Mumbai, May 30 - Producer Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg teamed up and announced the biopic of former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly in September 2021. Since then, various actors have been approached to play the legendary cricketer but things didn't materialize. ## Now, according to Peepingmoon.com, the biographical drama is back on track, and pre-production has already started. It is said that the makers are in advanced talks with the supremely talented actor Ayushmann Khurana to headline the project.## Ayushmann, who has wooed audiences with a variety of roles, has reportedly been in talks for this much-awaited biopic for several months and it's only a matter of some formalities before he is officially signed on for the role. The actor will undergo months of extensive cricket training before starting the shoot by the end of this year.## Tamil filmmaker Aishwarya Rajinikanth is expected to direct this sports biopic after Vikramaditya Motwane, who was supposed to direct it, turned down the opportunity for unknown reasons.## Meanwhile, Ayushmann Khurrana will next be seen in the social comedy-drama "Dream Girl 2" which is scheduled to release on August 25, 2023. Kochi, May 29 - The Tovino Thomas-led Malayalam blockbuster 2018 is having a record-breaking run at the domestic as well as overseas box office. The film has broken almost all the major records for a Malayalam movie in just 4 weeks of the run. ## Directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, "2018" was released on May 5, and in just 24 days, it has grossed over 160 crores at the worldwide box office. It also stars Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Lal, and Narain with an ensemble supporting cast. ## Have a look at some of the major box office records broken by 2018 - ## Highest-grossing Malayalam movie of all-time at the worldwide box office## 2018 is the highest-grossing Malayalam movie of all time. It currently has scored around 68 crores gross in 24 days, ahead of previous record-holder Lucifer which earned approx. 50.50 crores internationally. ## Highest-grossing film ever at the Kerala box office## On its 24th day, 2018 becomes the highest-grossing film ever in any language at the Kerala box office. It surpassed Pulimurugan's 78.50 crores yesterday (24th day) to become the new box office king in the state with approx. 80 crores gross. ## Fastest Malayalam movie to reach 100 crores gross at the worldwide box office ## 2018 took just 11 days to breach the 100 crores gross mark globally, beating Lucifer's record of 12 days. Mumbai, May 28 - Vin Diesel-fronted action thriller Fast X has crossed 100 crores gross at the Indian box office, becoming the first Hollywood movie of the year to do so. ## Directed by Louis Leterrier, "Fast X" crossed the century mark on its second Saturday, taking the total collection to around 105 crores after 10 days. It is also performing well today (2nd Sunday) and is likely to rack in another 7 crores for around 112 crores gross through the second weekend. ## In one of the rarest cases, the Hindi version of the film is performing better than the original English language as it has earned approximately 54 crores gross while the English version has collected around 52 crores through the second Sunday. Tamil and Telugu version has earned over 6 crores. ## As far as net collection is concerned, "Fast X" has earned around 93.50 crores in all languages. It will enter the 100 crores mark this week.## Meanwhile, the 10th installment in the "Fast & Furious" franchise topped $500 million at the global box office on Sunday. Kochi, May 28 - The record-breaking run of all-time Malayalam blockbuster 2018: Everyone is a Hero continues and this time, it has breached another long-standing record of Pulimurugan (2016) in the Kerala state. ## After "2018" became the highest-grossing Malayalam movie of all time, it has now become the biggest grosser in Kerala state in just 24 days, including today (4th Sunday).## On its 24th day (4th Sunday), 2018 grossed 2.70 crores in Kerala and pushed the total collection to 80.06 crores in the state. The latest Mollywood sensation has topped the nearly seven-year record of Pulimurugan which grossed around 78.50 crores in Kerala. ## The non-Malayalam highest-grossing film in Kerala is SS Rajamouli's Baahubali: The Conclusion (Telugu) which grossed around 73 crores and is currently the 3rd biggest in the state, followed by K.G.F. Chapter 2 (Kannada) and Lucifer at number 4 and 5 with 67 crores and 63 crores, respectively. ## Overall, 2018 has grossed 156 crores so far at the worldwide box office, including around 66 crores overseas. Hyderabad, May 28 - Prabhas-fronted "Adipurush" is getting ready to release on June 16 this year amid huge anticipation among fans and trade. The epic drama is expected to be a money spinner for the makers and if reports are to be believed, the Telugu states theatrical rights are already get sold. ## Producer TG Vishwa Prasad of People Media Factory acquired the Telugu states theatrical rights of "Adipurush" for 185 crores, including GST. ## The producer officially confirmed the aforementioned price in a recent interview with Mirchi9 and said that they will also be buying Prabhas' "Spirit" which will be produced by T-Series and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.