Early Estimates: Waltair Veerayya Rocks Mammoth Third Day; Veera Simha Reddy Is Good On Its Fourth Day

Hyderabad, January 15 - Megastar Chiranjeevi hits jackpot on the festival of Sankranthi 2023 in the form of action drama film Waltair Veerayya. Directed by Bobby, the movie has completed its 3-day opening weekend on a blockbuster note. ## After grossing approx. 57 crores in the first two days, "Waltair Veerayya" witnesses another mammoth day at the domestic box office as it scores an estimated 22+ crores gross on its third day/first Sunday to push the total collection to around 80 crores gross. ## Also starring Ravi Teja in a pivotal role, "Waltair Veerayya" scored approx. 35 crores share collection in the Telugu states in the first two days. The share collection on Sunday is likely to be in the range of 12 crores, for around 47 crores share in the opening weekend, which is more than 50% of the total business of the film. ## "Waltair Veerayya" also has a shot at crossing 100 crores gross worldwide in the opening weekend. Including today's estimated domestic collection, the worldwide total of the film is around 93 crores. If not today, it will surely go past 100 crores by tomorrow, to become Chiranjeevi's biggest grosser since "Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy" (2019). ## Meanwhile, Nandamuri Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy, after rocking the biggest opening day for an Indian movie in 2023, is holding on a decent level. The Gopichand Malineni-directed action drama grossed approx. 62 crores in the first three days, and grossed an estimated 12+ crores on its first Sunday for around 74 crores domestic opening weekend. ## The share collection of "Veera Simha Reddy" is around 44 crores after an estimated 7 crores share on Sunday. Mumbai, January 15 - Riteish Deshmukh's directorial debut, Ved is continuing its heroic run at the domestic box office, emerging as a big blockbuster for Marathi cinema.## The romantic drama film, which is a remake of the 2019 Telugu-language film "Majili", has completed 16 days and scored 44.92 crores net. The gross collection of the movie has crossed 50 crores and becomes only the second Marathi film of all time to achieve the feat. ## Produced by Genelia Deshmukh, "Ved" has crossed blockbuster "Pawankhind's" lifetime collection (45 crores gross) to emerge the second highest-grossing Marathi film ever, behind only "Sairat" which is the only Marathi film to gross over 100 crores worldwide, 110 crores approx. ## "Ved" stars Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh in the leading roles, reprising the roles of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu played in the original Telugu movie. SSMB 28: Superstar Mahesh Babu's Next To Release In August 2023

Hyderabad, January 15 - Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu reunites with director Trivikram Srinivas for his next film, tentatively titled SSMB 28. The shoot for the same commenced last year but the actor reportedly wasn't happy with the script and how the shoot was progressing as the makers scrapped the shot portions to plan things differently. ## Despite the issues, it didn't take makers too long to rectify those, and now, the makers are ready to start production from January 18, confirmed by producer Naga Vamsi. Pooja Hegde was already on board as the female lead and now, Sree Leela has also been roped in for the second female lead. ## "SSMB 28" was originally announced for April 2023 release but due to the delay in the shoot, producer Vamsi confirmed that the release has been postponed and the movie will now be hitting theaters worldwide on August 11, 2023, during the Independence Day week.## Produced by Haarika & Hassine Creations, "SSMB 28" is one of the most anticipated Telugu films and it is surely going to spread magic at the box office. Mumbai, January 15 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi come together for the first time for director Raj Mehta's comedy-drama Selfiee, which is a remake of the Malayalam film "Driving License". ## Produced by Dharma Production, Prithviraj Productions, and Cape Of Good Films, "Selfiee" has been confirmed to hit theaters on February 24 this year. On Sunday (January 15), the makers of the film unveiled the first look motion poster which shows Akshay and Emraan at loggerheads. ## Akshay took to Twitter to share the motion poster and wrote, "Fans make a star. Chennai, January 14 - Thalapathy Vijay's family action drama film Varisu sees a big Saturday at the box office, added by the Telugu version "Varasudu" which released today. ## Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, "Varisu" scored an estimated 19+ crores gross on its 4th day/first Saturday. The Telugu version grossed an estimated approx. 4.50+ crores on the first day. "Varasudu" had a low advance booking for the opening day but surprised one and all with excellent spot booking.