AEW airs a Two-Night New Year's Smash Edition Of AEW Dynamite. All Elite television will serve as a special event which is more like AEW's previous edition such as Winter is Coming and Fyter Fest earlier this year.## Due to the change, AEW New Year’s Smash will now take place across the first 2 weeks of 2021, on January 6 + January 13 on TNT Drama. Being the biggest film industry in the country, Bollywood has often been criticized for not making or bringing fresh or original content for cinema lovers. In the last 4 or 5 years, Bollywood has heavily relied on remakes of which, some of the films have attracted audiences while some have failed to make a mark. ## However, things are going to be a lot different in the upcoming years as Bollywood is pulling all stops with mega-budget announcements, to woo fans back to the theaters. Amidst the big announcements, the genre that has attracted trade analysts the most is the superhero which Bollywood hasn't explored much apart from a few failed attempts in the past. ## The genre is not exactly new though. Hrithik Roshan did star in the "Krrish" films. But at no point in time has the Hindi film industry got into making so many superhero flicks at the same time as now. Trade analysts see it as a good trend, especially in these times when theatres are trying to pull the audience back amid the pandemic.## According to trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, "It's a great trend. We should make all kinds of films. When we talk of movies in today's time, we often complain that Hindi films don't have originality. They repeat themselves. This (superhero genre) is something that has not been exploited to the hilt. I think it's a step in the right direction", he told IANS.## A huge revenue in this genre generated through Hollywood films which have a big influence on the Indian audience. Global blockbusters as "The Dark Knight" series", the "Avengers" films, "Black Panther", "Wonder Woman", "Captain America: Civil War", and "Justice League" among others set the cash registers ringing in India. With more films like "Black Widow", "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" and the third part of "Spider-Man" lined up for release, the genre is alive and kicking in Hollywood. Bollywood had to take a cue.## Actor Vicky Kaushal recently got fans excited when he officially announced a new sci-fi superhero film with his "Uri: The Surgical Strike" director Aditya Dhar, and also shared posters of the film, titled "The Immortal Ashwatthama". Set around the contemporary times and modeled around Guru Dronacharya's son Ashwatthama, who in Mahabharata gets the curse to be immortal, Vicky Kaushal will play the character of Ashwatthama.## This isn't the only Bollywood superhero film in the making right now. Among films already on the floor is Ayan Mukerji's mega-budget "Brahmastra", which will reportedly have actor Ranbir Kapoor playing a man with special powers. The film also boasts of Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy in the cast.## Hrithik masks up again, too, in "Krrish 4". The hit franchise began in 2003 with "Koi... Mil Gaya", followed by "Krrish" (2006) and "Krrish 3" (2013). According to director Rakesh Roshan, the film was set for a Christmas 2020 release before the pandemic halted all the plans. However, following the Covid pandemic, the film is yet to hit the screens anytime soon. ## Filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar, who has helmed blockbusters like "Sultan" and "Tiger Zinda Hai", has planned a superhero universe. While one of his films will star Katrina Kaif, his "Mr. India" will be set in a relevant and contemporary superhero world.## In July 2020, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta tweeted that he had started scripting "Rakshak", his film about a vigilante superhero, while in December last year, there were unconfirmed reports that Kartik Aaryan would star in the film adaptation of the comic book character Phantom.## In the past, Bollywood tried to attempt the superhero genre but didn't get much success. For instance, the audience didn't accept Tiger Shroff as a hero with superpowers in "A Flying Jatt" (2016) and Abhishek Bachchan, and Priyanka Chopra starrer Drona (2008). Even the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Ra.One" (2011) failed to live up to expectations.## The "Krrish" franchise, on the other hand, still has a strong fan following. Akshay Kumar also tried his hand at the genre in the Tamil film "2.0". With Rajinikanth as the protagonist, Akshay played the antagonist Pakshi Rajan.## "Stars are important, but so is the content. You need to be original and give a desi tadka to such films," said Adarsh to IANS, who feels adding mythology element to such films "would be great". But he feels that it won't be easy to woo the Indian audience with such films as they already have good exposure to Hollywood hits.## "When you make a superhero film, you need to keep in mind that you will be compared with western counterparts because so many superhero films have released in India, and people have loved them. So obviously you have to be at par or maybe in that league to woo the Indian audience", he added.## Stay tuned...

