Hyderabad, August 22 - After a string of box-office duds, mass maharaja Ravi Teja has made a strong comeback with Irumudi, which has opened to an excellent response across the Telugu states and overseas. The Shiva Nirvana directorial has registered huge footfalls from the very first shows, with the film emerging as the actor's biggest opener in his career by a long margin. The strong start comes after a prolonged phase of underperforming films for the Mass Maharaja.

According to estimates, Irumudi has collected around 17.25 crore gross in India on Day 1, while its worldwide gross has reached approximately 23.25 crore. In Telugu states, Irumudi has grossed in the 15 crore range, while Karnataka was the second biggest domestic territory with around 1.50 crore gross. Overseas, the film grossed an estimated 6 crore, which is also a record start for Ravi Teja.

Irumudi's momentum strengthened as the day progressed due to positive word-of-mouth. The second half of the day witnessed massive growth compared to the morning and afternoon shows, while additional screenings were added at several centres. The film also created a new BookMyShow benchmark by recording more than 32,000 tickets in a single hour, surpassing the previous regional-film record held by Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu.

What makes the opening more significant is the positive audience response to Ravi Teja's performance and the emotional core of the father-daughter story. With the weekend ahead, Irumudi is now in a strong position to build on its opening-day momentum. If the film maintains its hold on Saturday and Sunday, Ravi Teja could be looking at a much-needed career resurgence, while Irumudi could emerge as one of the season's notable Telugu successes.
