Los Angeles, May 6 - Marvel Studios' summer tentpole Thunderbolts* is off to a solid start at the domestic and worldwide box office with $74.3 million and $160.4 million opening weekend, respectively. This is among the best starts for a new Marvel superhero movie, the studio is wasting no time in taking further steps to strengthen its legs. ## In an interesting move, the studio has changed the title of the film from Thunderbolts to The New Avengers. The announcement of the new title was made through a video, posted by the studio on social media, and the same was promoted through a giant billboard in Los Angeles. ## In North America, ticketing websites like Fandango have also changed the title of the film on their platforms. It has been a mystery to Marvel and movie fans why Marvel had used an asterisk (*) in Thunderbolts, and the answer was finally revealed after the studio revealed the original title as The New Avengers (those who have already watched the movie would know the reason).## Thunderbolts* aka The New Avengers opened to flying reviews from critics and a solid A Cinemascore from audiences. Mumbai, May 6 - After a gap of nearly 3 years, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is returning to the big screen with the comedy drama Sitaare Zameen Par, which is the sequel to his 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. The makers announced yesterday that SZP would hit the big screen on June 20. ## With a little over a month to go before the release, the makers are gearing up to launch the next assets of the film to further increase the hype. According to the latest reports, Aamir Khan will launch the trailer of Sitaare Zameen Par on May 8, Thursday. ## The official announcement of the trailer is expected to be made in a day or two, though the details about the film’s narrative and promotional campaign have been kept tightly under wraps.## Earlier yesterday, Aamir Khan announced the release date of the film with the official first look poster. Mumbai, May 5 - After the very good opening weekend at the domestic box office with around 71 crores net collection, Ajay Devgn-led crime drama thriller Raid 2 has passed the first real test with flying colours after the very good hold on its first Monday. ## The Rajkumar Gupta's directorial movie is showing a drop of around 60% today from the Thursday opening day, which had a partial holiday, and around a 35% drop from Friday, as early estimates suggest the first Monday collection to be in the range of 7.50-8 crores net. ## The total collection of Raid 2 is around 79 crores net in 5 days, as the first 8-day week could hit the 100 crores mark, which is fantastic. Mumbai, May 5 - Ajay Devgn-fronted crime drama thriller Raid 2 has a very good opening weekend at the worldwide box office with close to 100 crores gross collection. The movie performed better than expected to score the second biggest opening weekend of the year for Bollywood. ## Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, Raid 2 took a very good opening domestically to score approximately 23 crores gross (19.25 crores net) upon its Thursday release before showing strong hold over the weekend. It grossed approximately 85 crores (71.50 crores net) in India in the 4-day weekend, which is the second biggest weekend of the year after Chhaava.## At the overseas box office, Raid 2 performed low to score 13.50 crores gross, for the worldwide opening weekend of around 98.50 crores. It will be entering the 100 crores club worldwide today, and will become the 6th Bollywood film of the year to do so. ## Meanwhile, Raid 2 is on course to become the 4th Bollywood title of 2025 to score 100 crores net collection after Sikandar, Sky Force, and Chhaava. Los Angeles, May 5 - Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts has finished the first weekend at the worldwide box office with $162+ million, slightly under industry projection. The movie, however, is expected to have solid legs with positive word of mouth and critics' reviews by its side. ## The Jake Schreier's directorial blockbuster ignited the domestic (North America) box office with a $76 million 3-day opening weekend, higher than the industry projection. Marvel movies tend to open with much higher collections, but this is a very good start for a new superhero movie, which features lesser-known Marvel heroes. ## The domestic opening of Thunderbolts* is in line with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ($75 million) and Eternals ($71 million), which also introduced newer Marvel protagonists. As per Variety, the film will have a strong run due to WOM and reviews, which are among the highest for a Marvel tentpole. ## The overseas box office, Thunderbolts, came below the industry's projection with $86 million during the 5-day weekend in 53 markets. This is lower than Enternals ($90 million) but better than Shang-Chi ($56 million). The film struck $162 million worldwide opening weekend, which is on par with Eternals. ## China was the biggest international market for the film with $10.4 million, followed by the UK ($7.7 million) and Mexico ($7.3 million). Kochi, May 4 - Superstar Mohanlal is back to his beast box office form after a second consecutive blockbuster in less than a month. While Empuraan has completed its run with over 265 crores worldwide, as the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever, the latest blockbuster Thudarum is rewriting history for the industry.