Hyderabad, August 1 - Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej's fantasy comedy film, "Bro" crashed badly on its first Monday after the good opening weekend collection. The drop on Monday is so bad that it has almost sealed the fate of the movie which needs to score at least 150 crores gross worldwide to break even. ## Directed by Samuthirakani, "Bro" grossed just 4.55 crores domestically on Monday, a sharp huge 77.22% drop from Sunday collection. The total domestic gross collection of the movie stands at approx. 80 crores, including approx. 70 crores in the two Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana). The AP-TG gross includes approx. 47 crores share collection while the movie need to score approx. 81 crores share to break even which is looking unlikely now.## The overseas collection of "Bro" is approx. 12 crores in 4 days, and allied to the domestic total, the worldwide gross of the movie stands at approx. 92 crores. It is heading towards finishing as the lowest-grossing film of Pawan Kalyan post the covid-19 pandemic though it has become the highest-grossing film for Sai Dharam Tej, beating his recent blockbuster "Virupaksha" which gross approx. 89 crores worldwide.## The last three films, including "Bro", of Pawan Kalyan were remakes and none of the films could reach break-even. Though "Vakeel Saab" and "Bheemla Nayak" managed to come close to their target and emerged as moderate successes for the investors. The film deals with the subject of sex education in India and there might be a religious angle that the CBFC has been monitoring. ## There were reports that CBFC has asked the makers to make some changes and suggested that they cut some scenes. The board also offered an 'only adult' certificate, and now, it is revealed that the movie has been certified with an 'A' certificate, which means only 18+ can watch the film in theaters.## Directed by Amit Rai, "OMG 2" was censored today (July 31) with an approved runtime of 2 hours and 36 minutes. Mumbai, July 31 - Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt-fronted "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani" crosses 50 crores net mark after the solid first Monday. The movie had a very good opening weekend with 45.90 crores net, which is the 4th biggest first Friday-Sunday weekend for Bollywood this year.## RRKPK needed to stay strong on its first make-or-break Monday and it passes the test with flying colors. The early estimates suggest the collection is in the range of 7-7.50 crores net today, dropping around 60% from Sunday which is normal after a strong weekend collection. ## As compared to Friday, the drop in the collection of RRKPK today is in the range of 30-35% which is a fantastic hold, however, the overall collection is on the average side for a big-budget movie like this. The first Friday/opening day was itself decent with 11.10 crores net though the Saturday and Sunday jump didn't let it affect the overall weekend collection. ## The total collection of the film has reached over 53 crores net in 4 days, and RRKPK will need to remain consistent during the coming days for a good opening week. As of now, it looks like the movie will finish its first week with around 70-73 crores net which is a good result. Mumbai, July 31 - Blockbuster filmmaker Christopher Nolan's atom bomb movie "Oppenheimer" is having a blast at the Indian box office. The movie is nearing the 100 crores net mark while it has already crossed this milestone in gross collection. ## "Oppenheimer" has been shot entirely in IMAX cameras and not so surprisingly, it is proving to be an IMAX wonder around the globe. In India, the movie has been exceptional as far as the IMAX format is concerned. On its second Monday, it is running with over 60% occupancy in IMAX, and the same response is expected for the next couple of weeks. ## In IMAX, "Oppenheimer" has crossed a huge 20 crores gross mark in just 11 days in India, the fastest movie ever to reach this mark. In the first week, it grossed 13.10 crores in IMAX while in the second week, the movie scored 7.50 crores gross (4 days) for a total of 20.60 crores gross in 11 days. It will reach 25 crores mark by the end of the second week and this will be almost 1/4 of its total collection.## Meanwhile, Tom Cruise's "Mission Impossible 7" was also released in IMAX and it grossed just 8.15 crores in 9 days before all the IMAX screens were shifted for "Oppenheimer". "MI7", however, got terrific response in the regular format and has crossed 100 crores net mark already.## At present, there are just 24 IMAX theaters in India, and at least 5 more are expected to be added this year. IMAX has been planning to add more screens in the coming years which shows the growing interest of Indians to watch movies in this premium format for rich visual quality. ## Meanwhile, "Oppenheimer" has so far grossed approx. 113 crores (~95 crores net) in India in 11 days. Mumbai, July 31 - Karan Johar's directorial romantic family drama film "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani" scored a huge opening weekend at the worldwide box office, thanks to the very good performance internationally.