Mumbai, August 16 - Sunny Deol-fronted epic war drama Border 2 is easily one of the most-awaited Indian movies. The movie, which is the sequel to 1997's epic blockbuster Border, was announced earlier this year with Sunny returning to reprise his role and Anurag Singh taking the directorial duty. ## Recently, it was reported that Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh was roped in to play a prominent role in the movie and now, according to the report by Pinkvilla, Bollywood star Varun Dhawan has signed on for Border 2 and the actor will headline the film along with Sunny Deol.## "Border 2 is the biggest film in Indian Cinema in the making, and the team is making it even bigger with the casting by getting Varun Dhawan to play a major role in the tale with Sunny Deol. Border franchise holds a special place in the heart of the audience, and the casting of Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan in the sequel is sure to elevate the appeal even further", says the report.## The report further revealed that the shoot of Border 2 will commence in November this year and Varun is expected to join the filming after the release of his action thriller Baby John in December this year. The entire cast of the sequel, as revealed recently, will be announced by this month end of early September during an event.## Varun, meanwhile, is currently shooting for his director father David Dhawan's untitled comic caper and also has Dharma Productions' romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsikumar. Mumbai, August 16 - Marvel Studios and Disney's superhero comedy Deadpool and Wolverine has officially become the highest-grossing R-rated (equivalent to A-rating in India) movie of all-time at the worldwide box office, beating Warner Bros. Pictures' Joker. ## Starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the titular roles, Deadpool & Wolverine has earned $1.08+ billion globally so far, which takes it past Joker which had grossed $1.07 billion in its lifetime run. These two are the only R-rated movies to top $1 billion worldwide.## As reported earlier, Deadpool 3 is the first Disney-released Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie since Avengers: Endgame in 2019 to top $1 billion globally, and, it is also the first R-rated movie released by Disney. Overall, it is the first MCU title since Sony's Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) to reach the milestone.## Earlier, the third Deadpool instalment scored the biggest opening of 2024 at the domestic (North America and Worldwide box office with $211 million and $444 million, respectively. Mumbai, August 15 - Amid the box office juggernaut of Stree 2, Akshay Kumar-fronted comedy drama Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham-starrer action drama Vedaa were battling it out to come second and it is the latter one which won the race by a fair margin.## According to the early estimates, the John Abraham-led scored in the range of 6.50-7 crores net on its opening day. It is a fair opening considering a 3-way clash. It was always going to be difficult for the movie to score due to Stree 2 which was easily the first choice of the moviegoers but Vedaa did decently overcome that challenge.## The occupancy of Vedaa showed improvement throughout the opening day, especially post-noon shows. The opening of the film is above the projections by a decent margin which can be seen as a good sign. The initial word of mouth seems to be mixed and it needs to be seen how it fairs in the coming days.## Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein showed a significant improvement over the actor's last movie Sarfira but the overall opening remained low to the standard of Akshay who has continuously delivered very good starts at the box office.## According to the early estimates, the comedy-drama scored in the range of 5 crores net on its first day which is in sync with projections. Mumbai, August 15 - Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted horror-comedy Stree 2 has stormed the box office and put all the projections in the backburners to score one of the biggest openings of all time and easily the biggest for a movie released on Independence Day (August 15). ## According to the early estimates, Maddock Films' production is expected to score in the range of 45-47 crores net which is among the top 10 starts in Hindi ever. It just went overdrive with houseful boards everywhere, carrying exceptional occupancies.## It is quite remarkable that a film which was expected to open in the range of 25 crores net max a few weeks back and was up against two other big Bollywood movies, exceeded those expectations to put up these numbers which is easily the biggest ever for a non-superstar title. ## The opening of Stree 2 is almost double that of the previous biggest starters, Kalki 2898 AD and Fighter which opened to 22.50 crores net each in 2024. The movie is looking to score over 50 crores net collection on the first day, including previews. ## Apart from the monstrous start domestically, the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted blockbuster is expected to emerge as the biggest overseas opener for the due. Hyderabad, August 15 - Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted epic blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD has completed 50 days at the box office on Independence Day, August 15. Nag Ashwin directs the movie that also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani, in key roles.## Kalki 2898 AD was released on June 27 and scored the third biggest opening for an Indian movie by grossing around 175 crores at the worldwide box office.
