"Lalita Pawar was a great lady, continued her shoot despite burning her feet", reveals Ramayan's Sunil Lahri

Since the lockdown is undergoing due to coronavirus pandemic, many popular shows of the 80s and 90s including Ramayan and Mahabharat are being retelecasted to entertain the audience during this time. While the shows are receiving a massive response from the viewers, the star cast has been revealing interesting facts that went behind the scenes. ## Sunil Lahri who played the role of Laxman revealed an interesting fact about the late Lalita Pawar who played the role of Manthara in the Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan. Recently, during a virtual video conference, Sunil Lahri aka Laxman said that while they were shooting, there was a scene where Lord Rama returns to Ayodhya, Lalita Pawar injured but still continued her shoot. ## "Lalita Pawar Ji once suffered an injury. During a sequence when Lord Ram returns to Ayodhya, the entire set was lit with diyas. Lalita Ji being an enthusiastic actor did not realize and she walked over them, by mistake she stepped on the lanterns and both her feet got burnt. The spot dadas would carry her till the set from the room and she used to give her shot".## "In fact, she was asked to relax and rest, but she was such an excited actor that she would love to work. Nobody got to know that she was in pain, she showed no signs when she was on camera. She was so committed that despite the injuries she continued to shoot and hats off to her. She was a great lady," said the actor. ## Lalita Pawar who died in 1998, had worked in several films in different languages including Hindi, Marathi, and Gujrati. She received the Filmfare Award for the best-supporting actress for her role in Anari (1959). ##

'He didn't speak to me', Suresh Raina hits back at MSK Prasad

Suresh Raina has hit back at the former BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad who recently said that it was Suresh Raina's poor form that axed the player from the team India. He also said that he spoke to Raina about the future roadmap to comeback in the team and the player was agreed to his plan. ## Speaking to PTI, MSK Prasad had said, “See VVS Laxman, when he was dropped from the Indian Test squad in 1999, he forced himself back by scoring over 1400 runs in domestic cricket. This is what is expected from senior players when they are dropped,” ## “I had personally spoken to Raina calling him to my room and explained him the roadmap for his future comebacks. He had, back then, appreciated my efforts,” Prasad had said.## However, Suresh Raina in a live chat session with Irfan Pathan on Saturday has hit back at MSK Prasad and said he never spoke to him at all. ## “MSK Prasad said that I under-performed and also stated that he spoke to me about my axing, but he didn’t speak to me at all. When my time comes, I will play", Raina said during a chat with Irfan Pathan. ## It has been almost two years since Suresh Raina played his last international match. It was an ODI match against England at Headingley, Leeds on July 17, 2018. However, Raina couldn't make an impact as he scored only 1 run in that match before axing from the team. ## Stay tuned...

Suresh Raina: Players like him, should be allowed to play in foreign leagues

Suresh Raina has said that BCCI should give permission to non-contracted players to play in at least two foreign leagues. During a live chat session on Instagram with Irfan Pathan, Raina has said that players like himself, Yusuf Pathan, Robin Uthappa, and others how don't have a central contract should be allowed to participate in foreign T20 leagues. ## As of now, Indian players have not been issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to participate in any of the foreign leagues. He said that if players are allowed to play in other leagues, it will help them stay fit and hone their skills further.## "I wish BCCI plans something with ICC or the franchises... whichever player is not with a BCCI contract should be allowed to play in foreign T20 leagues. Because I feel they're a lot of players like that - including Yusuf Pathan, myself, Robin Uthappa... There are many quality players who can go abroad and learn a lot of things, whichever league that is in. Allow us to play in two leagues, where we go, play, and the BCCI themselves say 'you go play there'," Raina said. ## Raina restates that IPL is the only option for non-contracted players. If they failed to perform there then there is no 'Plan B' for them. He also said that many foreign players make their comebacks in their national team by performing well in overseas leagues. ## "If we play competitive cricket in three months, whether that's Big Bash League or CPL... anything that makes us feel we're ready. If you see overseas players all play, and then they make comebacks for their country. We play IPL, and there's a big pool of players so if they [franchises] feel we're not good, then there's no plan B for us. If we go abroad, perform there and stay fit and play well, then our cricket will also improve and we'll get to learn a lot," he added.## Irfan Pathan also seemed to agree with Suresh Raina as he felt that BCCI is not considering 30 years and above players to play in the national team. ## "My suggestion is that all the players who are 30-years-old and not in the radar to play international cricket, BCCI should allow them to play in foreign leagues," Pathan said. ## Suresh Raina, who is the first and one of the only three Indian players to have scored a century in all three formats, has played 226 ODIs, 18 Tests, and 76 T20Is for team India. Apart from international cricket, Raina has been a regular player in IPL for CSK since the tournament introduced in 2008. He is knows as Mr. IPL for his spectacular records in the Indian Premier League. Stay tuned...

