From URI To Dhurandhar 2, Analysing The Box Office Filmography of Filmmaker Aditya Dhar: The Man Who Doesn't Miss

Mumbai, March 25 - In an industry where consistency is rare and even top filmmakers face fluctuations, Aditya Dhar has quietly built one of the most flawless box office track records in modern Hindi cinema. Dhar, who started his career as an assistant director on the film Boond (2019), has established himself as a filmmaker with a 100% success rate across just a handful of films, whether as a director or producer. Aditya Dhar's filmography has a common link: his films are action thrillers with a political touch. But his mastery of engaging storytelling makes him different from others. In the military action-thriller genre, Aditya Dhar has proven himself second to none among his contemporaries. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The Beginning: Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019) Dhar made his directorial debut with Uri: The Surgical Strike, a war drama that stunned the trade with its phenomenal run. Made on a controlled budget, the film went on to become one of the highest-grossing films of 2019 with nearly 350 crore worldwide gross, earning both critical acclaim and massive commercial success. The film focuses on multiple chapters (one of the specialities of Dhar's filmmaking), but its core plot is based on the real story of the retaliation to the 2016 Uri attack. It tells the story of Major Vihaan Shergill (Kaushal) of the Para (Special Forces), who played a leading role in the events shown in the film. Uri established Dhar's signature-nationalistic storytelling, technical finesse, and gripping narratives, a formula that would later define his filmography. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The Producer's Touch: Article 370 (2024) Dhar's second theatrical film as a filmmaker was Article 370, which he wrote with Monal Thaakar, and produced by Jio Studios. Headlined by Yami Gautam, the film is based on the 2019 revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir regarding Article 370 of the Constitution of India. Made on a low budget, the film became a box office success with over 100 crores in gross collection worldwide. As a producer, Dhar also made Dhoom Dhaam and Baramulla in 2025 for Netflix, and both films emerged as successes on the streamer. Scaling Up: Dhurandhar (2025) Aditya Dhar's second directorial venture was Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh. It was the film which literally put him in the league of the greatest Indian filmmakers. The spy action thriller centres on a high-stakes covert counter-terrorism operation. It follows an undercover Indian intelligence agent who infiltrates Karachi's criminal syndicates and political power structures in Pakistan in an effort to dismantle a terror network targeting India. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Dhurandhar is considered one of the finest films in its genre, which not only won critical acclaim but also became a box office juggernaut with over 1300 crores worldwide as the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film and the highest-grossing Indian spy thriller of all time. The film established Dhar as a filmmaker capable of delivering pan-India spectacle cinema with global appeal, going far beyond the success of his debut. The Monster Sequel: Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge (2026) Dhar had originally planned Dhurandhar as a one-part film, but due to its massive scale, the makers split it into two parts. The decision to release the film in two parts was not just strategic but also proved game-changing in Indian cinema history. Released a few days back, The Revenge is ruling the box office unlike anything before. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Aditya Dhar's Theatrical Filmography Film Year Role Worldwide Gross URI: The Surgical Strike 2019 Director ₹ 341.75 Cr Article 370 2024 Producer ₹ 105.15 Cr Dhurandhar 2025 Director/Producer ₹ 1307 Cr Dhurandhar 2 2026 Director/Producer ₹ 940 Cr (6 Days) If Dhurandhar was massive, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is rewriting the rulebook altogether. Part 2 has emerged as a box office phenomenon, delivering record-breaking numbers across domestic and international markets. In just 6 days, it has crossed 900 crore at the worldwide box office and will be topping 1000 crore at the end of today or tomorrow. What is next for Aditya Dhar? A couple of years back, Dhar had announced the Mahabharata epic, The Immortal Ashwatthama, with Vicky Kaushal in the lead. However, due to massive budget requirements, the makers had to shelve the product indefinitely. There are reports that the filmmaker might revive this film after the success of the Dhurandhar duology, but there are no concrete updates on the same. Likewise, there are reports that he might reunite with Ranveer Singh for a mythology epic, but again, there is no confirmation on it yet. While it is not confirmed what will be Dhar's next project, trade is sure that whatever he touches will turn into gold.

Mumbai, February 24 - After a good first day, Yami Gautam-starrer Article 370 shows a very good spike of around 30% on its second day. The jump today is a huge positive sign for the film as the opening day collection came due to discounted prices but today the film has normal rates. ## According to early estimates, the political thriller scored an estimated 7.50 (+/-) crores net collection, taking the total cume to approximately 13.40 crores net in two days. The movie has set itself up for a big Sunday as the first weekend looks to be around 22-25 crores net. ## The opening of the film was encouraging with discounted ticket prices but there were doubts about whether it could hold the collection with normal rates. Though a drop was expected with normal rates as initial word of mouth for the movie is mixed, it would have been nice had it finished close to the opening day figures which is not the case. ## The total collection after two days is around 7 crores net. Yami Gautam's 'Article 370' Set For A Good Opening At The Box Office

Mumbai, February 22 - Yami Gautam and Priyamani-starrer political thriller Article 370 is headed for a good start at the box office. Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale is scheduled to hit screens on February 23. ## The film is seeing an excellent response in advance sales which comes as a big surprise to many, however, the pre-sales are being propelled by the cinema lovers' day across multiplexes with a discounted price of rs. 99. ## In 3 national chains (PVR, INOX, Cinepolis), Article 370 has sold over 80K tickets so far. It is about to finish around 100K for the opening day, which is higher than some big ticket entertainers like Lal Singh Chaddha, Vikram Vedha, and Drishyam 2, among others. ## With the kind of pre-sales the movie is having, an opening of well over 10 crores mark would have been assured but it comes at half of normal ticket prices. Still, Article 370 should score 5+ crores net, and it could go higher, depending on the audience reception. ## Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the movie is based on true events around the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir by the government of India in 2019. It stars Yami Gautam and Priyamani in the leading roles alongside Kiran Karmarkar, and Arun Govil among others. ## Meanwhile, Vidyut Jammwal's sports actioner Crakk is also heading for a decent start after seeing reasonable response in pre-sales, propelled by the offer. The movie has sold around 45K tickets PIC and is likely to finish around 50K for the opening day. Crakk should be able to open around 3 crores net and it may vary depending on word of mouth. ## Stay tuned...
