Mumbai, August 21 - After the recently released Batwara 1947, Sunny Deol and filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi are reportedly set to reunite for another collaboration. The actor-director duo, who share a long-standing association and have delivered some of Hindi cinema's most memorable films, are exploring the possibility of returning to one of their biggest collaborations — Ghatak.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Santoshi has narrated an idea to Deol and discussions are underway for a potential sequel to the 1996 action drama. The project is still in the development stage, with Santoshi expected to work further on the screenplay before the makers take a final call. If things progress as planned, an official announcement could arrive in the coming months, while the film is being eyed for a potential production start around mid-2027, depending on Deol's availability.
A Ghatak sequel would mark the fifth collaboration between Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi. The two first joined forces for Ghayal in 1990, followed by Damini in 1993 and Ghatak in 1996. Their reunion for Batwara 1947 marked another chapter in their association, and a return to the Ghatak universe would naturally generate considerable interest among fans of the original.
However, it is important to note that the project has not yet been officially announced as Ghatak 2. The sequel is currently being explored, and the final title, storyline and other details are expected to be locked only after the script reaches the required stage. If the collaboration materialises, it could reunite Sunny Deol and Santoshi for another action-driven entertainer built around the actor’s trademark intensity.
