Mumbai, June 24 - Disney and Pixar's Inside Out 2 has become the highest-grossing film of 2024 within just 2 weeks, beating the entire worldwide collection of Warner Bros. Pictures' Dune: Part 2 as the animated coming-of-age heading towards becoming the first billion-dollar grosser of the year. ## The sequel to Inside Out (2015) has had an excellent second weekend at the domestic (North America) and worldwide box office with $264+ million, taking its total global cume to $724+ million (6050 crores) in just 12 days, beating Dune 2's $711 million final run. ## IO2 scored $100 million in its second weekend in North America, becoming the first animated movie and 7th overall to do so. The total domestic collection reached $355 million (2965 crores) and the lifetime domestic total is projected to finish around $650 million. ## Overseas, the movie has grossed $369 million (3085 crores) after adding another huge $164+ million in the second weekend. Mexico is the biggest overseas market for the movie with $64 million, followed by the UK with $29.2 million, and Korea with $29 million. In India, the movie has grossed approximately 20 crores ($2.4 million) in 10 days so far. ## Inside Out 2 is projected to finish its worldwide run around $1.5 billion, which will put it among the top 3 highest-grossing animated movies of all time. Hyderabad, June 23 - The Prabhas-mania has begun as the advance booking of the highly-anticipated Pan India movie Kalki 2898 AD is off to a flying start in the Telugu states with tickets getting sold like hotcakes. ## The full-fledged pre-sales of the sci-fi epic, directed by Nag Ashwin, were opened on the evening of June 23 in Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. As we speak, the movie has already sold over 200K tickets through the ticketing portal, Book My Show only (will bring a detailed report soon). ## The response pre-sales is currently getting was expected in South India, especially in Telugu states as Prabhas is arguably one of the biggest movie stars with massive fan-following. In North India, where Prabhas easily has the biggest fan base among the South Indian actors, the pre-sales are opening gradually and the initial response is limited. ## Kalki 2898 AD will be aiming the record pre-sales for an Indian movie and if the initial response is anything to go by, it is definitely in the race to do so. Chennai, June 23 - The Tamil film industry is bouncing back with back-to-back box office success, however, the industry is yet to score its first 100 crores grosser worldwide in 2024. Horror-comedy, Aranmanai 4 came very close to the mark but fell a little short at approximately 99.50 crores gross. ## The second half of 2024 looking bright for Kollywood with multiple potential blockbusters lined up for release, but ahead of that, the industry may score its first 100 crore grosser in the form of Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja which is simply unstoppable at the moment. ## Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, Maharaja has grossed an estimated 75 crores at the worldwide box office, including 55.75 crores in India and 19.25 crores overseas in just 9 days so far and is in a very good position to enter the 100 crores gross club in the coming days. Chennai, June 23 - Legendary Kamal Haasan is set to have a busy next few weeks with back-to-back releases, including the vigilante action film Indian 2 which reunited him with director S. Shankar for the first time since its predecessor (1996).## On Sunday (June 23), Lyca Productions took to social media to announce that the trailer of Indian 2 will be launched on June 25, a little over two weeks before the film's release on July 12. As known to all, the movie will be released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages under the titles Indian 2, Bharateeyudu 2, and Hindustani 2, respectively. ## Produced by Subaskaran Allirajah of Lyca Productions, the sequel will be released in two parts, with the third part (Indian 3) scheduled to be released in early 2025. In the movie, Senapathy, a freedom fighter turned vigilante who fought against corruption in India, returns from Hong Kong to aid Chitra Varadharajan, who has been exposing corrupt politicians in the country through videos on the internet. ## The film stars Kamal Haasan, reprising his role as Senapathy, with Siddharth, S. J. Mumbai, June 22 - No actor from South India has dominated the North India box office more than Prabhas, arguably the biggest Indian star at the Pan India level. He has been one of the major reasons for popularizing the term, Pan India in the modern era. ## There have been 9 South Indian films to enter the 100 crores net club in Hindi language and 5 of them are headlined by Prabhas. Including Baahubali, the actor has done 6 movies so far and except for Radhe Shyam, all the films emerged as successes in Hindi, making him the only South Indian origin star to do so. ## It all began with maverick director SS Rajamouli's Baahubali - The Beginning back in 2015 when the movie broke the language barrier and left an everlasting mark at the Hindi box office by becoming the first-ever South Indian movie to cross the 100 crores net collection in the dubbed Hindi version. ## Have a look at the performance of Prabhas' films in the Hindi language since Baahubali - ## 1. Baahubali (2015) - The epic action drama was a huge success with 118.50 crores net (150+ crores gross) collection in Hindi while the worldwide collection was 650 crores in all languages. It was the movie which paved the way for arguably the biggest Indian blockbuster of the 21st century, Baahubali 2 The Conclusion. ## 2. Baahubali 2 The Conclusion (2017) - The continuation of the first part, Baahubali 2 shattered box office records, left, right, and centre to emerge a monster blockbuster. The movie earned over 1000 crores net collection in all languages (the only Indian film to do so), including 511 crores net in Hindi. It is the most-watched movie of the 21st century in the Hindi language with approximately 5.25 crores of footfalls.## 3. Saaho (2019) - After Baahubali films, Prabhas' popularity was at an all-time high and this also led to massive expectations from him to continue delivering at the box office. It came Saaho which was termed non-successful despite grossing over 450 crores worldwide. However, it continued Prabhas' success streak in Hindi in which it scored approximately 146 crores in net collection, making it the third straight movie of the actor to cross the 100 crores mark. ## 4. Radhe Shyam (2022) - After Saaho, the Covid-19 pandemic gripped the world starting in 2020 and the box office dipped to an all-time low not just in India but everywhere. Radhe Shyam was one of the Pan India movies to get released during the pandemic so there weren't many expectations from it at the box office as far as the Hindi version is concerned. It failed miserably by scoring just around 20 crores net in Hindi and was also a major disaster worldwide with just around 150 crores gross. ## 5. Adipurush (2023) - A film which could have challenged Baahubali 2's footfalls in Hindi, but failed miserably due to the poor attempt at the epic Ramayana. It was a box office failure with a worldwide collection of under 400 crores gross but managed to bring Prabhas back into 100 crores net club in Hindi, scoring approximately 148 crores net. ## 6. Salaar Part 1 (2023) - It was the first movie of Prabhas to emerge overall success since Baahubali 2 with a worldwide gross collection of over 600 crores. In Hindi, it crossed the 150 crores net mark and is currently Prabhas' second biggest grosser in the dubbed version with 153 crores net.