Avatar Confirmed Titles of Its Sequels

Los Angeles, December 28 - Blockbuster filmmaker James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of Water has officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office and all it took to reach the milestone is just 14 days since its global rollout began on December 25. ## "Avatar: The Way of Water" is the 3rd James Cameron-directed movie to top $1 billion globally after "Titanic" (1997) and "Avatar" (2007). Cameron's next films will be "Avatar 3" and "Avatar 4" while it is not yet confirmed whether he will direct the 5th installment of "The Avatar" franchise.## The third installment of "Avatar" has been titled Avatar: The Seed Bearer which is scheduled to hit theaters on December 20, 2024. Cameron revealed that 95% shot of "Avatar 3" has already been completed along with 5% initial portion of "Avatar 4", which is titled Avatar: The Tulkun Rider is also done. "Avatar 4" will hit theaters on December 18, 2026. ## "Avatar 5", which is not yet confirmed who will direct, has been titled Avatar: The quest for Eywa and it will be released on December 22, 2028. Los Angeles, December 28 - Daniel Craig-fronted mystery film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has debuted at number 1 on Netflix, but failed to score the top 5 spots in the all-time list. ## Directed by Rian Johnson, the sequel scored 82.1 million viewing hours in the opening weekend (Dec. 23 - 25) and was the number 1 movie (English and non-English) worldwide on the streamer during Dec. 19 - 25 week. It scored the 6th biggest opening weekend for Netflix of all time. ## The top five biggest Netflix films in the opening weekend are "Red Notice (148.72 million hours), "Don't Look Up" (111.03 million hours), "The Adam Project" (92.43 million hours), "The Gray Man" (88.55 million hours), and "The Unforgivable" (85.86 million hours). ## "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" is the first Netflix movie to get a theatrical release from all three major American theater chains (AMC Theatres, Cinemark Theatres, and Regal Cinemas) after director Johnson pushed the streamer for big screen release first.## The movie had a low release in over 700 theaters in North America but made a big impact as it grossed around $13 million over the five-day holiday weekend. It minted $317.10 million domestically (North America) and $712.70 million at the international box office. It is the 52nd film ever to top $1 billion at the global box office and 6th fastest ever.## China has been the leading international box office market of "Avatar 2" with $108.50 million, followed by France with $68.2 million. The actor's action thriller Krack, which was released in January 2021, grossed approx. 60 crores worldwide and was declared a blockbuster. ## After "Krack", Ravi Teja had to wait for his next release due to the severe covid-19 outbreak, and when his next film "Khiladi" was released in February 2022, things weren't the same this time, and the movie was bombed at the box office. He had hoped to turn the tide with "Ramarao On Duty", released in July, but it turned out to be an even bigger disaster, leaving the makers shocked. ## It was always about one good film for the actor to back in the game and it finally came in the form of "Dhamaka". Mumbai, December 25 - James Cameron's mega movie Avatar: The Way of Water is continuing with its phenomenal run at the Indian box office. The movie has already become the second highest-grossing Hollywood movie, behind only "Avengers: Endgame" and now, it has reached another milestone. ## The sci-fi epic, which is the sequel to the all-time grosser of Cameron's "Avatar" (2009), has crossed 300 crores gross in India in just 10 days. It has scored approx. 305 crores ($37 million) in all languages, including approx. 30 crores gross on its second Sunday (10th day). ## The original English language of the movie has been the best performing with approx. 161 crores gross, followed by approx. 99 crores in Hindi. The South Indian languages have contributed approx. 45 crores gross. The movie has also crossed 250 crores net collection and will be breaching the 300 crores mark by Thursday or Friday. ## India has been the 4th biggest market for "Avatar" outside the domestic (North American) market. In North America, the movie has grossed approx. $253 million (approx. 2090 crores). Mumbai, December 25 - Book My Show, the online movie ticket portal, recently revealed the top 10 movies of 2022 with the highest number of tickets sold on its platform. Yash-fronted "KGF: Chapter 2" has been the most-watched Indian film of 2022 with over 50 million footfalls in theaters. ## Apart from revealing the top 10 movies, Book My Show also revealed which Indian cities witnessed the highest number of footfalls this year. While the portal didn't reveal the number of tickets, it announced that Hyderabad sold the highest number of tickets this year on BMS. ## The Telugu film industry has had great success this year, led by SS Rajamouli's mega-blockbuster "RRR" along with Mahesh Babu's "Sarkaru Vaari Paata", "Bheemla Nayak", "Karthikeya 2", and "Sita Ramam" along with many others. Kannada biggie, "KGF: Chapter 2" also did excellent business in Telugu states. ## The silicon valley of India, Bengaluru was also the top contributor to the Indian film industry as BMS announced it sold the second-highest number of movie tickets in the city in 2022. The Kannada film industry has been the biggest box office contributor this year, thanks to the biggest grosser of the year "KGF 2", along with the surprise monster blockbuster "Kantara", "777 Charlie", and "Vikrant Rona". ## The Hindi film industry wasn't top of its game in 2022 but still, the key contribution from the films like "Brahmastra", "The Kashmir Files", "Drishyam 2", and "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2" along with the huge contribution from the Hindi versions of "KGF 2", "RRR", and "Kantara", Mumbai scored the 3rd highest number of footfalls this year, as per BMS. The aforementioned films also attracted Delhi NCR audience as it ranked 4th in the list. ## The Tamil film industry also performed well, led by two 400+ crores grossers - "Ponniyin Selvan Part - 1" and "Vikram" this year as Chennai city scored 5th highest number of tickets sold.
