Mumbai, May 7 - The Kerala Story records a fantastic opening weekend at the domestic box office with an estimated 35+ crores net coming in over a 3-day weekend. ## After 19.25 crores net in the first two days, the drama film sees another big jump of around 40% for an estimated 16+ crores net on its third day or first Sunday. The jump on Sunday is in similar lines as Saturday. The 3 days total collection of The Kerala Story is approx. 35.25 crores net, which is easily the 4th biggest Bollywood opening of the year and beats most of the mainstream movies. ## Interestingly, The Kerala Story comfortably beats Marvel Studios Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 which was easily the biggest movie this weekend at the Indian box office. Despite the positive reviews and word of mouth, GoTG3 scores an estimated 24 crores net in all versions. ## The Kerala Story, meanwhile, has already turned successful venture for the makers as the budget of the film is not that much. It hugely benefited from the controversy which created awareness among the general audience. Los Angeles, May 7 - Marvel Studios and Disney's Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 launched to more than expected $289.30 million at the worldwide box office, including $118.40 million domestically (North America) over the 3-day weekend. ## The James Gunn-directed superhero movie opened in the projected lines at the domestic box office, which is the second biggest opening of the year, behind "The Super Mario Bros. Movie's" $146 million. The third installment in the GoTG franchise, however, fell well short of the $146 million opening of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" (2017). ## The movie is carrying super positive word of mouth which is promising enough for the movie to dream for a long run. It is having 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes along with an "A" CinemaScore (only the third Marvel movie to get A post-pandemic). ## At the international box office, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" crushed industry projections with a huge $170.90 million from 52 markets over the 5-day weekend and beats the likes of "Ant-Man 3" ($121.3M), "Thor: Love And Thunder" ($159M) and "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" ($150M). ## "GoTG3", however, underperformed in India with an estimated $3.50 million over a 3-day weekend, one of the lowest openings for a Marvel movie in the post covid era. ## The top 10 international markets of GoTG3 are as follows - 1. 'Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2' Crosses 100 Crores Gross At The Tamil Nadu Box Office

Chennai, May 7 - Mani Ratnam's historical action drama film Ponniyin Selvan - Part 2 is continuing with its strong performance at the domestic as well as overseas box office. ## The second and final part of "Ponniyin Selvan" is nearing 300 crores, currently stands at around 282 crores in 9 days, at the worldwide box office, and is likely to reach there by today or tomorrow. The first part, which was released in September last year, grossed close to 500 crores worldwide and the second part is also turning out to be a big money spinner. ## Meanwhile, "PS-2" has crossed 100 crores gross collection in Tamil Nadu, becoming the 3rd film of the year to do so after Thalapathy Vijay's "Varisu" and Ajith Kumar's "Thunivu". Mani Ratnam's directorial reached the 100 crores mark on its 9th day and currently stands at a little over 102 crores. ## "PS-1" had taken just 5 days to breach the 100 crores gross mark and went on to gross over 200 crores in Tamil Nadu. It is the only film in the history of Indian cinema to breach the double-century mark in the state. The movie was produced by YRF and went on to gross over 1050 crores worldwide. ## Shah Rukh Khan is now gearing up for his next, titled "Jawan" and Yash Raj Films has decided to distribute this highly-anticipated action entertainer in the international markets. The movie is directed by Atlee Kumar and produced by SRK's home banner Red Chillies Entertainer. ## It was recently reported that Aditya Chopra's YRF had offered to release "Jawan" internationally as a thank-you gesture for "Pathaan" historic success and now, it has officially been confirmed. Pictures' horror thriller Evil Dead Rise, which was almost landed directly on streaming, has become the highest-grossing film in the Evil Dead franchise at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office. ## The fifth installment in the series, "Evil Dead Rise" has crossed the $100 million mark at the worldwide box office, surpassing the lifetime total of $97.50 million of the 4th film "Evil Dead" which was released in 2013. The total worldwide cume of the film reached $114.80 million, including $60.70 million internationally through the third weekend.## The Lee Cronin-directed film is projected to reach $54+ million at the domestic (North America) box office by 3rd Sunday and is likely to top fourth "Evil Dead's" lifetime domestic haul of $54.20 million to become the biggest film in the series domestically as well. ## The original "Evil Dead" was directed by Sam Raimi in 1981, and earned $2.90 million worldwide. Raimi went on to make "Evil Dead 2" in 1987, which earned $5.90 million worldwide, and "Army of Darkness" in 1992, which made $11.50 million, before Fede Álvarez directed the 4th installment. ## Interestingly, "Evil Dead Rise" has emerged as a surprise blockbuster in India with an estimated gross total of $4 million through the 3rd Sunday. It is the second Hollywood film in the last two months to have big box office success in India after Keanu Reeves-fronted "John Wick: Chapter 4" which grossed around $7.50 million.## Made on a budget of around $20 million, "Evil Dead Rise" was destined for a streaming release on Max before strong test scores encouraged Warner Bros. to give it a proper theatrical release, and it turned into a massive blockbuster for the studio. ## Stay tuned...

