Every time a big South Indian film opens strong, it gets measured against the same handful of benchmarks. Over the last few years, four films have set the bar for Day 1 advance booking gross out of South India: KGF Chapter 2, Leo, Pushpa 2: The Rule, and L2: Empuraan. Yash's Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, releasing worldwide on August 26, is now being tracked against all four. With one day still left before release, here's exactly where it currently ranks.
The Ranking: Toxic vs the Big Four
Based on Day 1 advance booking gross, here's how the five films line up. Toxic's number is still climbing since bookings are open for one more day, so its final rank could shift before release.

As things stand, Toxic is sitting at Number 4 on this list — ahead of Empuraan, but behind Leo, KGF Chapter 2 and Pushpa 2. While Toxic still has a full day left to add to its number. Even a modest final-day surge could be enough to push it past Leo's ₹46.36 crore mark.

How Close Is Toxic to Moving Up?
The gap to Number 3 is the one worth watching. Toxic needs about ₹14 crore more to overtake Leo's ₹46.36 crore and climb into third place — not out of reach given it's still gaining roughly ₹5-8 crore a day at this stage of its advance run. Catching KGF Chapter 2 or Pushpa 2 at Number 1 or 2, on the other hand, would need a genuinely historic final-day surge; both of those numbers were built over a longer, fully-closed booking window and are close to three times what Toxic has managed so far.
Where This Leaves Toxic
Right now, Toxic sits at Number 4 out of five on advance gross, and Number 3 on ticket volume, among the biggest South Indian openers of recent years. It's clearly ahead of Empuraan and within realistic striking distance of overtaking Leo before release day. Catching Pushpa 2 or KGF Chapter 2 at the top would take an unusually big final push, but even holding its current Number 4 spot would still make Toxic one of the strongest advance-booking openers Yash — or Sandalwood as an industry — has produced.
