Los Angeles, May 22 - Marvel Studios set to make a roaring comeback with Ryan Raynolds and Hugh Jackman's highly-anticipated Deadpool and Wolverine as pre-sales of the movie off to a flying start at the domestic (North America) box office. ## According to the ticketing portal Fandango, Deadpool & Wolverine has broken the record for day-one ticket sales for a 2024 movie. It also witnessed the best first-day pre-seller from the Deadpool franchise. While the official data are not revealed, The Hollywood Reporter reports that "Some 200,000 movie fans have bought their AMC tickets already which is around $8 million - $9 million.## Shawn Lavy's directorial film has outperformed all other 2024 blockbusters thus far, including the likes of Dune: Part Two, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, The Fall Guy, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Deadpool 3 will seriously be looking to breach the billion-dollar mark, as expected by the trade. ## Deadpool 3 is intended to be the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and a sequel to Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018). It stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively, alongside Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen. ## In the film, the Time Variance Authority (TVA) pulls Deadpool from his quiet life and sets him on a mission with Wolverine that will change the history of the MCU. Mumbai, May 22 - Warner Bros. Pictures' much-anticipated post-apocalyptic action adventure film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is hitting theatres on May 23 and it will be looking to bring in some joy at the box office, not just domestically but also worldwide. ## The Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth-starrer is both a reboot of the Mad Max franchise and a prequel. According to Deadline, Furiosa is tracking to earn $80 million - $85 million in its worldwide opening weekend, starting on Wednesday (May 22). ## As reported previously is projected to earn $40+ million in its 4-day domestic (North America) opening weekend while overseas, it is tracking $40 million - $45 million. The movie is carrying a budget of $160 million and is certified fresh at Rotten Tomatoes with an 85% critics' score. ## Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), starring Charlize Theron, opened at $45.4 million domestically so the projection of Furiosa is very much on the lines of the original movie. ## In India, Furiosa is expected to have a much better outcome than the original movie which grossed approximately 15 crores in its lifetime run. Kochi, May 21 - Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran has his second blockbuster within two months as his latest comedy-drama Guruvayoorambala Nadayil, co-starring Basil Joseph, has topped 50 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office within a week. ## Directed by Vipin Das, Guruvayoorambala Nadayil crossed 50 crores worldwide gross on its 6th day, becoming the 7th Malayalam movie of 2024 to achieve the feat. The domestic and overseas collection of the movie after 5 days stands at 25.45 crores and 24 crores, respectively for approximately 49.50 crores worldwide total. ## Guruvayoorambala Nadayil scored 4.25 crore gross in India on the opening day upon its release on Thursday and showed a very good jump over the weekend to put up 21.75 crore India gross 4-day opening weekend. It showed a sensational hold on Monday, adding another 3.70 crores gross for approx. 25.50 crores domestic haul so far. ## The performance of the movie so far indicates it could be the next 100 crore Malayalam grosser, however, coming this weekend, it will have to face a stiff challenge from megastar Mammootty's action comedy Turbo which is already having excellent pre-sales. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, May 21 - Maddock Films has unveiled the teaser of their next film in the horror-comedy universe titled Munjya. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the movie stars Sharvari Wagh, Abhay Verma, Mona Singh, and S. Sathyaraj in key roles. ## The teaser of Munjya is interesting as it features a peculiar creature, an all-new CGI actor who appears to have a special fondness for Malaika Arora's 2011 hit track Munni Badnam Hui in Dabangg. The movie promises another unique experience in the horror-comedy universe which has set the bar high with each film. ## The one-minute-23-second-long teaser begins in a dense forest and offers a glimpse into the world of Munjya, leaving audiences curious about the titular creature's relentless search for a mysterious Munni as he climbs one tree to another. He then enters a house where someone is watching Malaika Arora's Munni Badnam Hui music video on television. ## The makers called the film, the perfect blend of comedy and horror to beat the summer heat for Gen Z, kids, and the whole family. It is the 4th film in the horror comedy universe, after Stree, Roohi, and Bhediya. Kochi, May 21 - On the occasion of superstar Mohanlal's birthday today, the makers have unveiled the new poster from the big-budget political action thriller film L2: Empuraa, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran who also plays a key role in the movie. ## Empuraan is the sequel to the blockbuster Lucifer (2019) and is currently the biggest Malayalam movie in the production. The new poster shows Mohanlal looking stylish in an all-black ensemble