Suriya's family drama Vishwanath and Sons (VAS) has shown a rare and impressive trend at the box office as it moves through its second week. Unlike most films that see a gradual decline on weekdays, this project has witnessed a significant surge in interest. The film's focus on emotional storytelling and relatable family dynamics has clearly resonated with the audience, leading to an increase in footfalls on its twelfth day. This positive word-of-mouth has now pushed the film past the 100 crore net mark in the domestic market, a feat that turns out to be a major success for the star.
On its second Tuesday, marking Day 12 of its theatrical run, Vishwanath and Sons grossed 3.25 crore in India. This performance reflects a 36.6 percent jump compared to the Monday gross. This growth is directly supported by the activity on BookMyShow, where the film sold 68.36k tickets on Tuesday, up significantly from the 46.49k tickets sold on Monday. With this, the total tickets sold on the platform have reached 2,626,110. The film has now become the ninth best-selling Tamil film on BookMyShow since August 2023, officially overtaking the lifetime sales of Good Bad Ugly. Additionally, its Tuesday performance secured the fifth spot on the list of highest second Tuesday ticket sales for Tamil films, trailing only behind major blockbusters like Jailer, Karuppu, Amaran, and The GOAT.
The total worldwide gross for the film now stands at ₹182.05 crore. This includes a domestic gross of ₹122.05 crore and an overseas gross of ₹60.00 crore. In terms of net collections, the India total has reached ₹105.50 crore. The language-wise breakdown for Tuesday shows that the Tamil version contributed ₹1.55 crore net, while the Telugu version added ₹1.25 crore. Notably, night show occupancies were strong, peaking at 40.85% for the Tamil version and 30.73% for Telugu, suggesting that families are opting for late-evening shows.
