Mumbai, July 12 - Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD, which was released on June 27, has had one of the biggest first-week collections in Hindi for a South Indian film. The sci-fi epic exceeded expectations to score over 160 crores net first week in the dubbed version. ## Kannada superstar Yash-fronted action drama KGF: Chapter 2, directed by Prashanth Neel, remains the biggest first-week South Indian grosser and it is along with SS Rajamouli and Prabhas' Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion are the only two South Indian films to have 200+ crores net first week. ## Top 5 South Indian Films In Hindi In The First Week (Net Collection) - ## 1. Mumbai, July 12 - After a series of disappointments last year, Marvel Studios is gearing up for its most anticipated film Deadpool and Wolverine, scheduled to release on July 26. Deadpool 3 is the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and a sequel to Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018). ## Deadpool 3, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, is a very important film for Marvel when it comes to its box office prospects. Chennai, July 12 - One of the most anticipated movies of the year, Indian 2 starring Kamal Haasan finally hits the big screen on July 12 after going through many delays and postponements due to unavoidable circumstances over the last few years. ## Directed by Shankar, Indian 2 is the sequel to his 1996 vigilante action thriller with Haasan, and as known to everyone, the sequel has been split into two parts. Hyderabad, July 12 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan has teamed up with director Buchi Babu Sana for a rural sports drama film, tentatively called RC 16. It marks the duo's maiden collaboration and only the second directorial venture for Buchi Babu after the blockbuster Uppena (2021). ## RC16 will feature Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead, making it her second Telugu movie after the upcoming Devara with Jr. NTR. Now, the makers have confirmed veteran Kannada star Shiva Rajkumar on board to play a pivotal role in the film. ## The official announcement of the casting of Shiva Rajkumar was made on his 62nd birthday on July 12 with the first look poster. Mumbai, July 11 - Legendary Kamal Haasan and director Shankar reunited for the sequel to their vigilante action film Indian (1996). Indian 2 has been one of the most anticipated movies of the year which can be seen in the pre-sales. ## The advance sales of Indian 2 started a couple of days ago and as of 9 PM on July 11, it scored approximately 15 crores gross pre-sales (with block seats) for the opening day in India. The original Tamil version is leading the sales with over 10 crores gross, followed by the Telugu version.## Indian 2 has already become the biggest Tamil opener of 2024 with advance sales only, and considering the trend, it is heading for 35+ crores gross start in India which could go towards 40 crores depending on word of mouth for all versions. ## The Hindi version (Hindustani 2) of the movie, however, is expected to take a low start. The Hindi version pre-sales are currently approx. 30 lakh which indicates an opening in the range of 2 crore net (2.50 crores gross). It could go a little higher if WOM is positive but the competition with Akshay Kumar's Sarfira and holdover Kalki 2898 AD could dent its growth during the day. It will be released on nearly 2000 screens in Hindi. ## Indian 2 is expected to take the worldwide opening of 55+ crores gross which will be a fantastic start for the movie. Mumbai, July 11 - Akshay Kumar's biographical drama Sarfira, a remake of the Tamil movie Soorarai Pottru, is finally hitting the big screens on July 12 after multiple delays and postponements. The movie is directed by Sudha Kongara who also directed the original movie starring Suriya. ## Sarfira has been the most anticipated new movie for the last couple of weeks, as per the IMDb's real-time popularity but the pre-sales response is telling a completely different story. The advance booking of Sarfira opened a couple of days ago but it has been progressing at a snail's pace and is not going anywhere. ## As of 4 PM on July 11, the pre-sales gross collection of Sarfira is only approximately 32 lakh with 15.6K sold for the opening day. With not much time left for the first show to start, the advance sales of the movie are heading for around 50+ lakh for the opening day which is very low. ## In comparison to the previous movies of Akshay, the pre-sales of Sarfira are trending a little above Selfiee which finished opening day sales at just around 40 lahks, and below Mission Raniganj (76 lakh gross), which are among the lowest for the actor in many years. Sarfira's pre-sales will probably finish somewhere between Selfiee and Mission Raniganj.