Toxic Box Office: Yash's Gangster Action Drama Set For 100+ Crore Worldwide Opening

Mumbai, August 25 - Superstar Yash's much-awaited gangster action drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is heading for a massive worldwide opening. The Geetu Mohandas directorial, which marks Yash's return to the big screen after KGF: Chapter 2, is releasing globally on August 26, 2026, and the pre-release momentum suggests that the film could emerge as one of the biggest openers of the year.

The advance booking trend has strengthened considerably in the final hours before release. Toxic has sold over 1 million tickets for the opening day, while its India advance gross has crossed the 35 crore mark (without block seats), with Karnataka and the Hindi market driving a significant portion of the demand. Including block seats, the film has sold tickets worth 46+ crores for the opening day, with final pre-sales expected to be around 60 crores.

The film is also witnessing strong interest in overseas markets, giving it the potential to post a 100 crore-plus global opening. In India, the movie is expected to score an 80-100 crore gross opening day, including 40+ crore gross in Hindi alone. Trade expectations are now pointing towards a 100–120 crore worldwide opening, provided the film sees strong walk-in demand on Wednesday. If it opens on the projected lines, it will be the second Kannada movie, after KGF: Chapter 2, to take a 100+ crore opening worldwide.

The combination of Yash's pan-India popularity, the KGF factor, a multi-language release and the absence of major direct competition gives Toxic a clear opportunity to put up a major opening-day number. The Hindi version is particularly important to the film's overall box office prospects. While the initial expectation was for a 20 crore-plus opening in the Hindi market, the strong response to the trailer and growing advance sales have created room for the film to outperform those early projections.

Toxic also arrives with an A certificate and a runtime of over three hours, positioning it as an unabashedly adult gangster spectacle rather than a conventional mass entertainer. If audience reception turns out to be favourable, the film could maintain strong momentum beyond its opening day and potentially establish Yash as one of the few Indian stars capable of delivering 100 crore-plus global openings consistently. The film is releasing in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and English, allowing it to maximise its reach across India.
