IPL 2020 Is Set To Begin On September 19 With New Match Timings

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, is all set to kick-off from September 19 with the final to be played on November 10 in the UAE. It will be the longest 8-team IPL edition which is 53-days long. ## Following the IPL Governing Council meeting on Sunday (August 2), that matches will be played in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi subject to necessary clearances from the Government of India. It is important that the Sports Ministry of India has given a go-ahead to the tournament while the approvals from the Home Ministry and Ministry of External Affairs are expected soon. ## The IPL governing council has also given a nod to the 3 sides Women's T20 Challenge for the 4-matches that will take place during the IPL play-off week from 1-10 September.## Some key decisions were taken in the meeting today, meanwhile -## => The night matches will start at 19:30 IST instead of the 20:00 IST while the afternoon ones at 15:30 IST instead of 16:00 IST. ## => All the matches will be played in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi. ## => There will be a total of 10 double-headers. ## => Maximum 24 players to be allowed in the squad per team. ## => Unlimited Covid-19 Substitutes.## => Four matches of the Women's T20 Challenge will take place during the IPL play-off week to be played by three teams.## => VIVO to continue to be the sponsorship partners of the IPL 2020. ## "The Governing Council also discussed the comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), which will be finalized and published in due course, including the agencies to execute and deliver a bio-secure environment for the safe and successful conduct of IPL 2020 Season," said the statement. ## Stay tuned...

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui whose 'Raat Akeli Hai' was recently premiered on Netflix, opens up about the same. ## Speaking to a leading portal, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said, "There is freedom and there is an advantage (of releasing movies) especially with bigger OTT platforms like Netflix. There is an advantage because, when a film made on the budget of Rs 100-150 crore is released in the theatres, it takes over all the screens, even if the movie is shit."## He further said that the lower budget movies that do not get enough shows because of the big-budget movies in theaters, on OTT platform even the low budget movies get same kind of viewership.## "On the other hand, good, low budget films do not get screens and even if they get it will get a show at 11 in the morning or 11 in the night. The BCCI president Sourav Ganguly confirmed on Sunday (August 2) that an expended women's T20 challenge is in the process and will be played during the men's IPL 2020 playoffs week from 1-10 November in the UAE. However, just like the men's IPL, the tournament will need the government of India clearances. ## Speaking to Press Trust of India (PTI), Sourav Ganguly said, "I can confirm to you that the women's IPL is very much on and we do have a plan in place for the national team also".## BCCI is also planning a series in South Africa and in West Indies as build-up assignments before the women's World Cup 2021 in New Zealand after the Women's T20 Challange. ## The T20 challenge, should it go ahead in the aforementioned window, significantly minimizes the chances of Indian representation in this year's Women's Big Bash League which is slated to begin from October 17 to November 29. ## It is very likely that the top Australian cricketers may not participate in the women's T20 challenge for the second year in a row. Bihar Police that is investigating actor Sushant Singh Rajput death case along with the Mumbai Police has alleged that Mumbai Police is not supporting their investigation as they haven't yet received even the basic documents related to Sushant's case. ## Ever since Sushant's untimely demise, Mumbai Police has been investigating the high profile death case but recently, Bihar Police also get involved after an FIR was filed against Rhea Chakraborty and five other by Sushant's father KK Singh in Patna on July 28. ## Soon after Bihar Police started their investigation, there were some reports that Mumbai Police isn't cooperating with them. Movies And Web Series Airing Military Content Will Have to Get NOC From Ministry Of Defence Now On

After many complaints and objections received from the concerned citizens, the Ministry of Defence has taken a big step against the movies and web series that air military content. From now on, any kind of content on the military will have to obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) or clearance from the Ministry of Defence. ## The Ministry of Defence has written a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (Ministry of I&B) to advise production houses to obtain NOC from them before telecasting any film/documentary/web series on army theme in the public domain. The letter was sent by the Ministry of Defence on July 27. ## "In some of the web series like 'Code M' on Zee 5 and 'XXX Uncensored (season-2)' on ALT Balaji, the scenes related to the Army are far from reality and present a distorted image of the Armed Forces," said a senior government official as reported by News 18. ## The step to make obtaining NOC mandatory has been taken after much deliberation. Sources further pointed out that this has been done "to curtail the incidents which distort the image of the defence forces and hurt the sentiments of the defence personnel and veterans", reported News 18.## The military has been very particular about its image and the content projected in different web series or documentaries or movies. Bollywood films on the military go through a mandatory clearance process. However, with increased OTT platforms, the military feels that it needs to moderate any possible alleged negative depiction of the uniform.## Stay tuned...

Former India captain Anil Kumble reveals that team India wanted to withdraw from the 2007-08 Australia tour after Harbhajan Singh was suspended for 3 matches following the 'Monkeygate' incident. However, the team later changed their mind and decided that the best approach would be to try and draw the four-Test series by winning the third and fourth matches. ## During the second test match in Sydney, off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, and Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds were involved in verbal wrangling during which the off-spinner allegedly leveled a racist remark against Symonds. The incident led to Harbhajan's suspension for 3-matches before it was overturned on an appeal later. ## Anil Kumble who was the captain of Indian test team then said during a conversation with Ravichandran Ashwin on his YouTube channel that, "You know as a captain you're generally tuned to take decisions on the field".## "Here I was faced with something, which was off the field, to take a decision in the larger interest of the game. And one of our players [Harbhajan Singh] was obviously banned for three matches because of a racist remark – that was what the pronouncement was and we appealed".## "I felt he was wronged. We had to obviously be together as a team but the challenge was that there was a lot of talk about the team wanting to come back at that point in time. Yes, you know, probably [people] would have accepted that the Indian team was wronged and that’s why they came back".## He further said that even they wanted to withdraw but decided to stay as they thought this would be the best message that they can give back to their fans. ## "I think as a captain, or as a team, we had gone there to win the series. Unfortunately, with the first two results not going our way, the best result could have been a drawn series because two more Test matches remained, and I just wanted to rally around the team. I was fortunate enough to have senior players, former captains, in the team".## "We got around as a unit and then we sort of took a decision to continue, and make sure that we go on and win the next couple of matches because that would be the best message that we can give back to our fans. He announced this action series in a special event where he set himself fire to give a sneak peek about the series. ## The series was going to begin in December this year but due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Akshay Kumar's other commitments, the series will now be on floors in the mid of the year 2021. According to reports, Akshay will finish his pending work before begin shooting for his digital debut series.## Talking to a leading daily, producer Vikram Malhotra said, "The show was to roll in December tentatively, with Akshay joining us in January 2021. But, it has been four months (into the lockdown), and it will be a few more months before normalcy is restored. Akshay, too, has other commitments.
