Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya is arguably one of the most talented and flamboyant players in India at the moment. His ability to turn the game in the matter of just a few balls makes him stand apart from the others. ## However, Hardik's international career hasn't had a great start. He used to concede a lot of runs which had often lend him and the team in trouble. He revealed that during the Australia tour in 2016 in which he made his international debut with T20I in Adelaide, he went on to concede 26 runs off 8 balls and that left him fearing his career. ## "I conceded 26 runs from my first 8 balls and frankly thought my career was over. When I was hit for a huge six, almost 105-110m, I thought I was done. I felt it couldn't get worse than this and thankfully I managed to snare a couple of wickets," he said, speaking to Harsha Bhogle on Cricbuzz in Conversation.## Hardik Pandya who made his international debut under the captaincy of MS Dhoni has played most of his cricket under the leadership of Virat Kohli. Reflecting the beauty of the current Indian team, Hardik said that the current Indian captain and coach have backed him a lot during the tough times.## "I think he (MS Dhoni) wanted me to learn from my own experiences. Virat and Ravi Bhai (Shastri), they have given me that freedom, not just to me, but for everyone in the team. That's the beauty of this current Indian team, we have all made mistakes, but we are also learning at a very rapid pace. Those two have backed me a lot."## While cricket has given Hardik so much to appreciate, he has also had his fair share of criticism because of his off-field behavior. One such incident happened when he along with KL Rahul appeared on the Koffee with Karan show - that saw him being suspended along with Rahul for a few matches. The talented all-rounder has now opened up on the learnings from the incident.## “When that happened, I said to myself let's just accept it and try to correct the mistake. If I would've not accepted that mistake, that part would have still been in me. That phase does not bother me anymore because my family has accepted it,” he said.## Hardik, calling himself a family guy, said that his family is his backbone and without them, his existence holds no importance. He also revealed that after the Koffee with Karan controversy, his family got abused which hurt him the most. ## “I'm a family guy. Without family, I am no one. My family is my backbone. The Hardik Pandya you're seeing right now is because of the people behind the scenes, looking after me. They make sure that I am mentally stable and I stay happy".## “My family got abused. A few days after the 'Amphan' Cyclone hit West Bengal and Odisha, Cyclone 'Nisarg' is fast moving towards the coasts of Maharashtra and Gujarat. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the impact of this storm can cause strong winds and heavy rain in addition to landslides at a speed of 100 to 120 km per hour in the next 12 hours or more. Mumbai is already witnessing heavy rain and has been put on Red Alert. ## However, the government has taken full preparations to deal with it but still, people are worried about it. Bollywood star Akshay Kumar who has often seen sharing valuable inputs with people has come up with an important message this time regarding the 'Nisarg' Cyclone.## The superstar has shared a video message on social media in which he has advised people to stay indoors for the next couple of days and follow the guidelines issued by BMC. The government of Tamil Nadu has brought some happiness to the owners of cinema halls after the government has issued an amendment which stated that theaters will be opened soon. However, there is no clear indication when they will be opened but the order says that as the lockdown is opening up in phase manner, the cinemas too will open shortly. ## It has been almost two and a half months since the theaters are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the nationwide lockdown. The coronavirus pandemic has not only changed the way of living but also it has forced to make some necessary changes in sports too. Recently, the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket Committee has prohibited the use of saliva to shine the ball in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus when matches resume after the COVID-19 break. ## Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah, however, raised concern over the ban on saliva and wants the alternative to maintaining the shine of the ball as he thinks that modern-day cricket has become more of a batsman-friendly game. So it will be difficult for the bowlers if there is no alternative option for shining the ball. However, the 26-year old does not have a problem with restrained celebrations as he thinks that he is not the high-five person.## "I was not much of a hugger anyway! And not a high-five person as well, so that doesn't trouble me a lot," Bumrah said on the ICC's video series, Inside Out Interviews with former West Indies pacer Ian Bishop and former South African captain Shaun Pollock. ## "The only thing that interests me is the saliva bit. I don't know what guidelines we'll have to follow when we come back, but I feel there should be an alternative. If the ball is not well maintained, it's difficult for the bowlers".## "The grounds are getting shorter and shorter, the wickets are becoming flatter and flatter. So we need something, some alternative for the bowlers to maintain the ball so that it can do something - maybe reverse at the end or conventional swing. In Test match cricket, yes (conditions are more bowler-friendly). That is why it's my favorite format because we have something over there. But in one-day cricket, there are two new balls, so it hardly reverses at the end. We played in New Zealand, the ground (boundary) was 50 meters. So even if you are not looking to hit a six, it will go for six. In Test matches I have no problem, I'm very happy with the way things are going."## The pacer also said that he prefers to bowl with Duke balls as it assists more swing and seam as compared to SG balls and Kookaburra balls.## "I love bowling with Dukes. It seems, it swings, so basically when you have a little bit of help, it does help as it is difficult to be a fast bowler with grounds getting shorter and wickets getting flatter".## "So if the ball does something, it becomes even competition. So you feel you are in the game. With no help, you only have few things to play with. So I enjoy bowling most with Dukes ball." Bishop asked Bumrah about how he developed the outswinger, which becomes an inswinger for the left-handers and the India international called it a gradual process," Bumrah said.## Bumrah also talked about his short run-up and said that many people advised him to increase it to generate more pace but he felt that pace never increased with the length of his run-up. ## "Playing in the backyard. My run-up is because of that as we didn't have so much of space, so this (8 step run-up) is the longest that you could have had, maybe this could have been the case. I have tried longer run-up and nothing changes, speed is still the same so why to run so much."## "Basically, I have never been coached a lot. No professional coaching or camps. Till date, everything is self-taught, everything, through TV, videos. There is no proper reason for action. I have never really listened to people who told that action needs to be changed, kept on developing on strengths if I could have self-belief," he said.## Stay tuned...