Vijay Deverakonda: We have always been a country that comes together during a crisis

Vijay Deverakonda has been one of the rising stars in the Telugu film industry. Ever since his Arjun Reddy has released which was a massive hit, he has become a poster boy in Tollywood. He gains a lot of fan following after Arjun Reddy and is one of the most loved stars in Telugu. ## As he turns 31 today (9 May), the actor talks about the success of Arjun Reddy and its Hindi remake Kabir Singh, increasing fan following, the nationwide lockdown, and his personal life in an exclusive interview to INDIA TODAY. ## Here are some excerpts from the interview - ## You have done multiple love stories and you said you are done with it. Why change a winning game? ## It's just something I feel within. It's not necessarily a conscious decision. I have phases with clothes where I really feel like wearing colorful clothes. Likewise, I felt that I am done with love stories. I was excited about other things. It's not a smart decision or a calculated one. ## Why did you turn down the Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy?## It's true that the director and I were initially approached by the production house for the Hindi remake of the film. However, I turned down the offer as I don't want to do it all over again. That was a decision we took together.## Did Kabir Singh satisfy you enough? Was the role justified?## If Shahid Kapoor hadn't justified the character played by me in Arjun Reddy, I am sure Kabir Singh wouldn't have been successful. However, I haven't watched the film yet. I have been working madly for the past few years, and I hardly have time to catch up with films. Even if I get that little time, I would watch new films rather than watching something which I know in and out.## What are your thoughts on the criticism that Arjun Reddy invited?## To be frank, I had already forgotten the film and the nuances of the character. However, I truly understand people who think that Arjun Reddy's character has a problem. But still, I did it and I like the film.## What about your personal life? Are your parents trying to get you married?## My parents aren't bugging me and they let me be. But, recently they have been subtly hinting at marriage. I would love family life. It would be fulfilling to be married and have your own kids. There will be a time I will do that. But, I need more mental maturity to do that. I need to grow up and sober down.## I still feel like a kid. You don't have to be answerable to anyone, you want to do what you want. I think it's a responsibility when you're married to someone. You need to respect the relationship and nurture it. You can't take things for granted. So, I am just buying time.## You've personally helped people during the lockdown. Can you tell us about your contribution?## I think we have always been a country that comes together during a crisis. The joint family system has helped our community come together. I see a lot of countries that are unhappy with the proceedings during a lockdown. Here, I see people following the rules of a lockdown and figuring out ways to help others, it's because we all want to help everyone.## The first time I received help was when I was a six-year-old boy. I got admission to Sri Satya Sai Primary Education school, which gives free education to people. That was the time when my family couldn't afford to pay for my education. The person I am today is because of this education. Throughout my life, I've received all sorts of love from strangers, friends, and family who have made me who I am. Today, I am giving back what I have.## Why do follow zero people on Twitter? What does it take for Vijay to follow people?## I don't use these apps and I usually operate them through Whatsapp. I have a team that takes care of my social media pages. They send all the important stuff to me. First of all, I am not good at technology. You have limited time and you need to pick how you want to spend the time on. Technology and social media were not among the choices for me. It takes a lot of time to use them.## Are you a person who have friends in the industry?## I have these friends from my childhood days - the boys who grew up with me in the hostel. Any free time that I have, I spend with them. I don't have friends in the industry. They have been welcoming and warm, but I don't spend much time with them. I don't want to know people from the industry. I just want to watch their films and like them as actors. But, Rana Daggubati has been quite friendly and I have chilled with him.## Can you tell us about Fighter?## Fighter will come out sometime next year. We are done shooting 50 percent. It stars me and this really sweet girl called Ananya Panday. The film is directed by Puri Jagannadh and produced by himself, Charmme Kaur and Karan Johar. It's like this wacky, fun film that the nation will enjoy and love.## If you have to pick between Arjun Reddy and Dear Comrade, what excites you?## Oh, it's Arjun Reddy. It was extremely exciting. But, Dear Comrade was something that I am emotionally connected to. I just understood Arjun and as an actor, it's my job to understand the characters I play and connect with it. This guy seemed very real and I hadn't heard anything like that for a long time. The way we made the film was so personal, intimate, and passionate that the audience felt him, Preethi, and emotions. It is also the connection between me, the director, and the actress.## Fitness seems to be a fitness freak. What are you doing to keep yourself fit?## Working out is something that I hate, but I love the feeling of having done with a workout. You just have to get the basics right. I drag myself to do that one hour of work and feel happy for the rest of the day.## Any other stars who inspire you?## It's Ranbir Kapoor and I am really fond of him.## If not for acting, what would you have done?## I would have loved to be an architect. I am fascinated by architecture whenever I travel. I spend a lot of time watching videos on world architecture. Japan is one country I would like to visit for the architecture.## Stay tuned...