## The movie, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, took a decent opening at the domestic box office with 11.10 crores net, before showing big jumps on Saturday and Sunday for 16.05 crores and 18.75 crores net, respectively, making it a 45.90 crores net (~54.50 crores gross) opening weekend. ## The 45.90 crores net is the 4th biggest Friday-Sunday opening weekend for Bollywood in 2023, after "Pathaan", "Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan", and "Adipurush". Overseas, RRKPK grossed approx. 34 crores in the first weekend, helping the worldwide collection of the movie to reach approx. 88.50 crores which are superb. It will cross 100 crores mark by tomorrow.## RRKPK did well in North America with a gross collection of approx. $1.80 million (14.80 crores) in the first weekend. It could have scored more but lack of showcasing due to the juggernaut of "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" affect RRKPK's biz in this market. In the UK, it scored approx. $460K (3.80 crores) opening weekend. Los Angeles, July 30 - It was another weekend ruled by Barbenheimer, the collective force of "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" at the global box office. While Margot Robbie-led doll movie crossed $700 million, Nolan's atom bomb flick hit $400 million worldwide through the second weekend. ## Based on the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, an American theoretical physicist who was pivotal in developing the first nuclear weapons as part of the Manhattan Project, "Oppenheimer" is now the first R-Rated movie to gross more than $10 million for seven days in a row — and counting at the domestic (North America) box office, according to Universal Pictures (via Variety). ## "Oppenheimer" has grossed $174 million in the first 10 days, and it is yet to drop below the $10 million mark, which is an all-time record. The $174 million includes an excellent $47.2 million second weekend, which is the biggest 2nd weekend total for any drama or an R-Rated movie post the covid-19 pandemic. ## Meanwhile, the movie is also performing really well at the Indian box office and has crossed the 100 crores gross mark in just 9 days. It is set to top 100 crores net by the end of the second week to become the first film for Nolan to achieve this milestone in India. It currently stands at approx. 92 crores net through the second weekend (10 days). Los Angeles, July 30 - Marvel Studios' next theatrical tentpole "The Marvels" is getting ready to release in November this year. Directed by Nia DaCosta, the movie is the sequel to "Captain Marvel" (2019), which grossed over $1.10 billion at the global box office. It is the first female-led superhero movie to top a billion dollars at the box office.## "The Marvels" is expected to be another money spinner for Marvel and Disney, however, it will have to perform exceptionally well to top come close to its predecessor. In a major setback to the film, it won't be playing in the IMAX format due to Warner Bros. Pictures' sci-fi epic "Dune - Part 2" which is releasing on November 3. ## Warner Bros. has partnered with IMAX to play "Dune 2" for 5-6 weeks which means "The Marvels" will have to be without this premium format. IMAX has been a major contributor to Marvel movies so its absence will definitely make a big impact on "Captain Marvel 2's" overall box office.## In good news for the superhero movie, there are strong reports within the Hollywood media that Warner Bros. might postpone the release of "Dune 2" to next year if the SAG-AFTRA strike last longer than expected. In this case, "The Marvels" will be taking IMAX screens. ## "Right. Dune, specifically, I mean, there's another great movie coming out around [that] time, which is The Marvels from Marvel, and we can't play it because we are committed to Dune. So, Dune moves will just go over to The Marvels, and having a Marvel movie as a backup is not the worst position to be in the world", Richard Gelfond, the Chief Executive Officer, IMAX said in a recent earning call. ## "The Marvels" stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, alongside Zawe Ashton, Park Seo-joon, and Samuel L. Jackson. In the film, Danvers, Rambeau, and Kamala team up after they begin swapping places with each other every time they use their powers.## The movie is scheduled to release on November 10, 2023. Mumbai, July 29 - After a decent opening day of 11.10 crores net, Karan Johar's "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani" witnesses a solid jump of over 40% today, on its second at the domestic box office. Positive word of mouth comes into play today as it scores one of the biggest second-day jumps post the covid-19 pandemic for a major Bollywood release. ## The early estimates suggest the second-day collection in the range of 15.50-16.50 crores, which takes the total net collection to around 27 crores in two days. The movie is strong in multiplexes which witnesses a solid jump while non-multiplexes also show a minor improvement over opening-day sales. ## RRKPK needed a big jump today after not so strong opening day and the makers will be happy with the jump. The best-performing city of the movie is Delhi while it is also collecting well in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. ## The film should show further jump tomorrow on Sunday, though the jump wouldn't be as big as today.