## "Adipurush" has been able to generate huge buzz after the unanimously positive response to the trailers and songs. Kochi, May 27 - It has been three weeks since the Malayalam movie 2018 was released in theaters, and as things stand today, it is the all-time highest-grossing Malayalam movie at the worldwide box office. ## The Jude Anthany Joseph's directorial film, based on the true events of the Kerala floods in 2018, was released at a time when the Mollywood industry wasn't having a great time at the box office with back-to-back failures this year.## The makers hardly had any idea about the film's box office potential, but now, the results are there for everyone to see. Being a small film industry with not much market outside Kerala, the Malayalam industry hasn't delivered many huge box office blockbusters, hence the success of "2018" becomes even more special. ## It is only the 3rd Malayalam title of all time to cross the 100 crores mark at the worldwide box office and even went on to top Mohanlal's "Pulimurugan" to become the Malayalam industry hit. Mumbai, May 27 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's much-awaited social comedy-drama film OMG - Oh My God! - 2 will be released in theaters, contrary to rumors about the direct-to-digital release. ## Directed by Amit Rai, the movie is a spiritual sequel to "OMG – Oh My God! (2012) and stars Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam. The movie has been in production since 2021. The movie was supposed to release in cinemas last year, however, due to the delay in the shoot, the makers postponed the release indefinitely. ## It was recently reported that the movie has opted for a direct OTT release, however, the makers never confirmed the same. Now, according to Pinkvilla, "OMG 2" is being readied for its theatrical release this year as the makers never discussed its OTT release. ## "Akshay Kumar along with his partners, Ashwin Varde, Viacom 18, and Jio Studios have decided on a theatrical release for Oh My God 2. Several discussions happen throughout the course of making, but, Oh My God 2 was always announced as a theatrical venture. Hyderabad, May 27 - A few days ago, it was reported that superstar Prabhas is in talks with "Sita Ramam" director Hanu Raghvapudi for a big-budget Pan India movie. Later it was revealed that the movie will have a war backdrop which the actor liked and will start shooting once he finishes his ongoing projects. ## Now, according to Pinkvilla, the "Baahubali" star is in the early talks with director Trivikram Srinivas for a possible collaboration. Trivikram, who is currently directing superstar Mahesh Babu in "SSMB 28", recently pitched a story idea to Prabhas and it is said to be completely different from what they have done before. ## The project in question is still in the so early stage to get confirmation but the report revealed it will be in a unique space for Prabhas and won't be anything that anyone has seen him before. If the project finalizes, it will mark Prabhas and Trivikram's maiden collaboration. ## Prabhas, meanwhile, has a number of films to finish. He is currently gearing up for the release of director Om Raut's "Adipurush" (June 16) and then has Prashanth Neel's "Salaar", scheduled for September 28, 2023, release. We're in development on three others, including five and including the television series, The Continental, which will be airing soon", Joe Drake said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.## "We're building out the world and when that five movies comes, it will be organic — will be organically grown out of how we're starting to tell those stories. Los Angeles, May 27 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise returns as IMF agent, Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, and this, he will get some more time to complete his mission as the movie is set to be longest yet in the franchise. ## Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the 7th installment in the "Mission Impossible" franchise is gearing up to release on July 12 in the US, and it will officially be the longest film in the series but still shorter than certain rumors had it at. ## According to IGN, "MI 7" will clock in at 2 hours and 36 minutes (156 minutes) without credits, making it the longest film surpassing 2018's "Mission: Impossible Fallout", which had a runtime of 2 hours and 27 minutes. Earlier, there were rumors that the movie might clock 2 hours 45 minutes of runtime without credits, which is not the case as confirmed by the report. ## Interestingly, the theatrical runtime of the "Mission Impossible" movies continues to get increased with each passing film, except for the 5th movie "Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation" (131 minutes) which finished 2 minutes shorter than the 4th movie "Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol" (133 minutes). The first movie in this spy action thriller franchise "Mission: Impossible" (1998) ran for 110 minutes only. ## Meanwhile, the upcoming film in the series will see Tom Cruise performing the most dangerous and death-defying stunt yet as he and his IMF team embark on their dangerous mission to track down a terrifying weapon that threatens humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. ## Made on a budget of around $300 million, the Paramount Pictures movie will be hitting cinemas on July 12, after being pushed up by two days recently.
