Box Office: 'Captain Miller' and 'Ayalaan' Opening Day Early Estimates

Chennai, January 12 - Tamil star Dhanush's long-awaited period action drama Captain Miller has been released in theatres today to take the advantage of Pongal holidays. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the movie did well on its opening day despite competition. ## According to early estimates, Captain Miller scored around 8 crores net in the original Tamil version. The dubbed Hindi version minted an estimated 50 lakh while the Kannada version scored just 5 lakh for all India 8.50+ crores net (10 crores gross) opening. The initial word of mouth seems to be positive which should come into play over the festive weekend. ## Another Tamil release of the day, Sivakarthikeyan's sci-fi Ayalaan scored an estimated 4 crores net (4.75 crores gross) collection on its opening day. The movie did show progress throughout the day as occupancy kept increasing due to positive word of mouth. ## Ayalaan is showing a much better trend in the advances for the second day which shows the movie has acceptance among the audiences despite multiple choices available to explore. Chennai, July 29 - Tamil star Dhanush's period action drama "Captain Miller" is one of the most anticipated Pan India movies in the making. The makers recently released the teaser of the film and it received a huge response from audiences who are already seeing the movie as one of the biggest hits of the year.## Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the "Captain Miller" teaser was launched at midnight on July 28 on the occasion of Dhanush's birthday. The movie is directed by Arun Matheswaran and produced by Sathya Jyothi Films. ## "Captain Miller" will see Dhanush in a never-before-seen avatar. Dhanush Collaborates With Director Arun Matheswaran For A Pan India Movie, Captain Miller

Chennai, July 2 - Actor Dhanush has collaborated with director Arun Matheswaran ("Saani Kaayidham", "Rocky") for a Pan India movie, Captain Miller. The period action-adventure movie will be produced by Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan under the banner of Sathya Jyothi Films. ## "Captain Miller" will be set in the Madras Presidency of the 1930s and 40s. Director Arun Matheswaran told the Times of India that he had written this film way back in 2018 and had also narrated it to Dhanush, however, it couldn't take place at that time. Later in 2019, the project began to take shape again, says Arun. ## Arun's "Rocky" and "Saani Kaayidham" were intense and dark which catered the adult audiences. The director has confirmed that the upcoming movie will be different, intended for a mainstream audience. "This one will be a UA film as there is going to be a lot of action. In fact, the second half will have war sequences", Arun added. ## Dhanush will be sporting three different looks in the movie and the character will also have two more names, confirmed by the director himself. "The story unfolds over 15 years of this character's life, so I knew that he'd capture the different timelines of a person's life very well. There's action and a range of emotions, and I felt that he'd pull it off the best", Matheswaran said about roping Dhanush in the movie. ## The makers have roped in celebrated artists for the movie. Shreyas Krishna ("Rocky", "Jagame Thandhiram") will be handling the cinematography while Nagooran is the editor. "Sarpatta Parambarai" fame Tha Ramalingam has been roped in as the art director while Poornima Ramaswamy, who won the National Award for her work in "Paradesi", is the costume designer of the film. GV Prakash Kumar will be composing the music. ## The movie will be shot in real locations across the country as the shooting will commence soon.
