Chennai, August 26 — In an exclusive production breakdown, blockbuster director Ashwath Marimuthu (Dragon, Oh My Kadavule) has shared crucial updates on his upcoming films: Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Dharman' (Thalaivar 173) and Silambarasan TR's 'STR 51'. Ashwath revealed that Dharman (produced by Kamal Haasan's RKFI with music by Anirudh) blends the vintage swag of Padayappa with gripping modern action, while STR 51 (AGS Entertainment) will roll immediately after Dharman wraps.
Speaking at a recent award event, Ashwath revealed that the shoot of Dharman is expected to be completed in October 2026. The filmmaker is currently directing Rajinikanth in the project and opened up about his experience working with the superstar, describing the film as a responsibility rather than simply an opportunity. He also praised Rajinikanth's humility and professionalism, saying the veteran actor quickly made him comfortable on the sets.
Ashwath further confirmed that his next collaboration with Silambarasan TR, tentatively titled STR 51, is scheduled to commence shooting in February 2027. The director explained that while he completes Dharman, STR will be finishing his ongoing project Arasan, after which the two teams will move ahead with their long-awaited collaboration.
