James Cameron Announces The Filming of Sci-Fi Epic 'Avatar 4' Has Begun

Anaheim, September 11 - Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron announced at D23 Expo that the production of Avatar 4 has officially started while filming continues on Avatar 3. The filmmaker wasn't present at D23 in person but did send in a video for attendees to offer updates on the upcoming Avatar sequels. ## Cameron's long-awaited "Avatar: The Way of Water" closed out the Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century panel at the D23 Expo Saturday by handing out 3-D glasses to everyone in the audience and showing off six extended scenes from the movie, scheduled to release in December this year. The post-production continues on "Avatar 2". ## Coming 13 years after the release of the original film, "Avatar 2" focuses on the oceans of Pandora, as new performance capture technology has been developed specifically for Cameron to shoot scenes underwater. Many of the film's cast had to learn how to free dive and hold their breath underwater to be able to perform their necessary scenes.## The new footage of "Avatar 2" was shown at the D23 Expo and hailed as a pure visual treat, including the best showcase for the underwater work, in which several younger Na'vi jump into a coral reef and swim around hundreds of vividly rendered aquatic wildlife.## 20th Century Studios produced the film, with Cameron and Jon Landau producing on a budget of about $250 million, according to Variety. Anaheim, September 11 - Marvel Studios has revealed the solid star cast of its upcoming superhero movie Thunderbolts at the D23 Expo. Apart from showing footage of various upcoming Marvel titles, Marvel-head Kevin Fiege revealed Marvel's anti-hero team for "Thunderbolts", which will conclude MCU's Phase 5. ## Wyatt Russell (John Walker/US Agent), Hannah John-Kamen (Ava/Ghost), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss (Valentina Allegra de Fontaine) are all part of Thunderbolts, and so is Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova/Black Widow, and Olga Kurylenko's Taskmaster. ## Red Guardian, Yelena, and Taskmaster all hail from the recent "Black Widow" movie, while Ghost was last seen in "Ant-Man and The Wasp". US Agent was one of the main antagonists of "The Falcon and The Winter Soldier", which of course also starred the beloved character Bucky Barnes.## Similar to DC's "Suicide Squad", the Thunderbolts are a team of antiheroes and villains who will be tasked to work together and achieve a certain goal. There have been dozens of members in the Thunderbolts comics. Hyderabad, September 10 - Superstar Prabhas' 2004 romantic actioner Varsham is getting ready for re-release with remastered version. The movie, directed by Sobhan, will most likely to re-release on Prabhas birthday on October 23 or a day before. ## Produced by M.S. Raju under the banner of Sumanth Art Productions banner, Varsham was the third highest-grossing Telugu film of 2004. It also starred Trisha Krishnan, and Gopichand along with Prakash Raj and Chandra Mohan, among others. The music was composed by Devi Sri Prasad. ## Varsham was remade in multiple other languages, including Hindi as "Baaghi", starring Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor. The Hindi version also became a huge hit and paved the way for two more films in the franchise. He was also doing JGM with director Puri Jagnnadh, but that movie has reportedly been put on hold. ## Meanwhile, according to the latest reports, Vijay Deverakonda is in talks with producer Dil Raju for a fantasy film. It is said that the producer had planned a fantasy film with VD in the direction of Indraganti Mohan Krishna a couple of years ago. ## Mohan Krishna's last film was Nani-starrer "V", which was released directly on the OTT platform. Dil Raju was reportedly so optimistic that Indraganti would deliver a massive hit with Nani's film, however, the movie did receive poor reviews and was a digital flop. ## Dil Raju is now looking to revive the film with some other directors and he is reportedly in consultations with VD to work on further plans. Harish Shankar is one of the names that is being discussed to direct the film. ## Vijay Deverakonda, meanwhile, will also do a film with Sukumar who will soon start the shooting of the second part of Allu Arjun's "Pushpa - The Rule". Mumbai, September 10 - Disney+ Hotstar, the video streaming platform owned by Walt Disney, has announced the adaptation of the epic Mahabharata at the D23 Expo. Disney has collaborated with Mythoverse Studios and Allu Entertainment to bring this ambitious project to the screens. ## Gaurav Banerjee, head of content and development, Disney+ Hotstar and HSM (Hindi-speaking market) entertainment network, Disney Star said the show, whose cast is still being worked out, will launch in 2024 and will be co-produced by Mantena, Mythoversestudios, and Allu Entertainment.## Disney Plus Hotstar took to Twitter and announced the show by releasing concept art pictures. ## pic.twitter.com/e2MALsHbR5— Disney+ Hotstar (@DisneyPlusHS) September 10, 2022 ## Disney has 221 million paid subscribers globally, out of which, Hotstar makes up around 58 million, Disney said. While all of our global brands such as Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars are available across our different platforms, we understand that some of them may not resonate as well with local audiences in certain markets", said Rebecca Campbell, chairman, of international content and operations at Walt Disney. ## Disney is looking at content white spaces, Campbell said, or in other words, trying to come up with local stories with talent that is familiar. Washington, September 10 - Two years after the original announcement, Disney has confirmed Mufasa: The Lion King title of the prequel to the 2019 Lion King film at D23. The film will be directed by the acclaimed "Moonlight" director Barry Jenkins. ## According to Variety, the prequel tells the origin story of the iconic Disney father, exploring his childhood growing up with his brother Scar. The film will feature the voice of Aaron Pierre and Kelvin Harrison Jr. as younger versions of the characters, filling in for James Earl Jones as Mufasa in both the 1994 original and the 2019 CGI remake, and Jeremy Irons and Chiwetel Ejiofor as the villainous Scar.## In addition to announcing the title, exclusive preview footage of the film was also shown to the audience at the D23 expo. The footage began with Rafiki (John Kani) telling the story of Mufasa to young cubs, revealing that the lion was actually an orphaned cub who had to navigate the world alone until he rose to become the king of Pride Rock. ## As such, the film goes beyond the iconic Pride Lands to show him as a cub in a desert, where he is swept away by a flood and becomes an orphan. Although brief, the footage also included narration from Billy Eichner's Timon, in a meta joke tag for the footage: "Wait wait wait, am I not in this story? I don't feel seen".## "The Lion King" has been one of the most loved Disney films of all time, with both, the original and remake grossing over $2.6 billion at the global box office. The original remains a critically acclaimed classic and grossed over $960 million worldwide, followed by $1.66 billion for the remake in 2019.