'Love playing against Australia' Rohit Sharma is hoping India's tour of Australia goes ahead as per plans

Star batsman and the vice-captain of limited-overs cricket, Rohit Sharma is hoping that India's tour of Australia later this year goes ahead as par plans. In a live chat session on Instagram with David Warner, Rohit Sharma expressed his desire to play against Australia in Australia. But the coronavirus pandemic has come as a big halt to cricket but Rohit is hoping that situation to get better later the year. ## Already stopped many cricket activities including IPL (as of now), the pandemic has also created a big doubt to the T20I world cup that is scheduled to take place in Australia in October-November, but there have been discussions underway between BCCI and Cricket Australia about finding options to make the tour a possibility. ## "Actually we were quite looking forward to this year's tour as well. I hope somehow both the boards - the Australian and the Indian board they somehow try and manage to do something and get this series underway. It'll be great for the teams as well, but also great for people to start cricket with. It'll be a great series for people to watch. It'll be a great way to kick off cricket in the world if that happens," Rohit said.## In conversation with David Warner, Rohit Sharma said how much he and team India love playing against Australia and what it meant to them when they beat Australia in Australia for the first time when India toured Australia last year. ## "I personally love playing against Australia. Whenever there's an opportunity to play against Australia, it's a different feeling. And last year when we won the series, which has never happened before in the history of Indian cricket, it was good for us as a team. I know you guys (Warner and Smith) were missing but still, what the bowlers did there, what the batters did there was a great boost," he said. ## Talking about IPL that has been postponed indefinitely, Rohit Sharma said that if the situation gets better, then IPL could be played at some stage but said that he is focussing on that Australia tour and hoping it really happens. ## "IPL is likely to happen at some stage as well, but I have no idea about what date or what month it would be. Once everything settles down a little bit there'll be a better idea for us to judge whether the IPL is likely to happen or not but I am really looking forward to that Australian tour. I hope it really happens... in January or February or whenever it is. I really hope that happens. We love coming to Australia, we love playing against you guys," he said. ## FYI, India is scheduled to play 4 Tests, and 3 ODIs series down under in December and January. However, recent strict travel restrictions due to coronavirus pandemic have created uncertainty over the Australia tour. ## Stay tuned...
