Mumbai, May 14 - National-award-winning Bollywood star Tabu is going to Hollywood once again as the actress has been roped in for HBO Max's Dune Prophecy, a prequel series to Denis Villeneuve's big screen adaptation Dune (2021). ## According to Variety, Tabu will be playing the role of Sister Francesca. The character is described as "Strong, intelligent, and alluring, Sister Francesca leaves a lasting impression in her wake. Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital".## The series was originally confirmed in 2019, under the title Dune: The Sisterhood. It was supposed to be directed by Villeneuve but he now focusing only on Dune's big-screen adaptation and has already directed 2 movies in the franchise. ## Set within the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, Dune: Prophecy follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.## Dune Prophecy is yet to have a premiere date. ## Tabu, meanwhile, will next be seen in the Indian romantic thriller Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, co-starring Ajay Devgn. Hyderabad, May 13 - Actor-writer Vishnu Manchu's ambitious historical action drama film Kannappa is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films as the actor has grand plans for this big-budgeted epic. ## Recently, the makers revealed that Akshay Kumar and Prabhas have been roped in to play important cameo roles, taking the excitement to the next level with this announcement. Now, it has been revealed that the teaser of the much-awaited movie will be launched at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. ## Taking to social media, Vishnu Manchu shared the news that the teaser of Kannappa will be launched on May 20 at the Cannes Film Festival. The movie is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, best known for his television adaptations of the Indian epics Ramayana and Mahabharata.## Produced by Mohan Babu through his companies AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory, Kannappa also stars Mohanlal, Mohan Babu, and Nayanathara, among others in key roles. Chennai, May 13 - Actor and filmmaker Sundar C's Aranmanai 4 has become the third Tamil movie of 2024 to top 50 crores gross collection at the Indian box office after Dhanush's Captain Miller and Sivakarthikeyan's Ayalaan. ## Starring Tamannah Bhatia and Raashii Khanna in the leading roles, the 4th instalment of the horror-comedy franchise minted approximately 49.30 crores gross in India through the second weekend and on its 11th day (2nd Monday), it has topped the 50 crores gross mark. ## The Tamil version of the film has contributed approximately 45 crores gross while the Telugu version scored around 4.30 crores gross in 10 days so far. The movie is likely to become the highest-grossing Tamil title of the year by crossing Ayalaan (58.75 crores approx.) and Captain Miller (58 crores approx.)## It has been a much-needed success for Kollywood which was going through a dry phase in the absence of big star films. Mumbai, May 13 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn's supernatural thriller Shaitaan has almost done with its theatrical run but not before emerging as a big box office success in India and worldwide. The movie has now been made available to stream online, after 8 weeks of theatrical run. ## Directed by Vikas Bahl, Shaitaan minted approximately 50 lakh in its 9th week (the first week after the OTT release) and it dropped further in the 10th weekend for just around 8 lakh net collection. Nonetheless, the movie has done more than it was once projected with a net collection of close to 150 crores. ## At the end of its 10th weekend, Shaitaan scored approximately 148 crores net (176 crores gross) which will more or less be its final total at the domestic box office. It is currently the second highest-grossing Bollywood movie of the year domestically after Hrithik Roshan's Fighter. ## Overseas, the movie has grossed an estimated 37.50 crores, for worldwide approximately 213.50 crores gross. Again, it is the second highest-grossing Bollywood title of 2024 after Fighter which grossed over 350 crores worldwide. Shaitaan is easily one of the biggest box office successes of 2024 with total footfalls close to 90 lakh. Mumbai, May 12 - Disney's Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes opened on the projected lines at the worldwide box office with a strong $131 million in its first 5-day weekend. ## At the domestic (North America) box office, the fourth instalment in the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise grossed a solid $58.5 million (488 crores) over a 3-day weekend. The movie's opening is the second biggest in the rebooted franchise, behind only Dawn of the Planet of the Apes which opened to $72 million. ## While the domestic opening of Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes was slightly higher than the projection, the overseas collection of the movie fell a little short of the projection but was still solid with $72.7 million (607 crores) over the 5-day weekend, for $131.2 million (1095 crores) global start.## China was once again the biggest international market for the movie with $11.6 million, followed by France ($7.6M), and Mexico with $6.4 million. Mumbai, May 11 - A sequel to Ajay Devgn-fronted crime drama film Raid is in development with the actor returning to reprise his role as IRS officer Amay Patnaik. The movie is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta and produced by Panorama Studios and T-Series.## The shoot of Raid 2 is nearing completion are gearing up to release the movie in the second half of 2024. However, there might be a change in the release date which is due on November 15, 2024. Kochi, May 11 - Tovino Thomas's much-awaited period action drama film ARM - Ajayante Randam Moshanam is set to clash with superstar Mohanlal's big-budget fantasy entertainer Barroz during the Onam 2024 festival. ## According to the latest reports, ARM will be debuting in theatres on September 12, 2024, the date which is already occupied by Barroz. Mumbai, May 11 - Disney's science fiction actioner Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has had a good start at the Indian box office, taking a bigger opening than its predecessor, War For The Planet Of The Apes back in 2017. ## Directed by Wes Ball, the fourth instalment in the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise scored approximately 3.75+ crores gross (3.15 crores net) opening in India. The previous film in the franchise took the opening of around 3 crores gross collection. ## Meanwhile, at the domestic (North America) box office, the film is looking at $21 million -$22 million on Friday opening day, which also includes $6.6 million on Thursday previews. The previews for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes are the biggest in the franchise. The movie is tracking to earn over $50 million in the opening weekend domestically. ## The movie takes place 300 years after the events of War and follows a young chimpanzee named Noa, who embarks on a journey alongside a human woman named Mae to determine the future for apes and humans alike. Mumbai, May 11 - In the wake of the mega box office success of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, a new film in the MonsterVerse has officially been tapped at Legendary/Warner Bros. Studios, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter.## According to THR, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings screenwriter Dave Callaham has been roped in to write the script for Godzilla x Kong's follow-up. Director Adam Wingard is expected to return at the next film in the series, however, the filmmaker has no deal at this stage. ## Godzilla x Kong, which was released in March, has performed excellently at the worldwide box office. The movie has grossed close to $550 million globally, including $190 million at the domestic (North America) box office.