## Directed by Tharun Moorthy, Thudarum has crossed 150 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office at the time of writing this piece, in less than 10 days. This makes it the second fastest Malayalam film of all time to reach this box office milestone. ## In 9 days so far, the film has grossed approximately 73 crores domestically, including approximately 58.60 crores in the home state, Kerala. In each of the day so far (including 10th day), Thudarum has grossed 5+ crores in Kerala, making it the first film ever to so. Previously, Empuraan had 7 consecutive 5+ crore days in the state. ## Apart from Kerala, the drama thriller is the first Mollywood title to score 5+ crore gross collection domestically for 10 consecutive days, and also the first to gross 10+ crores worldwide for continuously these many days. ## At the end of 10th day, Thudaram will become the 4th highest-grossing Malayalam film globally, after 2018 (180 crores), Manjummel Boys (241 crores) and Empuraan (266 crores). The movie has shown a jump of around 40%, which is superb. ## According to the early estimates, the crime thriller is looking to score in the range of 17-18 crores net collection on its third day, pushing the total to around 49 crores. The extended opening weekend is heading for 68-70 crores, which is very good. ## Maharashtra continues to dominate the overall collection, while other regions constantly show improvement. Mumbai, May 3 - Bollywood star Shraddha Kapoor is in red-hot demand after scoring one of the biggest Indian blockbusters in Stree 2 last year. The actress has been flooded with offers by many filmmakers, and reportedly, she has signed on for a female-led film with producer Ekta Kapoor. ## The film in question is said to be a high-concept thriller, to be directed by the director of Tumbbad fame, Rahi Anil Barve. According to the report by Bollywood Hungama, Shraddha has received Rs. 17 crore remuneration for her next film with Ekta. ## Apart from the upfront fees, the actress has also got a profit-sharing clause added in her agreement and will be getting a certain percentage of share in the profits post the film's release. This is among the highest remunerations for a female actor in Indian cinema. ## It is said that Ekta Kapoor was more than happy to splurge Rs. 17 crore + profit share to sign Shraddha Kapoor, as the Rahi Anil Barve film will be the actress' follow-up to the highest-grossing film of Hindi Cinema, Stree 2. ## The yet untitled film is currently in the pre-production stage and will go on floors in the second half of the year. Mumbai, May 2 - Ajay Devgn's crime thriller Raid 2 has shown a good hold on its second day after scoring one of the biggest openings of the year with approximately 19.25 crores net collection, which exceeded trade expectations.## According to early estimates, Raid 2 has scored in the range of 11-12 crores net collection on its second day, dropping around 35%, which is a good hold considering the fact that the opening day was a partial holiday. The final number can go higher depending on how strong smaller centres are. ## The total collection of the movie after 2 days is 30.50+ crores net. It is expected to score big gains on Saturday and Sunday as the 4-day opening weekend will be eyeing 70 crores (+/-). Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Delhi continue to draw audience while other regions are expected to come on board in the next two days. ## The real test for Raid 2 will be on Monday, which will determine how far it can go at the box office. Mumbai, May 2 - Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's cop action thriller Spirit with Pan India superstar Prabhas is among the biggest Indian films in the making. Bhushan Kumar will produce it with Sandeep Vanga, and the makers are in the process of locking some of the best talents of the country for the film. ## According to the latest report by Pinkvilla, Deepika Padukone has been signed on to play a prominent role in Spirit. The actress had earlier turned down the offer as the shooting timelines did not match due to her pregnancy. However, due to a delay in the shoot, SRV approached Deepika again and this time, she agreed to come on board. ## Spirit was originally scheduled to go on floors by the end of last year, but was delayed, and it will now commence in the next few months, as confirmed by producer Bhushan Kumar. The upcoming film will mark Deepika's reunion with Prabhas after last year's Kalki 2898 AD.## The report further revealed that Spirit is in the process of undergoing a major change in the star-cast. Earlier, there were reports that Mrunal Thakur, Kareena Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan would be part of the movie, but there is no development on the same. Currently, only Deepika is locked with Prabhas. ## Meanwhile, Deepika has multiple films in the pipeline.
