'House of the Dragon' Breaks HBO Viewership Records For Series Premiere

Los Angeles, August 23 - The prequel series of HBO's global hit "Game of Thrones" - House of the Dragon takes domestic viewership by storm. The first episode of the series premiered on August 21 and becomes the most-watched HBO and HBO Max premiere episode for any series. ## The fantasy drama series based on the A Song of Ice and Fire novels by George R. R. Martin began with a record 10 million viewers watching it on Sunday in the US, according to Warner Bros. Discovery. The company hasn't released the global stats yet. ## The "House of the Dragon's" 10-million viewership is more than double of the previous HBO record holder "Game of Thrones", which premiered with 4.2 million viewers exclusively on HBO in 2011. It has been reported that the HBO site got crashed upon the premiere of "House of the Dragon". ## Meanwhile, according to Samba TV, which independently measures terrestrial smart TVs, 2.6 million US households watched the prequel series during the first six hours after the episode's 9 p.m. ET premiere Sunday. That gave the Game of Thrones prequel the highest premiere-day viewership across cable and streaming so far this year, outperforming Netflix's global hit Stranger Things Season 4 same-day numbers of 1.2 million US households. ## Samba TV co-founder and CEO Ashwin Navin said (via comicbook), "HBO has once again tapped into the magic of Game of Thrones with its spinoff series, House of the Dragon. Diehard GoT fans have been eagerly anticipating more from the franchise and they turned out in force for House of the Dragon, with the HBO program generating the biggest single-day premium cable or streaming viewership premiere in 2022". ## Based on parts of the novel Fire & Blood, the series is set about 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. Apart from his already in-production films, Prabhas also has Sandeep Reddy Vanga's "Spirit" and yet to be announced a big budget film with director Siddharth Anand. ## It was reported last year that Siddharth Anand pitched a story to Prabhas which the actor liked and approved. It was said to be a stylish action thriller, to be backed by Mythri Movie Makers. However, there was no development since then until recently. ## According to Pinkvilla, Siddharth Anand has started preparation for Prabhas' film and is giving the final touch to the script before it is ready to take on floors by mid-2023. Siddharth recently completed the shoot of Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathaan", which is scheduled to release on January 25, 2023. ## "Both Prabhas and Siddharth are presently busy with their ongoing projects. However, the filmmaker has simultaneously started prepping for his collaboration with Prabhas. The film will be mounted on a large scale, and they want to start shooting for it in mid-2023. Siddharth will be locking the final script soon, and it will be shot in India and abroad too", reports Pinkvilla. ## Prabhas, meanwhile, will next be seen in director Om Raut's mega movie "Adipurush" which is slated for January 12, 2023, release. It was reported the movie has been shelved as the budget was going over, however, producer Karan Johar has denied such reports. ## Karan Johar, in interaction with peepingmoon, confirmed that the movie is not shelved but delayed as there were date issues with Tiger Shroff. "The only reason Screw Dheela was not made is that there was a date constraint and he had an exit in January to start Bade Miyan Chote Miyan". ## "We definitely plan to pursue Screw Dheela next year and another big action film along with many other plans with Tiger. Mumbai, August 22 - Marvel Studios' latest blockbuster Thor: Love and Thunder is getting ready for its digital release, after becoming the second highest-grossing Thor movie at the worldwide box office with $737 million so far. ## The Chris Hemsworth-starrer was released on July 6 in North America along with international markets. Disney had previously announced that all the Marvel titles will be premiered on Disney Plus after 45 days of theatrical release. However, it seems that the studio will not follow the suit for "Thor: Love and Thunder". ## According to the latest update from Marvel Updates' Twitter handle, the superhero movie will debut on Disney+ on September 8, that is after 9 weeks of the official theatrical release. ## In India, the movie will premiere on Disney+Hotstar in multiple languages. "Thor 4" has been a big hit at the Indian box office, grossing approx. 128 crores for all languages since its release on July 7. Addressing the gathering, Chiranjeevi said, "I've got this desire to build a hospital at Chitrapuri Colony. I have been nurturing this thought for some time now".## "I want to build a hospital at least with 10 beds. This hospital should be able to address all the health issues of cine workers, which don't require them to go to big hospitals. This hospital should be beneficial to all cine workers, who come under the BPL category or who get a daily wage", the actor said.## "The satisfaction I get out of doing this cannot be measured. So, the moment I got this thought, I started planning. The magazine said in a statement that Kangana's remarks, in which she threatened to sue Filmfare nominating her for this year's Filmfare awards against her objection, are malicious. ## It pains us at Filmfare, today, to be subjected to unwarranted malicious remarks by Ms. Kangana Ranaut", Filmfare said in a statement.