During this time last year, movies like Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Sarileru Neekevvaru, and Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior were released and brightened the Pongal festival by bringing joy to people and the cinema. However, things got drastically changed after the month of March due to the covid-19 pandemic and the entire country went into lockdown for a couple of months. The lockdown not only halted the lives of people but also severely affected the entertainment sector that is now fighting for its survival. ## Even after the lockdown lifted and theaters are reopened, the moviemakers are hesitating to release their films in theaters. Either they are taking a direct OTT route or holding back the release date until the normalcy return. The trade analyst and exhibitors were even started speculating that Sankranthi 2021 will be without big stars' movies. And when the clouds of uncertainty were getting darker, the South Indian film industries stood up and decided to take the first step. Actress Jasmine Bhasin becomes the latest to be evicted from the 14th season of the reality show, Bigg Boss. Host Salman Khan announced her eviction which left everyone with teary eyes including Salman, in the recent episode of Weekend Ka Vaar aired on January 10, 2021. ## Jasmine was one of the strongest contestants in the show until her fight with Rakhi Sawant who entered the show as a wild card. Over the past few weeks, Jasmine was in news for her nasty fights with Rakhi, who claimed that her nose was injured when Jasmin put a mask on her head. Things got ugly when Jasmin made fun of Rakhi's body, face, and implants. Even superstar host Salman Khan felt that Jasmin's image was turning negative because of her recent change in attitude.## Now, reacting to her fight with Rakhi, Jasmine admits it worked against her and she feels, that it was Rakhi's purpose. Ric Flair returned to RAW last week on Legends Night possibly in the wake of giving a kick start to his daughter Charlotte Flair, but he instead helped out Lacey Evans securing a victory over Charlotte Flair.## It has now being reported that WWE is looking to build a romantic angle between Flair and Evans on RAW. As per Jim Ross of Cagesideseats, WWE is looking to start more love angles in the company. This could be the reason behind two-time Hall of Famer being paired with Lacey Evans on RAW.## During this week's Monday Night Raw, Ric Flair once again costed Charlotte Flair a rematch against Lacey Evans despite being restricted to be ringside. One of the leading streaming platforms, Netflix is ensuring that during this covid-19 pandemic, people won't have to step out since they are bringing high-level content on its platform. And now, the streaming giant is all set to take one step ahead by bringing some of the biggest stars of Hollywood in 2021. ## On Tuesday (January 12), Netflix, with a promise to bring "a new movie every week", announced the titles that will be premiering on the streaming service in 2021. The streamer shared the news on its official Twitter page in a video featuring some of the stars attached to these projects.## The titles include action movie "Red Notice", starring Gal Gadot, Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson along with Zack Snyder's zombie film "Army of the Dead", political satire "Don't Look Up", featuring Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio, and musical "Tik, Tik… Boom!" which is Lin Manuel Miranda's directorial debut, among others. The list also includes acquisitions like Halle Berry's directorial debut "Bruised" and "Malcolm & Marie", starring Zendaya and John David Washington.## The line-up also comprises the third chapters of the hit Netflix franchises — "To All The Boys I've Loved Before" and "The Kissing Booth". According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streamer's current 2021 originals slate consists of 70 titles – including one trilogy, with the RL Stine adaptation "Fear Street". Among these, 52 are English language live-action, eight are animated and 10 are non-English films.## ## Apart from these, Amy Poehler's "Moxie", Jennifer Hudson's "Monster", Amy Adams' "The Woman in the Window", Jason Momoa's "Sweet Girl", Jennifer Garner's "Yes Day", and Priyanka Chopra and Rajkummar Rao's "The White Tiger" will also be premiering on the platform in 2021.## This is the first time Netflix has announced a yearly features slate from the streamer's original film division, headed by Scott Stuber since 2017.## Stay tuned...

Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde starrer Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo has completed one year from its release today (January 12). Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, this action-family-drama emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters in the Tollywood industry and shattered the many box office records. ## Now, as the movie turns one, Telugu star Allu Arjun on Tuesday celebrated the success of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. He had a reunion with the film's team, including the leading actress of the movie, Pooja Hegde, and director Trivikram Srinivas. ## Sharing a pic of the reunion, Allu Arjun posted on Instagram, "One year ReUnion of AVPL. He decides to carve a place for himself within the family he truly belongs to.## Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo got a massive response from the audience at the box office. Made in a budget of over Rs. 100 crores, it grossed INR 269.35 crores worldwide. It also became only the third Telugu movie after Baahubali Part 1 & 2 to reach INR 200 crores mark in India as it collected INR 200.98 crores net in India. ## Along with the film, its soundtrack was also a big hit, with songs such as "Butta bomma" and "Samajavaragamana" becoming chartbusters. ## Stay tuned...
