Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has acknowledged Suresh Raina's contribution to cricket and greeted him with an appreciation letter. Raina who played for India for almost 15 years, hanged his boots from the international cricket along with former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the evening of Independence Day of India (August 15). ## Yesterday (August 20), Mahendra Singh Dhoni had shared the letter sent to him by the PM on his Twitter handle and thanked the Prime Minister for his nice gesture. "An Artist, Soldier and Sportsperson what they crave for is appreciation, that their hard work and sacrifice is getting noticed and appreciated by everyone. thanks PM @narendramodi for your appreciation and good wishes", Dhoni wrote on Twitter. ## To begin with, the PM wrote about the toughest decision of 'retirement' taken by Raina at such a young age and wished him for his second innings after a 'fruitful innings on the cricket field'. The PM further recalled Raina's cricket journey from began early in life in Muradnagar to representing India in all three formats. ## Apart from being a fine batsman, Suresh also came handy with the ball and had often provided breakthroughs when the situation 'demanded'. The PM remembered all this especially his fielding which was fierce and cool at the same time. Through his alertness in the field, he used to save crucial runs for the team and taking some breathtaking catches. ## Suresh Raina who started his international career with ODIs, modified himself as a T20 specialist. Raina is the first Indian to score a century in the shortest format of the game and also the first Indian to score a century in all three formats. The entire nation pouring tribute to the legendary cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni who announced his retirement from the international cricket on Independence Day of India (August) and put an end to his 16-years of the glorious career. ## The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi wrote a two-page official letter to MS Dhoni acknowledging his contribution to cricket and the nation. To begin with, the PM wrote that Dhoni's style of announcing retirement has become "a topic of discussion for the entire nation". He further added that because of his sudden retirement "130 crore Indians were disappointed" but at the same time are "eternally grateful" for all that he has done for "Indian cricket in the last decade and a half".## MS Dhoni has been one of the most successful captains of all-time while he is the only captain who won all three ICC trophies - ICC T20 World Cup (2007), ICC ODI World Cup (2011), ICC Champions Trophy (2013). Remembring the same, the PM wrote "you have been one of the most successful captains, instrumental in taking India to the top of the world charts". He went on to add that Dhoni's name will go down as one of the batting greats, captains, wicket-keepers the game has seen. ## The PM further wrote "Your dependability in tough situations and your style of finishing matches, particularly the 2011 World Cup Final, will forever be etched in the public memory for generations". While recounting Dhoni's achievements, career statistics, match-winning roles, the PM wrote that the cricketer won't be remembered only for this but the correct way to assess his impact is as a "phenomenon". ## Coming from a small town city, Ranchi MS Dhoni has made a name for himself and made India proud at every platform he appeared. He has inspired the young India in many ways and make them believe that everything can be achieved through determination and the right spirit. PM Modi wrote everything from the beginning of Dhoni's career to the end of his career. ## The PM also appreciated Dhoni for his special association towards India's "armed forces" and wrote that "You were the most happy being among our army personnal. Your concern towards their walefare has always been remarkable". ## "I hope Sakshi (Dhoni's wife) and Ziva (daughter) get to spend more time with you. Team India's star opening batsman and the vice-captain in the limited-overs cricket, Rohit Sharma to be honoured with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award — India's highest sporting honour along with 4 other athletes. ## Rohit Sharma will only be the 4th cricketer to receive this prestigious award after the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, recently retired Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and the current India captain Virat Kohli. Tendulkar was awarded the Khel Ratna in 1998, Dhoni got it in 2007 and Kohli received in 2018. ## Rohit Sharma earned the nomination after the remarkable year of 2019 with the bat. He had his best year in terms of statistics across formats especially in ODIs. However, makers decided to give a chance to the film for a theatrical release and was reportedly announced for release on the January 1, next year. ## FYI, Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Productions had earlier bought the distributions rights of the film worth INR 50 crore as the film remains in the hot list of the film's trade as the exhibitors anticipate it to generate the big cash once the movie releases upon the re-opening of cinemas. ## Talking about the film, it is a remake of the 1995 comedy film of the same name starred Govinda and Karishma Kapoor in the lead role. The movie was announced on Tuesday (August 18), and this dream project of Om Raut is said to be an adaption of Ramayana.## This mega budgeted project will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair under the banners of T-series and Retrophiles. Dream 11 Bags Title Sponsorship For The IPL 2020

Fantasy cricket platform Dream 11 has bagged the title sponsorship for the Indian Premier League 2020 with a winning bid of INR 222 crore.## Dream 11 beat Unacademy (INR 171 crore) and Byju's (INR 201 crore) to clinch the deal which will run from 18 August to 31 December 2020, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed to Cricbuzz. ## Earlier, BCCI had suspended the VIVO's title sponsorship for the year 2020. VIVO had signed a five-year deal in 2018 worth INR 2199 crore, which earned BCCI about INR 440 crore a season.## According to the revenue sharing agreement between BCCI and IPL franchise owners in 2018, the teams earned 50 percent of the income from the central rights - including broadcast, title, and other sponsorship deals struck by the board.## This means approximately INR 111 crore will be split between the franchises for this season, which is about half of the amount (INR 220 crore) received from the VIVO's sponsorship .## This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the rise in the coronavirus cases in India, IPL will be played in the UAE from 19 Septemeber to 10 November.## Stay tuned...
