Mumbai, August 27 - Superstar Yash's Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has taken a thunderous start at the Indian box office, scoring over 100 crore net on its opening day, emerging as one of the biggest opening days at the Indian box office. In Hindi, the Geetu Mohandas directorial has delivered one of the biggest openings ever with 55 crore net, putting Yash's latest release in an elite box-office club alongside some of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema.
With 55 crore net, Toxic has registered the second-biggest opening ever for a dubbed Hindi version, behind only Pushpa 2. More importantly, it is now the biggest opening day for a non-franchise film released in dubbed Hindi, surpassing the previous benchmarks in the category by a 2x margin. The achievement highlights Yash's extraordinary popularity in the Hindi market, despite Toxic being an originally Kannada-language film.
The distinction becomes even more significant when looking specifically at dubbed releases. Pushpa 2 remains the biggest dubbed Hindi opening, while Toxic has now moved into second place. At the same time, among original South Indian films, Yash's film has set a new benchmark for the Hindi dubbed market. The opening is another major milestone for Yash, whose KGF Chapter 2 had already established him as a formidable force in the Hindi belt. Toxic has now taken that popularity a step further, demonstrating that the actor can command a massive Hindi-market opening even without the direct sequel factor that powered some of the biggest pan-India releases.
