Recently, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior director Om Raut announced that he will be teaming up with pan India star, Prabhas for his dream project, "Adipurush", based on Ramayana. Later, Saif Ali Khan was roped in the movie to play the role of Lankesh, based on Ravan.
Now according to the latest report, Om Raut approached Anushka Sharma to play Sita in the big-budget film. If the reports are to be believed, Anushka Sharma is the top contender for the role. She was blown away by Om Raut's vision when the director narrated the whole idea to her.
However, a source quoted in a leading portal has said that Anushka's participation is not final yet. Even though she is Om Raut's first choice to play Sita, the actress is yet to sign on the dotted line.
"Anushka Sharma is the top contender for the role. Om met and narrated the whole idea to Anushka and she was blown away by his vision. In fact, their meeting had a very positive outcome and it will most likely be her playing Sita on the big screen", the source said.
Anushka Sharma and husband Virat Kohli recently announced that they were expecting their first child. The source said that if the nod from Anushka comes, the team will schedule the film's production accordingly..
"Anushka will mostly be ready to start shooting within two months post her delivery. Om wants to begin shooting around January and since Adipurush is based on Ramayana, they will first film the portions which won't need Anushka in them. They will kickstart the schedule with the Prabhas-Saif conflict", the source added.
Anushka Sharma was last seen in 2018's "Zero" opposite Shah Rukh Khan. However, she made a special appearance in the song "Kudi Nu Nachne De" from Angrezi Medium this year. With the Amazon Prime Video series "Paatal Lok", Anushka made her production debut as executive producer of the series. Later in the year, she produced a Netflix film "Bulbbul" that received a lot of applications.
