Drew McIntyre is back in the United States, but WWE has reportedly not started discussing his return to television storylines.

According to PWInsider, McIntyre has continued working on other projects connected to WWE during his absence, including a lead acting role. His return to the country does not mean that an appearance on Raw or SmackDown has been scheduled.

McIntyre has been away from WWE television since WrestleMania 42, where he lost an Unsanctioned Match against Jacob Fatu. Fatu won after delivering a moonsault through a table. The former WWE Champion later travelled to Spain to film The Last Druid. The historical action movie stars Russell Crowe and follows a Celtic elder who must defend his family and people from an invading emperor.

Filming began in May and was nearing completion in early August. McIntyre returning to the United States naturally creates the possibility of a WWE comeback, but no storyline has been prepared for him at this time. McIntyre has also been cast as Angus MacLeod, the brother of Henry Cavill’s character, in the upcoming Highlander reboot. He previously made his movie debut alongside Batista in The Killer’s Game.

WWE has not announced when McIntyre will return. PWInsider’s report suggests that he is available in the United States again, but fans may still have to wait before seeing him back on television.
