Warner Bros. Seals Release Date For Joaquin Phoenix's 'Joker 2'
Los Angeles, August 4 - Warner Bros., in the quest of boosting its big event theatrical titles, has sealed the release date of the much-awaited Joker 2, to be directed by Todd Phillips. ## The sequel to this DC Comics-based psychological thriller film, titled Joker: Folie à deux, will be hitting theaters on October 4, 2024. Joaquin Phoenix, who scored his first Oscar for his performance in Joker, will be reprising his role as the DC villain. ## Interestingly, the original Joker movie also debuted on October 4 in 2019 in North America and went on to gross $1.07 billion at the worldwide box office. The film legged out to $335.4M domestic and globally it is the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time. It was also nominated for 11 Oscars and went on to win two of them. ## Meanwhile, Warner Bros. hasn't officially revealed the title of the sequel despite giving a hint of its being titled, Joker: Folie à deux, which is a French reference for a medical term pertaining to a mental disorder that affects two or more people of a family. ## As reportedly previously by The Hollywood Reporter, Lady Gaga is said to be playing Harley Quinn in Joker 2. ## As of now, the Joker sequel is on track to start filming in December this year. Todd Phillips recently confirmed that the script of the film has been completed, which he has co-written with Scott Silver. ## Stay tuned...
