Chennai, August 27 - Lokesh Kanagaraj has added another 100 crore milestone to his impressive box-office record, this time as an actor. His acting debut DC, directed by Arun Matheswaran and co-starring Wamiqa Gabbi, has crossed the ₹100 crore mark worldwide on the 20th day of its theatrical release. The film arrived in cinemas on August 7 and has been maintaining a steady run on the back of positive audience and critical response.
The milestone is particularly notable because DC marks Lokesh Kanagaraj's first outing as a lead actor after establishing himself as one of Tamil cinema's most successful filmmakers. The film crossed 100 crore globally within 3 weeks, with its performance driven by strong word of mouth. In India, it has grossed around 77.50 crores as total worldwide cume after 20 stands at around 100.85 crores.
DC is an action-crime thriller that follows Devadas, played by Lokesh, as he attempts to protect an innocent family affected by police brutality while confronting a ruthless police officer. Arun Matheswaran's treatment, Lokesh and Wamiqa's performances and Anirudh Ravichander's music have emerged among the major talking points surrounding the film. Several prominent names from the South Indian film industry have also praised the movie following its release.
For Lokesh, the achievement makes his transition from behind the camera to the lead role particularly successful.
