The International Cricket Council (ICC), on Monday (April 26), announced that there will be a qualifying round to determine the final two teams that would join the host England along with India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Pakistan for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.## The six aforementioned teams secured their respective places based on the ICC Women's Twenty20 Team ranking as of April 1, 2021. The qualification process will determine which country from the Caribbean will participate in the event as players will be representing their individual countries and not the West Indies as they would at ICC events. The other team will be decided through a qualifying round which will be held by January 31, 2022.## The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) made the announcement on Monday as women's cricket features in the Games for the first time in 22 editions and cricket for only the second time ever, the first occasion being a men's ODI competition in Kuala Lumpur in 1998, which was won by South Africa.## Geoff Allardice, ICC Acting Chief Executive, said, "We are incredibly proud and excited to be part of Birmingham 2022 and it is a fantastic opportunity for us to continue to grow the women's game globally".## "We are committed to maintaining the momentum that saw 86,174 fans packed into the Melbourne Cricket Ground for the final of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup last year and Birmingham 2022 gives us another global stage on which to showcase the women's game".## "On behalf of the ICC and its Members, I thank the Commonwealth Games Federation for their support and look forward to seeing some superb cricket at Edgbaston".## The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will see 4,500 athletes from 72 nations and territories compete across 11 spectacular days of the sport. Delhi, April 26, 2021: Australian pacer Pat Cummins who is currently participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Kolkata Knight Riders, has come forward and donated $50,000 to the PM Cares Fund, specifically to purchase the oxygen supplies for the Indian hospitals. ## "There has been quite a bit of discussion over here as to whether it is appropriate for the IPL to continue while Covid-19 infection rates remain high. I'm advised that the Indian government is of the view that playing the IPL while the population is in lockdown provides a few hours of joy and respite each day at an otherwise difficult time for the country", Cummins said in a statement on Twitter.## "I encourage my fellow IPL players - and anyone else around the world who has been touched by India's passion and generosity - to contribute. I will kick it off with $50,000. Los Angeles, April 26, 2021: The 93rd Academy Awards were announced on Monday morning (as per IST), to honor the best films of 2020 and early 2021. It was the first time Oscars was held virtually and in person due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. It took place in Los Angeles - at both Union Station and the Dolby Theatre. ## Apart from honoring the top films, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) also paid tribute to the artists across industries of the world. Irrfan Khan and Bhanu Athaiya were the Indian film personalities honored in the "In Memoriam" along with Hollywood personalities, Sean Connery and Chadwick Boseman. ## Oscar nominee Angela Bassett gave a speech with the tribute, which was shown in the form of a video clip and was a homage to achievers the world of screen lost over the past year, including actors, writers, directors, and technicians.## Irrfan, who passed away last year in Mumbai at the age of 53 after a two-year battle with a neuroendocrine tumor, earned global recognition for his work in projects such as "The Warrior", "The Namesake", "Slumdog Millionaire", "The Amazing Spider-Man", "Life Of Pi", "Jurassic World" and "Inferno".## Costume designer Bhanu Athaiya became the first Indian to win an Oscar, for her work in Sir Richard Attenborough's "Gandhi" in 1982. She won the Oscar jointly with John Mollo. Athaiya was 91 when she passed away at her residence in Mumbai after a prolonged illness last year on October 16. Los Angeles, April 26, 2021: The 93rd Academy Award was held on Monday morning (as per IST), with no host, no audience, nor face masks for nominees attending the ceremony at Los Angeles' Union Station.## Among the top honors in the first of its kind of award ceremony, the American drama film "Nomadland" won big and bagged three titles including The Best Picture, The Best Director to Chloé Zhao, and The Best Actress to Frances McDormand. It has grossed just over $2.5 million at the domestic box office till now, however, Searchlight Pictures, which backed the acclaimed movie, hasn't reported official box office numbers for the film. ## There are many reasons behind Nomadland's low number at the domestic box office, considering that theaters across North America were closed for more than a year, forcing distributors to rely on hybrid theatrical and Disney-owned streaming platform Hulu. ## Before Nomadland, the 2009 American war thriller film, The Hurt Locker was the lowest grosser Oscar winner, which had earned around $11 million at the time of its win. Los Angeles, April 26, 2021: In the first of its kind of Award Ceremony, American drama film Nomadland has created history as its begged top honors at the 93rd Academy Awards. The movie won the Oscar for Best Picture while Chinese filmmaker, Chloe Zhao has created history as she has become only the second woman to win the Oscar for Best Director for Nomadland. Kathryn Bigelow was the first woman to receive the honour for The Hurt Locker (2008). ## Frances McDormand, who played the role of van dwelling woman in Nomadland, won the Oscars for the Best Actress in a Leading Role while the Best Actor award went to Anthony Hopkins for The Father. Mumbai, April 25, 2021: Famous music composer, Devi Sri Prasad (DSP), who is popularly known for working in Telugu cinema, has reunited with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in the upcoming movie Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai. ## After "Dhinka Chika" song from the film "Ready", DSP has now composed "Seeti Maar" song for the superstar. The song, which is a dance number, will be out on Monday (April 26). The music composer has recreated the song which was originally composed for Allu Arjun starrer "Duvvada Jagannadham" in 2017. ## Talking about the recreated version, he says that it has been done keeping in mind the image that Salman enjoys in Bollywood. "I have recreated the entire song to suit Salman's image whilst retaining its soul. He called me and shared his feedback on how the song sounds terrific", DSP said. ## The composer hopes that the song is appreciated by the audience as well. "We hope that the audiences enjoy the number as much as we enjoyed making it. It is a fun song that will keep you grooving", he added. ## Seetimaar is the first single releasing from Radhe which also stars Disha Patani. The lyrics of the song has been penned by Shabbir Ahmed while Kamal Khan and Lulia Vantur have sung it.
