MAI President Says Over 4000 Screens Will Participate In India's First Ever National Cinema Day

Mumbai, September 19 - The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) is expecting massive footfalls on India's first-ever National Cinema Day, scheduled this Friday, September 23. The association said that over 4000 screens - multiplex and single, across India will participate in NCD. ## An initiative of the MIA, the National Cinema Day will give the opportunity to the patrons to pay just Rs 75 per ticket and walk into any cinema of their choice to watch the movie along with other "special surprises" lined up for them. ## MAI President Kamal Gianchandani, who is also the CEO of PVR Pictures Ltd, said that participating cinema chains/screens include PVR, INOX, Cinepolis, Carnival, Miraj, City Pride, Asian, Mukta A2, Movietime, Wave, M2K, Delite, and even some single-screen operators, all over India.## "On average, there are 400 seats per auditorium, which makes around four million seats available in the country for filmgoers. From this, nearly 16,000 seats shall participate in the NCD", Gianchandani told IANS.## Along with the new films releasing on the day, some of the major films likely to be exhibited during the NCD, include KGF: Chapter 2, RRR, Vikram, Bhool Bhulaiya 2, or Hollywood big films like Doctor Strange, and Top Gun: Maverick. These are some of the globally appreciated films both critically and commercially and movie lovers can enjoy them on the big screen again on Sep. 23.## "The multiplexes may also make their own special offers, for people of all age groups, exclusions to welcome the people to the cinemas that day, but we can't reveal the details now", said Gianchandani.## He said that the NCD is intended to be a Thank You to the filmgoers who made it happen by returning to the cinemas after the two years of Coronavirus Pandemic closure, and a warm invitation to those who have still not made it to the local neighborhood movie-halls yet.## Gianchandani said the first quarter of the current fiscal notched up an impressive recovery for cinema operators in India after the covid-19 pandemic, and the NCD - which shall become an annual feature - will be a step forward in the direction.## Stay tuned...

Balki's psychological thriller Chup: Revenge of the Artist with Sunny Deol, Dulqueer Salmaan, and Pooja Bhatt in the leading roles. ## Shreya has proved over the last few years how brilliant an actress she is and that was the reason he got cast in "Chup", according to the director Balki. The actress plays the role of Nila, the love interest of Salmaan's character in the movie. ## Speaking about casting Shreya in the film, the renowned filmmaker said, "Shreya is a volcanic talent. Los Angeles, September 18 - Ranbir Kapoor-fronted Brahmastra Part One: Shiva has become the 10th highest-grossing Indian film at the USA box office. ## The Ayan Mukerji-directed fantasy action adventure film scored an estimated $1.1 million in its second weekend which takes its total collection to $6.8 million in the USA. The drop in the second weekend is huge but that couldn't stop the movie to outscore "Bajirao Mastani" ($6.6M) to become the 10th biggest movie there. ## Aamir Khan-fronted "Dangal" is the highest-grossing Bollywood movie in the USA with approx. $13 million while "Baahubali 2" is the biggest Indian grosser there with approx. $22 million.## Meanwhile, the biggest Bollywood movie ever, "Brahmastra" has crossed 200 crores net at the domestic box office for all languages. It scored an estimated 16 crores on its second Sunday, which pushes the total net cume to over 215 crores after 10 days. The tweet read, "A historic day for J&K UT! Inaugurated Multipurpose Cinema Halls at Pulwama and Shopian. It offers facilities ranging from movie screening, infotainment and skilling of youth".## On the first day, films like "RRR" and "Bhaag Mikha Bhaag" were shown to the audiences. "We will build such multipurpose cinema halls in every district of Jammu and Kashmir soon. It became a huge hit in the dubbed Hindi version and the makers are giving an extra touch to its sequel to make it a true Pan-Indian film. ## Meanwhile, director Sukumar said that the first part of the movie has been dubbed and will soon be released in Russia. Cameron said that his kids have watched the movie on streaming or on Blu-ray, however, when they watched it on the big screen, they understood its grandeur a bit more. ## "Avatar" is getting rereleased on September 23 worldwide, and Cameron hopes that the young movie fans, who "never had the opportunity to see it in a movie theater" will watch it now. ## "Even though they think they may have seen the film, they really haven't seen it. Box Office: Ayan Mukerji's 'Brahmastra' Becomes The Highest-Grossing Bollywood Movie of 2022

Mumbai, September 18 - Director Ayan Mukerji's fantasy action adventure feature, Brahmastra Part One: Shiva is all set to topple Vivek Agnihotri's The Kashmir Files to become the highest-grossing Bollywood movie during the entire covid-19 pandemic. ## The big screen entertainer takes just 10 days, including the second Sunday, to outshine TKF's lifetime worldwide total of 341 crores gross. TKF, however, will most probably remain the biggest blockbuster of 2022 knowing the fact that it generated massive profit for the makers against a very low budget of the movie. ## Nonetheless, "Brahmastra" has emerged as a hit at the box office despite the mixed reviews from critics. The movie is having a very good second weekend with an estimated 43-45 crores net. This will take the entire 10 days net collection to approx. 217 crores while the gross collection will be at 255 crores.## Including an estimated 95 crores from overseas markets, "Brahmastra's" total worldwide collection is looking to score around 350 crores after the second weekend (10 days). ## "Brahmastra" may go down to become the highest-grossing Bollywood movie of 2022 unless "Vikram Vedha", "Ram Setu" and "Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan" do something miraculous. ## It is not that the upcoming movie can't have a blockbuster run at the box office. Akshay Kumar's "Ram Setu" particularly has the potential to do wonders if it gets positive reviews.