This sort of growth was always on the card after the movie managed to attract super-positive reviews and word of mouth. ## The collection of The Kerala Story is strong all over, largely thanks to its controversial subject which is attracting audiences to the cinemas. Going by the early estimates, TKS has scored around 12.50 crores net on its second day/first Saturday. ## Directed by Sudipto Sen, The Kerala Story is very much like Vivek Agnihotri's The Kashmir Files which created a sensation last year. TKF was also supported by the controversy which helped the film to post over 300 crores in collection worldwide. ## The Kerala Story, however, had more than double opening of The Kashmir Files which scored 27+ crores on opening weekend. The opening of the film was strong enough with 8+ crores net and positive word of mouth has ensured that TKS is going to enjoy a very good opening weekend. ## The total net collection of the movie stands at around 20.5 crores after two days and the weekend is looking to be around 37.00 crores which is an excellent number for a low-budget flick. Hyderabad, May 6 - Over the last few years, it has been reported that superstar Prabhas would be teaming up with director Siddharth Anand for a big-budget action entertainer. Mythri Movie Makers was on board to bankroll the project and even reportedly gave advances to Anand for the same. ## While the fans were excited about this blockbuster collaboration, things didn't work out to take the movie on floors due to the covid-19 pandemic and other commitments of both Prabhas and Siddharth. And now, the latest reports have confirmed that the movie in question has been shelved. ## According to Pinkvilla, Siddharth Anand has refunded the advances he took for the movie to Mythri Movie Makers. Since both Prabhas and Siddharth are busy with their ongoing projects, it was not possible for them to match their dates which eventually forced the makers to put the movie on hold. ## The report further states that conversations on this Prabhas and Siddharth Anand film might take off again once both of them are relatively free which will take at least two to three years as both have multiple films in the pipeline. ## Prabhas is currently gearing up for the release of Om Raut's directed "Adipurush" which is slated for June 16, followed by Prashanth Neel's "Salaar" on September 28 this year. He also has Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic "Project K" and Maruthi's "Raja Deluxe" currently in production and both will be released in 2024. ## Apart from the aforementioned films, Prabhas will headline Sandeep Reddy Vanga's "Spirit" and the shoot for the same is expected to commence by the end of this year. He will also reunite with Neel for a mythology film called "Raavanam" which will be produced by Dil Raju. ## Siddharth Anand, on the other hand, currently directing Hrithik Roshan's "Fighter" which is gearing up for January 2024 release and his next will be "Tiger vs Pathaan" featuring superstars Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been billed as a special film in the MCU for many reasons. ## Not only was GoTG3 the final film in this much-loved superhero series, but the threequel was also director James Gunn's final MCU movie. Just like the first two Guardians movies, the latest flick is also getting wide praise from the audiences and now, it has created a new MCU record in ratings. ## The threequel currently opens at a 4.2 rating out of 5 on Letterboxd, making it the highest-rated MCU movie, distributed by Disney on the social platform. The original Guardians of the Galaxy movie scored a 3.8 rating on Letterboxd, while Vol. 2 has a 3.5 rating.## "Spider-Man: No Way Home", which was distributed by Sony Pictures, opened slightly higher at 4.3 ratings, but it currently stands at 4 ratings on the platform. ## Meanwhile, other than the Letterboxed's ratings, GoTG3 has received an "A" CinemaScore, which is on par with the first two films in the franchise. The Prabhas-fronted magnum opus is easily the most-anticipated Indian movie currently and the makers have planned it to make a worldwide sensation. ## Directed by Om Raut, the "Adipurush" trailer will be screened in cinemas across 70 countries to make it a global event. The makers want to leave a lasting impression on audiences by showing them the trailer on the big screen before launching it digitally on the same day.## Last year, "Adipurush" received a lot of backlash when the teaser was launched digitally. It becomes the first tentpole movie impacted by the strike. ## Marvel had recently hired "True Detective" creator Nic Pizzolatto to work on the script but it was too late for the studio to avail his service due to the strike.
