 29 million hours. ## Among the post-theatrical Netflix releases, SS Rajamouli's mega-hit RRR was previously the number-one watched movie at the same time with 25.5 million viewing hours, a number Animal has beaten by a long margin. It scored 20.8 million viewing hours in the opening weekend, followed by 18.5 million in the second week (January 29 - February 4). ## Animal is trending in the top 10 list in 17 countries, including number-one in India, Sri Lanka, UAE, Maldives, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Mauritius. Mumbai, February 6 - Director Siddharth Anand's aerial action thriller Fighter has topped 300 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office, becoming the first Indian movie of 2024 to achieve the feat. ## Starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor in the lead roles, the movie crossed the triple century box office mark on its 12th day as the total collection now stands at around 300+ crores gross, including 214+ crores gross at the domestic box office and around 86 crores overseas business.## Fighter has become the fourth 300 crores worldwide grosser for both Hrithik and Sid Anand while 7th for Deepika Padukone. The movie had minted approximately 249 crores gross in the extended opening week which was underwhelming given the positive word of mouth. ## At once, it looked like a goner but struck back in the second weekend to remain in the race to become a box office success. Mumbai, February 4 - Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor is gearing up for the release of romantic-comedy Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, directed by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah. Billed as an impossible love story, the movie has Kriti Sanon as the female lead and it is scheduled to release on February 9. ## After TBMAUJ, Shahid Kapoor will be seen in Malayalam director Rosshan Andrrews' cop action thriller Deva. Produced by Roy Kapur Films in association with Zee Studios, Deva is said to be the official remake of the Malayalam movie Mumbai Police. Shahid plays a police officer while Pooja Hegde is the female lead. It will be hitting theatres on October 11 this year. ## Besides the confirmed TBMAUJ and Deva, the Kabir Singh star has reportedly locked two more films. It is said that Shahid will be headlining Pooja Entertainment's epic film based on Mahabharata. The actor will be playing the role of great warrior Ashwatthama who was the son of Guru Dronacharya and had received the boon of immortality from Lord Shiva himself. ## The yet-to-be-announced film will reportedly be directed by Kannada filmmaker Sachin Ravi, known for directing Rakshit Shetty's action adventure, Avane Srimannarayana (2019). The movie is expected to start filming in August this year for a grand 2025 release in multiple languages. ## According to the latest reports, Shahid is also in advanced talks with the OMG 2 director Amit Rai for a historical action drama film based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It has become the highest-grossing Telugu movie ever to release during the Sankranthi festival weekend. ## Starring Teja Sajja, Hanuman was released on January 12 and with glowing word of mouth, the film beats all other films released around it and eventually becomes the biggest Telugu grosser ever to debut during the particular festival. ## Hanuman has grossed around 270 crores at the worldwide box office as I type this, and has beaten superstar Allu Arjun's Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo which scored approximately 269 crores worldwide in 2020 to emerge the biggest Sankranthi blockbuster of all-time. ## Unlike Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Hanuman was released in multiple languages and apart from Telugu, the film is getting good dividends from Hindi. The movie has so far grossed approximately 215 crores at the domestic box office, including around 55 crores gross in the dubbed Hindi version. In the first three days of its digital release, the film has risen to the top position among all Hindi titles released on the ZEE5. ## While viewership numbers are not revealed, ZEE5 said that the movie has been watched in over 190 countries on the platform, with the U.S., Australia, the UK, the United Arab Emirates and Canada as the top performers outside of India. ## Produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner of RSVP, Sam Bahadur was also a theatrical success with a worldwide gross collection of over 130 crores. Mumbai, February 1 - Indian films have started well at the box office in 2024 as three of them are among the top 10 highest-grossing titles worldwide this year so far.## Director Prasanth Varma's superhero film Hanuman emerged as a huge blockbuster with a worldwide gross collection of around 265 crores in 20 days. In India, the movie has minted approximately 210 crores while the overseas collection is around 55 crores so far. ## Hanuman is the 5th highest-grossing film globally in 2024 in January, followed by Hrithik Roshan's Fighter. The Siddharth Anand's directorial aerial action thriller was one of the most-awaited films, however, it has underperformed given its size and scale. ## In its first week (7 days), Fighter grossed approximately 241 crores worldwide, including 169 crores domestically and an estimated 72 crores at the overseas box office. It is the 7th highest-grossing film worldwide of 2024 so far. ## Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu's action drama Guntur Kaaram is another Indian film in the global top 10 in January 2024. The movie, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, has grossed around 177 crores in 20 days, including 146 crores in India and approximately 31 crores overseas. Mumbai, February 1 - Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan and director Siddharth Anand's Fighter has a decent opening week at the domestic box office. The movie did well in urban centres, however, it failed to repeat the same in mass areas despite positive reviews and word of mouth. ## Also starring Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor, Fighter scored approximately 140.75 crores net collection in the first week (7 days). The movie was a Thursday release and it scored 118.50 crores net during the Republic Day weekend which was good. ## Fighter had a big drop of over 70% on Monday which raised doubts over the film's longevity at the box office, however, after that heavy drop, the movie is showing a better trend as it didn't drop drastically after that. Though the movie may struggle to score a big jump in the second weekend it is still in the race to top 200 crores net. ## The collection of 140.50 crores net makes Fighter the third biggest first-week grosser for a Hrithik Roshan-starrer after War and Krrish 3 (first 7 days). ## 1. North America is the best-performing overseas market for the film with an estimated $4.3 million (36 crores). ## Fighter beats the Hollywood romantic comedy "Anyone but You" which scored $19 million (158 crores) this weekend at the worldwide box office, including $4.8 million (40 crores) in the USA alone.
