Superstar Puneeth Rajkumar To Be Conferred With Karnataka Ratna Award Posthumously

Bangalore, November 16 - Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar, who died last month at the age of 46, was one of the popular stars in Karnataka. Now, the government of Karnataka has decided to honour the late actor with the Karnataka Ratna award posthumously. ## The Karnataka Ratna is the state's highest civilian award. Puneeth Rajkumar was the son of veteran actor Rajkumar. He was cremated with state honors last month. The actor, who was the star of films like Mourya, Arasu, Raamand Anjani Putra, is survived by his wife Ashwini Revanth and has two children.## Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj S Bommai took to Twitter and announced the same. The long-awaited teaser introduced the characters of Akshay Kumar in the title role, along with Manushi Chhillar, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonu Sood. ## While the film is packed with superstars, former Miss World 2017, Manushi is making her grand Bollywood debut with this Yash Raj Films production. Co-starring Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds, the action comedy is the most-watched film on the first day, as announced by the streamer. ## Johnson played an FBI agent in the film who reluctantly teams up with a renowned art thief (Ryan Reynolds) in order to catch an even more notorious criminal (Gal Gadot). The "Fast & Furious" actor, however, wants to play James Bond in a future Bond film and follow in Sean Connery's footsteps. In case you are not aware, The Rock's grandfather, Peter Fanene Maivia, was a villain in 1967's Bond film "You Only Live Twice". ## However, unlike his grandfather who took part in an action sequence against Connery's James Bond, Dwayne Johnson doesn't want to play the villain and only has the desire to play the iconic 007 agent. ## "Yes, my grandfather was a Bond villain in You Only Live Twice with Sean Connery", Johnson told Esquire in a Q&A video interview. "It was very, very cool. And I would like to follow in his footsteps and be the next Bond. I don't wanna be a villain. Gotta be Bond".## Interestingly, James Bond producers Michael G. Los Angeles, November 16 - Disney Studios' "Jungle Cruise" has failed to attract Chinese audiences at the box office after a delayed release in the country. Starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, the family-friendly adventure film was released in China over the past weekend (Nov. 12) and could generate only $3.3 million in the first three days (Fri-Sun). ## "Jungle Cruise" had reportedly cost Disney around $200 million for the production. It was released in the US on July 30, simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+. It earned over $35 million at the domestic box office and estimated $30 million on Disney+ Premier Access in its first three days. Currently, it has earned over $215 million worldwide at the box office. ## The film, however, received positive word of mouth from Chinese audiences who watched the film in theaters. However, the rampant piracy, and a limited marketing effort from Disney in the "Fast & Furious" franchise-loving country, played a big part in the movie not performing well in China. ## "Jungle Cruises" scored 8.9 on Maoyan and 6.1 on Douban, similar to MGM's James Bond installment No Time to Die. While "No Time To Die" has earned $58 million so far in China after $4.4 million in its 4th weekend, Disney's film has been projected to earn a total of just $6.19 million, according to the Maoyan estimates.## A sequel to "Jungle Cruise" has been greenlit at Disney, for which, the announcement was made when the original film grossed $100 million at the North America box office. Michael Green, who co-wrote "Jungle Cruise" with Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, will write the Disney movie one more time while director Jaume Collet-Serra is also expected to return to direct the second part.## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, November 16 - Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor's most-anticipated comedy-drama film, "Laal Singh Chaddha" was first announced to release on Christmas 2020 before it was postponed to the same weekend in 2021. However, due to the second covid-19 wave, the makers thought it won't be ready by the end of this year, hence they decided to postpone it again to Valentine's Day weekend 2022, and announced it with much enthusiasm. ## The latest development around this big-budgeted film is that even February 2022 release looks uncertain. According to reports, the post-production of LSC will take a lot of time and it won't be ready by the said announced date. It is said that Aamir has now decided to postpone it by 2-3 months, and will release it in mid-2022. ## "Laal Singh Chaddha's post-production will take a lot of time. There's so much work pending in its post-production and it can no way be ready for a February release. It's a film made on a big canvas and requires at least six months of post-production work. Aamir and the makers don't want to compromise on the quality of the film and hence have collectively decided to postpone it again by 2-3 months to make it as envisioned", a source close to the project informed peepingmoon.com. ## While the new release date for "Laal Singh Chaddha" is yet to be locked, the report said that the Valentine's Day weekend slot has now been booked by a leading production banner for its yet-untitled upcoming relationship drama starring a top actress. ## LSC is the official remake of Tom Hanks' 1994 Hollywood classic "Forrest Gump". It is produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Viacom18 Studios, and Paramount Pictures and co-stars Kareena Kapoor, Naga Chaitanya (Hindi debut), and Mona Singh in prominent roles. Box Office: Sooryavanshi Go Past 150 Crores India Net After Strong Second Weekend