## The total domestic gross collection of "Varisu" now stands around 76 crores, including the Telugu version, after 4 days. The movie has crossed 50 crores gross in the home state, Tamil Nadu with today's collection, and worldwide it crossed 100 crores gross, becoming the first Indian film of 2023 to do so. ## Ajith Kumar's "Thunivu", which had a direct clash with "Varisu" is legging behind the Vijay-starrer despite putting up a good collection so far. Hyderabad, January 14 - Megastar Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja's action drama Waltair Veerayya has had an excellent opening day at the domestic box office for approx. 35 crores. The movie managed to outdo conservative opening-day expectations and put up very good numbers. ## Directed by Bobby, "Waltair Veerayya" got mixed to positive responses and despite that, the movie sees a phenomenal hold on the second day. As per the early estimates, the film grossed 20+ crores on its second day, dropping below 40%. The share collection on the second day is approx. 13 crores.## The total domestic gross collection of "Waltair Veerayya" after two days is approx. 56 crores gross while the share collection is around 36 crores, which is approx. 40% of the total business of the movie. The advance booking for Sunday is excellent for the movie, indicating another big day at the box office for it. ## Meanwhile, Nandamuri Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy had a huge drop of approx. 75% on the second day for 10 crores gross. It witnesses a good jump of around 40% on its 3rd day for an estimated 14+ crores gross. The total gross collection for the movie now stands at around 63 crores after 3 days while the share collection is around 38 crores. ## Both "Waltair Veerayya" and "Veera Simha Reddy" are getting advantage of the Sankranthi holidays with the former clearly showing signs of audiences' acceptance after the big opening days advantages. Mumbai, January 14 - Superstar Shah Rukh Khan's spy action thriller Pathaan is less than two weeks away from its much-awaited worldwide release. The movie marks SRK's return to the big screen after more than four years so there is genuine excitement among moviegoers. ## Directed by Siddharth Anand, "Pathaan" is scheduled to release on January 25 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages also in IMAX. While the advance booking for the movie is expected to open in the next couple of days in India, Yash Raj Films has already commenced advances in key international markets and the response so far is pretty impressive. ## The pre-sales of "Pathaan" in North America have crossed $510K (4.14 crores*). In Germany, the pre-booking for the movie has crossed €170K (1.50 crores*) while in Australia, it is approx. A$260K (1.45 crores). Chennai, January 13 - The two Pongal releases, Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu and Ajith Kumar's Thunivu are having neck-to-neck competition at the box office with the former having a little advantage at the domestic box office after two days. ## Both films had a good hold on their second day despite dropping in the range of 50% each. The two days domestic gross collection for Thalapathy Vijay-starrer is approx. 45 crores while Ajith-fronted has grossed 42.50 crores.## "Varisu" witnessed another good hold on its 3rd day and scored an estimated 12 crores gross, dropping approx. 10%. The total domestic collection for the movie now stands at approx. 57 crores after 3 days with 2 big weekend days ahead of it. The movie is eyeing 85+ crores gross in the 5-day opening weekend. ## "Thunivu", on the other hand, sees a bigger drop of around 23% than "Varisu" on its 3rd day/first Friday for an estimated 10 crores gross. The total domestic gross collection for the movie reaches approx. 52 crores in 3 days. ## The direct clash between "Varisu" and "Thunivu" has clearly dented both's box office chances as none of them are able to utilize their full potential. Despite the mixed reviews and audiences' responses, the Bobby-directed film utilizes the Sankranthi holiday. ## As per the early estimates, "Waltair Veerayya" grossed an estimated 33+ crores on the opening day. The share collection is expected to be 20+ crores, which is almost 1/4 of the total business of the movie.## "Waltair Veerayya" has a much better opening than Chiranjeevi's last release "Godfather" which opened to around 24 crores gross last year. The latest tentpole could have taken an even bigger start if it had got a solo release as there is also Nandamuri Balakrishna's "Veera Simha Reddy". ## Meanwhile, "Veera Simha Reddy", which opened to the biggest start for an Indian movie in 2023 with a domestic gross collection coming in close to 40 crores, has a drop on its second day. As per the early estimates, the movie dropped in the range of 60% for an estimated 10+ crores gross. The final numbers on the second day can go to 12-13 crores depending the night shows. ## The Gopichand-directed movie gets affected due by "Waltair Veerayya" as the screen count reduced drastically but still, the second-day numbers are poor considering the huge opening.