## Selfiee opened at around 2.50 crores net while Mission Ranigang took the start of 2.80 crores net and a similar sort of opening is expected for Sarfira with a possibility of 3+ crores start depending on word of mouth. However, unlike Selfiee, Sarfira has to face challenges, first with holdover Kalki 2898 AD which is running strongly and second with Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 which is also releasing on July 12. ## Sarfira is not a mass entertainer, plus the original version of the film has widely been watched by the Hindi audience so the areas where a movie can grow are limited. The sci-fi epic has managed to score approximately 70 crores in net collection in week two. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD is among the top 20 films in the biggest second week ever in Hindi and when it comes to South Indian films, the same finished as the 4th biggest second week grosser, behind SS Rajamouli's RRR. ## SS Rajamouli and Prabhas' epic all-time blockbuster, Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion remains the biggest and the only 100+ crores net South Indian second-week grosser in the dubbed version, followed by Yash-fronted KGF: Chapter 2. Mumbai, July 11 - Veteran Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor has signed a multi-film deal with Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films to feature in the studio's upcoming Spy Universe film. According to Pinkvilla, the actor will play the head of R&AW (Research and Operations Wing) in the Spy Universe.## It is said that Anil Kapoor loved the vision of Aditya Chopra for his ambitious Spy Universe and took no time to come on board. The actor will first be seen in War 2. The Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR and Kiara Advani-fronted is currently on floors under the direction of Ayan Mukerji and it will be released on August 14, 2025.## Anil Kapoor will follow War 2 with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh-fronted female-led Spy Universe film, Alpha which also has begun filming recently. Mumbai, July 11 - Actress Triptii Dimri, who soared to the limelight after Ranbir Kapoor-fronted Animal, is on a roll with back-to-back films coming her way. Her small role in the mega-blockbuster Animal changed so much that she is now on the priority list of Bollywood filmmakers. ## Triptii is currently gearing up for the release of Dharma Productions' Bad Newz, scheduled to release on July 19, followed by Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video (October 11), highly-awaited Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (Diwali 2024 release), and Dadak 2 on November 22. She also has a romantic film opposite Kartik Aaryan, to be directed by Anurag Basu, and now, the rising star has signed one more intense romance drama. ## According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, Triptii has been locked in to play the female lead opposite Dhanush in director Anand L Rai's Tere Ishk Mein which is touted to be a tragic love story, set in a similar world as Raanjhanaa. ## Tere Ishq Mein promises to captivate audiences with its complex storyline filled with romance and varied emotions. Triptii has reportedly been assigned to play an emotionally taxing character opposite Dhanush's angry young man in the movie which is scheduled to go on floors by October this year after getting delayed due to Dhanush's commitments for South Indian films. It will primarily be shot in Varanasi and other parts of Uttar Pradesh over two months.## Meanwhile, Dhanush is gearing up for the release of his second directorial venture, Raayan in which he is also playing the lead role. Los Angeles, July 11 - Kamal Haasan's vigilante action film Indian 2 is set for a good start at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office. The pre-sales of the movie have been picking up with just a day to go before the release which is July 12. ## Apart from the domestic pre-sales, Shankar's directorial movie has managed to generate good advance sales for the North American premiere. According to Venky Box Office, the NA premiere pre-sales of Indian 2 is $650K (5.45 crores), including $580K (4.85 crores) in the USA alone after the big jump yesterday.## In the USA, Indian 2 has sold approximately 28K tickets from over 1450 shows at 484 locations for the premiere which is on tomorrow. The movie is heading for an all-time top 5 premiere day for a Tamil title and the biggest for Kamal Haasan and director Shankar. ## Meanwhile, at the Indian box office, Indian 2 has so far scored approximately 10+ crores gross pre-sales (with block seats) in all versions for the opening day. The sales have picked up nicely over the last 24 hours and it is expected to show a further jump on the last day before release.## Indian 2 is produced by Lyca Productions, and it stars Kamal Haasan, reprising his role as Senapathy, an ageing freedom fighter turned vigilante who fights against corruption, with Siddharth, S.