and a pair of black sunglasses. Mumbai, May 20 - Bollywood young action star Tiger Shroff is set to headline filmmaker Karan Johar's big-budget entertainer. The duo has been in talks for a long for a possible collaboration and things are finally falling into place. ## According to the report by Pinkvilla, Tiger and Karan have zeroed in on something very exciting after discussing several scripts over the last couple of years. Karan's Dharma Production will bankroll the film for which the official announcement will be made within a month. ## "It's of course an entertainer to be made on a lavish scale, but, the character is unlike anything Tiger has done over the last 10 years", says the report. The director's name has been kept under wraps for now. ## The film in question will be Tiger's first since the Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, co-starring Akshay Kumar, which was released in April this year. The actor has had a tough time with back-to-back big box office failures and is in desperate need of a success. ## Apart from Karan Johar's film, Tiger Shroff also has Sajid Nadiadwala's Baaghi 4 which is expected to start rolling early next year. Kochi, May 20 - Prithviraj Sukumaran and Basil Joseph's comedy-drama Guruvayoorambala Nadayil is heading for a big success after the excellent opening weekend at the worldwide box office, crossing 40 crores gross mark. ## Directed by Vipin Das, Guruvayoorambala Nadayil witnessed a fantastic turnout at the domestic box office, scoring approximately 21.85 crores gross over a 4-day weekend. In Kerala, the movie minted 17.80 crores, which is one of the biggest opening weekends in the state. ## Karnataka is the second-best performing state for Guruvayoorambala Nadayil with an estimated 1.90 crores gross, followed by Tamil Nadu with around 90 lakh crore while 1.20 crores gross at the rest of the India box office. ## Overseas, the film has minted an estimated 21.75 crores gross in the opening weekend, pushing worldwide total to 43.60 crores. Chennai, May 20 - Actor and director Sundar C's horror-comedy Aranmanai 4 has become the highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 at the worldwide box office, beating Sivakarthikeyan's sci-fi adventure Ayalaan. ## Starring Sundar C, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Raashii Khanna, the fourth instalment of the hit franchise has grossed approximately 62 crores at the domestic box office, including approximately 56.50 crores in Tamil and 5.50 crores in the Telugu version.## The overseas collection of Aranmanai 4 is an estimated 16 crores, pushing the worldwide cume total to 78 crores gross in 17 days. Ayalaan had grossed approximately 76.50 crores and is now the second highest-grossing Tamil film of the year. ## Aranmanai 4 is the highest-grossing film in the franchise, surpassing the lifetime collection of its predecessor which grossed an estimated 30-40 crores worldwide. Hyderabad, May 20 - In a surprising turn of events, Mythri Movie Makers and NTR Arts announce that the shooting of Telugu superstar Jr. NTR's highly-awaited film with director Prashanth Neel will commence in August this year. ## Currently called NTR 31, the action drama film has reportedly been titled Dragon and it marks Jr. NTR's maidan collaboration with Prashanth Neel who last directed superstar Prabhas-fronted Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire. ## It was assumed that the filming of Dragon would kickstart only after Neel gets done with Salaar 2 which is reportedly starting in a couple of weeks. Mumbai, May 20 - Disney's science fiction action film Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has topped $200 million at the worldwide box office. Directed by Wes Ball, the film showed a solid hold in the domestic and overseas markets in the second weekend which pushed the collection past $200 million.## At the domestic box office, the stand-alone sequel to War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) crossed $100 million and currently stands at $101.2 million (845 crores) after the second weekend. Overseas, the movie showed a much better hold and added another $40.6 million to its tally for $136.3 million (1135 crores), pushing the worldwide total to $237.5 million (1980 crores). ## Made on a budget of $160 million, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is projected to finish its box office run at around $400 million worldwide, which would be less than War for the Planet of the Apes ($490 million) which was made on a budget of $150 million. ## Meanwhile, at the Indian box office, Kingdom has been decent with approximately 27.75 crores gross collection in 10 days. It is already the 4th highest-grossing Hollywood movie of 2024 in India and is expected to finish over Dune: Part 2 and Kung Fu Panda 4 as the second biggest grosser. ## Stay tuned...

Chennai, May 19 - Legendary superstar Kamal Haasan's vigilante action Indian 2 will be hitting worldwide cinemas on July 12, 2024, in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, the makers have officially confirmed the new date. ## Directed by S. Shankar, Indian 2 was supposed to be released in June but has now been postponed due to the delay in post-production work. It is the sequel to Haasan and Shankar's Indian (1996) which was a huge blockbuster at the box office. ## The new release date of Indian 2 comes with the announcement of the first single which will be out on May 22.
