WWE Intercontinental Championship Match Confirmed At SummerSlam On 7/24 WWE Raw

Gunther and Drew McIntyre are gearing up for an epic clash at WWE SummerSlam. The rivalry between these two stars started back at WWE Money in the Bank 2023 when McIntyre confronted Gunther after the champion's victory against Matt Riddle. Since then, they've been on a collision course, and McIntyre has even teamed up with Riddle to take on Imperium, which consists of Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, and Giovanni Vinci.

On the July 17 episode of WWE Raw, Gunther called out McIntyre, setting the stage for an intense showdown the following week. When they finally came face-to-face on the July 24 episode, McIntyre wasted no time and challenged Gunther to a match right then and there. However, Gunther declined the offer and instead insulted McIntyre by bringing up his past shortcomings. He confidently vowed to humiliate McIntyre at WWE SummerSlam, to which McIntyre responded by reminding Gunther of his nickname, the "Scottish Psychopath," and promising to show him exactly why he earned that title.

During a singles match, McIntyre emerged victorious against Kaiser, but the celebration was short-lived as Gunther and Vinci attacked him after the bell. Riddle tried to help, but Gunther powerbombed him. However, McIntyre managed to turn the tables and powerbombed Gunther through the broadcast table.

It's worth noting that Gunther had previously defeated McIntyre and Sheamus in a thrilling Triple Threat Match at WWE WrestleMania 39.