## The next up for Prabhas is director Nag Ashwin's sci-fi epic mixed with mythology, Kalki 2898 AD which is scheduled to release on June 27. It has been one of the most anticipated Pan India movies of the year and the excitement is at its peak ahead of the release. Hyderabad, June 22 - Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD is set to hit the big screens on June 27 amid massive expectations. The second trailer, which was launched on June 21, has raised excitement among the fans and trade which is expecting the movie to do wonders at the box office. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD has managed to do a huge worldwide theatrical business as the makers locked record deals for all major areas. According to T2BLive.com, the worldwide business of the film has been valued at 370 crores with a break-even target is 372 crores. ## Kalki will need to score over 700 crores gross collection to emerge as a clean hit and if it does not reach its target mark, the makers will need to return the balance amount to buyers to make for their losses, however, the film is expected to project to become one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema.## In Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), Kalki 2898 AD theatrical business has been valued at 168 crores, including 65 crores in Nizam, 27 crores in Ceeded, 21 crores in UA, 14 and 10 crores in East and West, respectively, 12 crores each for Guntur and Krishna and 7 crores for Nallore area. It will need to gross 270+ crores in AP-TG to break even. ## The North India theatrical business has been valued at 85 crores (170 crores gross), followed by 28 crores for Karnataka, 16 crores for Tamil Nadu, and 6 crores for Kerala while the overseas business is 70 crores. Los Angeles, June 22 - The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is getting closer to its first Avengers movie since Endgame (2019) as the Multiverse Saga continues to move forward with its Phase 5 slate in which three films are left before the beginning of the final Multiverse, Phase 6. ## The next Avengers movie, Avengers 5 will mark the beginning of the end for Marvel's multiverse storyline, and as things are moving thick and fast, a massive update finally out on the first confirmed MCU star to feature in the film. ## One of the biggest MCU names in the post-Endgame era, Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch has been confirmed to be the first actor to join the massive ensemble of Avengers 5. During a recent edition of Still Watching Netflix (via Screen Rant), Cumberbatch looked back at playing Doctor Strange and also spilt a bean on the next Avengers film. ## "This is Doctor Strange. He's a Marvel character and, well, I'll be really honest about it, the joy of playing him is immense. But also the joy of playing him means I can help create and platform stories and writing and less commercial fare into being. He's a gift in many, many ways in my life as a producer, and as an actor. I love playing him. He's great fun. I'm very much looking forward to Avengers next year, which is cooking up a storm", the actor said.## Avengers 5 was originally titled Avengers: Kang Dynasty, but assault charges against Jonathan Majors, who was set to headline the film as Kang, forced Marvel to fire him and look for other titles. Chennai, June 22 - Thalapathy Vijay will next be seen in director Venkat Prabhu's sci-fi action entertainer The Greatest of All Time - GOAT in which the actor will be seen playing a dual role as a father and son, for which the makers have used de-age technology.## On Saturday (June 22), the makers launched a 50-second first-look glimpse which involves an action-packed bike chase sequence where Vijay and his son are chased by a group of goons who start attacking the duo by opening fire at them. ## The last shot involves multiple fast cuts and one of them shows that Vijay is the target of someone. Released in 2011, Rockstar won several national and international awards but was deemed average at the box office with a worldwide gross collection of around 110 crores. ## Rockstar gained popularity over the years and it has been more than a month since it was re-released in theatres and is safe to say that the movie has become a force at the box office on the limited showcasing which kept increasing week after week due to demand. ## The movie was re-released on over just 8 shows but due to high demand, it is currently playing on over 400+ shows daily. In 35 days, Rockstar has grossed approximately 7.50 crores (6.50 crores net) with a total of 9000+ shows played so far. The collection of the movie kept increasing with every passing week. ## The 5th-week collection of Rockstar re-release is approximately 2.65 crores gross (2.25 crores net) which is almost 3x of the original 5th-week run. Kochi, June 21 - Malayalam superstar Mammootty will have to wait a little longer to score his first 100 crores worldwide grosser as his action-comedy Turbo, which looked promising early on, will finish well below the 100 crores mark but has done enough to earn the hit status. ## Directed by Vysakh, Turbo has grossed an estimated 71.50+ crores at the worldwide box office in 4 weeks (29 days). In India, the movie has minted 39.50+ crores gross while the overseas collection is around 32 crores.## Turbo started on a promising note, grossing over 7 crores on opening day and 21+ crores gross in the 4-day first weekend in India. The movie finished its first full week with 29+ crores gross in India and 57.50+ crores worldwide. After the first week, Turbo looked like it would touch the 100 crores mark but mixed reviews and word of mouth came to dent its chances. ## The movie dropped heavily in the second week (-74%) and couldn't recover from this as it is now nearing its box office run after grossing just 70 lakh in the 4th week in India. Worldwide, the movie is heading towards finishing around 73 crores gross. ## Turbo is currently the 7th highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2024 and it will finish with the same position for now.