Mumbai, November 15 - Sooryavanshi continued its box office juggernaut and scored a brilliant ₹ 30.68 crores (estimate) in the second weekend. The strong second weekend helped this Akshay Kumar-fronted to go past ₹ 150 crores net in India, the 6th highest domestic figure for him. ## "Sooryavanshi" dropped 50% from the first Sunday for its second Sunday collection of ₹ 13.39 crores and down by 60% on the second weekend as compared to ₹ 77.08 crores in the opening Diwali weekend. The current domestic net collection for Rohit Shetty-directed stands at ₹ 151.23 crores after 10 days.## Overseas, "Sooryavanshi" has grossed approx ₹ 50 crores so far, which is the best overseas box office number for a Bollywood movie since December 2019 when Akshay's own film, "Good Newwz" grossed ₹ 74 crores. The total worldwide box office collection of "Sooryavanshi" stands at ₹ 228 crores, which is again, 6th highest gross worldwide total for the Bell Bottom actor. ## Katrina Kaif, who plays the female lead in "Sooryavanshi" also scored her 6th highest domestic earner. For director Rohit Shetty, "Sooryavanshi" becomes the 4th highest domestic net collection film, after "Simmba" (₹ 340 cr.), "Chennai Express" (₹ 227 cr.), and "Golmaal Again" (₹ 205.69 cr.). ## On the other hand, the Tamil movie "Annaatthe", featuring superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role, has crossed ₹ 100 crores net the domestic box office. The action drama film has had a fantastic start, scoring over ₹ 82 crores in the opening 4-day weekend (Thu-Sun), however, due to heavy rainfall and flood-like situation in Tamil Nadu, the collection got affected. Over the second weekend, it earned ₹ 5.90 crores, which helps Siva-directed to cross the ₹ 100 crore mark. ## Overseas, "Annaatthe" has earned approx ₹ 45 crores so far, taking its total worldwide gross to ₹ 163 crores. It has released over 1100 screens overseas in 66 countries, which is the widest ever release for a Tamil movie. The first look teaser, which got released without pre-announcement on Nov. 15, introduces Akshay's character as "the lion of Hindustan". Visually stunning, the teaser is all about valor and heroism. It is packed with fight scenes and the background music is the soul of it, which is given by Sanchit Balhara, Ankit Balhara. Manush Nandan takes care of cinematography. ## The film is based on the life of fearless Prithviraj Chauhan, a legendary warrior who fought valiantly against the merciless invader Muhammad of Ghor. Mumbai, November 15 - Filmmaker Rohit Shetty having an interview tour over the super success of his recently released, "Sooryavanshi", which he held back for more than 18 months to give a theatrical release. The Akshay Kumar-fronted cop-drama is very well accepted by the audiences and everyone has nice things to say about this film. ## However, despite all the love and positive word of mouth from the audiences of every type, there is a certain media group that has been questioning the casting of the villain of a Muslim outfit in the film. In a recent interview with The Quint (via opindia), the journalist pointed out that the 'good Muslim' and 'bad Muslim' scenario in the film is problematic.## Rohit Shetty, however, countered the question with a befitting reply and asked the journalist why no one had a problem when he cast Hindu villains in his previous three cop films. He questioned why the Hindu villains from the previous films were not objected to because of their caste. ## "If I ask you one question... Jaikant Shikre (in Singham) was a Hindu Marathi. Then a second film came where a Hindu godman was there. Then in Simmba, Durva Ranade was a Maharashtrian again. In these three, negative forces were Hindu, why isn't that a problem?" Shetty countered. ## He went on to say when the journalist tried to counter his remarks, "If there is a terrorist who is from Pakistan, what caste will he be?" Shetty said that such controversies had changed his point of view about many journalists. He said, "It changed my point of view of a few journalists whom I used to like. That oh, they are portraying it like I have seen in brackets somebody writing bad Muslims being preached by upper-caste Hindus, which is very wrong. We never thought that way".## The basic plot of "Sooryavanshi" is about Pakistani terrorists plotting more attacks in India after the 1993 Mumbai blasts, and the hero's efforts to stop them. Shetty's cop films have always been centered around celebrating Police for the good work they are doing on the line of duty. When The Quint journalist asked Shetty about his point of view on Police brutality, Shetty said, "Whoever asks me about my viewpoint on Police brutality, I only ask them to shut down Police headquarters for one day. Mumbai, November 14 - James Bond "No Time To Die" has crossed a mammoth $700 million at the global box office after $28.5 million worldwide this weekend. It becomes the 2nd Hollywood film, after Universal Pictures' "Fast & Furious 9", to reach the milestone during the covid-19 pandemic. It currently stands at $708 million, including $150 million in North America. ## Daniel Craig's swan song as James Bond, "No Time To Die" continued to remain strong at the domestic box office despite being available on PVOD as of this past Tuesday. It grossed $4.62 million in its 6th weekend top $150 million domestic box office. It is likely to cross "A Quiet Place part II" ($160 million) to place fifth during the pandemic. ## "No Time To Die" is currently the 6th highest-grossing film in the Bond franchise at the domestic box office, behind only the 2002 "Die Another Day" ($161M), $167 million in 2006, $168 million in 2008, $304 million in 2012, and $200 million in 2015. Inflation notwithstanding, the 25th Bond film is the 3rd highest at the worldwide BO in the franchise, after "Skyfall" ($1.1 billion), and "Spectre" ($880 million). ## Cary Joji Fukunaga-directed will most likely cross "F9's" global box office total of $721 million, including $549 million overseas, by the end of the next weekend, to become the top-grossing Hollywood film during the pandemic. It has earned $126 million in the United Kingdom so far. In China, it has earned $58 million in the first 17-days of release there. The lifetime global box office run for "No Time To Die" is projected to reach $760 million. ## In the film, Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Christoph Waltz, Rory Kinnear, and Ralph Fiennes reprise their roles from previous films, with Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Ana de Armas, Dali Benssalah, Billy Magnussen, and David Dencik joining the cast as new characters.## Stay tuned...
