There is a high possibility that the opening weekend numbers could soar well north of $100 million domestically. ## For the record, 2005's War of the Worlds is Tom Cruise's top domestic opening with a three-day gross of $65 million, followed by 2018's Mission: Impossible: Fallout at $61 million, as per THR. Among the big gainers on the streamer, Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi stands tall and has attracted massive viewership and remained in the top 5 most-watched non-English film for the 4th consecutive week. ## It is a rare feat for a movie to find its place in the top 5 for such a long time, especially when a film completed 8 weeks in theaters with excellent numbers. But Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed is doing this with ease and is the most-watched non-direct OTT Indian movie on Netflix. ## During its 4th week (May 16 - May 22) on the streamer, Gangubai Kathiawadi scored 8.8 million viewing hours, which is higher than the second week (8.3 million). The cumulative viewing hours number of GB has now reached 43.2 million in 27 days. It is trending in the top 10 films in 34 countries. It was trending in 23 countries in the 3rd week. ## SS Rajamouli's global box office blockbuster, RRR Hindi version has made a big debut on Netflix. Launched on May 20 after completing 8 weeks in theaters with approx. 1120 crores worldwide gross, the period action drama film scored 7.18 million viewing hours in the first 3 days.## RRR, starring Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn along with Olivia Morris among others, is trending in the top 10 non-English films in 14 countries on Netflix. It is currently the number one movie in India, Mauritius, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Maldives. Considering the fact that RRR is still making money at the box office, the viewership numbers of it are very good. ## Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor's Hindi remake of Telugu sports drama film Jersey scored 4.47 million viewing hours in its opening weekend and was the 7th most-watched non-English film last week. It was launched on Netflix on May 20, after completing its theatrical run where it didn't perform well. One of the main reasons behind its comparatively low numbers is that the dubbed version of the original movie is already available on YouTube for free. ## Thalapathy Vijay's Beast Hindi version Raw, which was released on Netflix on May 11, scored 2.58 million viewing hours in its second week. Chennai, May 24 - Actor Dhanush will have a busy year with back-to-back releases, including his big Hollywood debut, The Gray Man. Directed by Russo Brothers, the movie is touted to be a global spy thriller that also stars Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas in leading roles. It will premiere on Netflix on July 22. ## Dhanush, apart from The Gray Man, will be headlining his long-awaited romantic comedy, Thiruchitrambalam, which also stars Raashi Khanna, Nithya Menen, and Priya Bhavani Shankar as female leads, with Prakash Raj and Bharathiraja in supporting roles. Around 30 percent of the film has already been shot and the rest of the shoot will be completed by the end of this year before the movie gets ready for the Summer 2023 release. ## During the recent interview with Pinkvilla, producer Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films said that they are putting their best efforts to achieve big with the upcoming film. "We have set the bar very high for Salaar. It has grossed approx. 89 crores worldwide in just 10 days, including Rs. 69 crores at the domestic box office in both Tamil and Telugu languages. In Chennai city, Don has scored 6.15 crores, which is a fantastic result. Overseas, it has minted approx. 20 crores. ## The coming-of-age romantic comedy is one of the biggest grosser of 2022 in Tamil Nadu state. However, the star power of Mahesh Babu saved the movie as it is now heading towards a hit status. ## "Sarkaru Vaari Paata" had grossed Rs 144.3 crores in the first week at the domestic box office, which is the highest opening total for a regional movie in 2022. The collection on the second weekend remained on the lower side as it grossed Rs. 10.20 crores, pushing the total domestic gross to Rs. 154.5 crores through the second Sunday. ## The movie is super strong in the Telugu states. Mumbai, May 23 - Punjabi blockbuster "Saunkan Saunkne" has completed the second weekend at the box office with flying colors. The Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta, and Nimrat Khaira-starrer movie had scored an excellent first week at the worldwide box office with Rs. 30.10 crores gross. ## Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, the movie continued to be strong at the domestic box office and minted a very good Rs. 5.50 crores net in the second weekend. The weekend to weekend drop is just 43%, which is a phenomenal hold for a regional movie. At the overseas box office, it scored approx. 2.50 crores gross in the second weekend, taking the total worldwide collection to approx. 39 crores in just 10 days. ## "Saunkan Saunkne", produced by Naad Sstudios, JR Production House, and Dreamiyata, has also become the 6th highest-grossing Punjabi film of all time. The comedy-drama movie should be able to break into the top 5 as it might reach the 50 crores mark by the end of its run. Until now, only 4 Punjabi movies have reached the 50 crores gross mark at the worldwide box office, and "Saunkan Saunkne" could become the 5th on the list. ## While "Saunkan Saunkne" has had a record-breaking box office run so far, Marathi film "Dharmaveer" too is showing strong legs. It had minted Rs. 13.87 crores net in the opening week. The movie remained strong in the second weekend as well and scored Rs. 3.85 crores, pushing the total net collection to Rs. 17.72 crores.## Directed by Pravin Tarde, the movie follows a larger-than-life messiah for thousands, Anand Dighe aka Dharmaveer. He was considered a powerful muscleman in Thane and would hold a daily Durbar at his Tembhi Naka residence to hear out/resolve issues faced by Thane citizens along with Shiv Sena party workers.
