Mumbai, May 23 - Marvel Studios's next Avengers movie, Avengers: Doomsday, is set to pose a major threat to local and international releases at the box office after it was postponed to December 2026 from May 1st, 2026. ## Directed by Russo Brothers, Doomsday will now be released on December 18, ahead of the Christmas weekend globally. Interestingly, Warner Bros. Pictures' sci-fi epic Dune 3/Dune: Messiah has already been announced for December 16 release, and if it holds that date, then Hollywood is set for a major box office clash. ## Not only the local movie, Doomsday, may also challenge a big Bollywood title. It was recently confirmed that superstar Aamir Khan and director Rajkumar Hirani would reunite for the biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke, also known as the Father of Indian Cinema. ## The shoot of this yet untitled movie will begin in October this year, and if reports are to be believed, the makers are eyeing a Christmas 2026 release of the movie. Another report has stated that the movie might also be released in April 2027, on Phalke's 157th birth anniversary. ## Apart from Dadasaheb Phalke's biopic, there is Maddock Films' biggest film to date, Mahavatar, which is set against the backdrop of Ramayana and is about one of the most pivotal characters of the epic, Lord Parshuram. It was announced in November last year for a Christmas 2026 release with the shoot set to commence by the end of 2025. ## If the makers go ahead with the Christmas launch, then Doomsday might pose a major threat to both Bollywood titles. Marvel movies have historically done well, especially the Avengers movies, as Avengers: Endgame is the second-highest-grossing Hollywood movie in India, and Doomsday is very much expected to set the box office on fire. ## There is still a long time to go for Christmas 2026, and with movie dynamics changing frequently, there is a chance that the box office clash might not happen. Los Angeles, May 23 - The new Avengers movies will take more than the earlier scheduled time as Disney has postponed the release dates of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret War by nearly 7 months each. ## Doomsday, which was supposed to be released on May 1st, 2026, will now debut in worldwide theatres on December 18, 2026. On the other hand, Secret Wars has been pushed back to December 17, 2027, from its originally planned May 7, 2027, launch. ## Notably, the new release calendar saw Disney remove several unannounced Marvel titles from its calendar. The date of Feb. 13, 2026, previously slotted for an Untitled Marvel project, has been removed from the schedule. Meanwhile, the dates of Nov. 6, 2026 and Nov. 5, 2027 — both previously set for Untitled Marvel features — have been amended to simply Untitled Disney films. ## After the changes, Avengers: Doomsday and Sony's Spider-Man: Brand New Day are now the only Marvel Cinematic Universe entries slated to hit theatres in 2026. Brand New Day is scheduled for a July 31, 2026, release, which was 3 months after the original date of Doomsday. ## Doomsday and Secret Wars are both massive productions for Marvel Studios and will feature a huge cast, including the return of Robert Downey Jr., this time playing the villainous Doctor Doom. Los Angeles, May 22 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning is heading for a franchise record at the worldwide box office during the Memorial Day opening weekend, which is expected to deliver massive box office numbers. ## The Final Reckoning had an early release in a few international markets, including India, but the official international roll-out of the movie began on Wednesday. According to Deadline, the film is expected to gross $200 million - $220 million in its worldwide opening weekend, which will be a record for the franchise. ## The film's domestic (North America) opening weekend is projected to be in the range of $75 million - $85 million, while its international debut is expected to be $125 million - $135 million. The film's projected opening is comfortably beating the previous record holder, 2018's Mission: Impossible – Fallout, which scored $61 million domestically. ## While Paramount Pictures is yet to release the official collection from early international releases, the movie has grossed approximately 59 crores ($6.85 million) in India in 5 days so far. Mumbai, May 22 - Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is set to collaborate with superstar Allu Arjun for the first time for director Atlee's sci-fi action spectacle, tentatively titled AA22xA6. The actress has reportedly been roped in to play the leading lady in this highly anticipated film. ## According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, director Atlee was in talks with Deepika for the past few months before the actress officially came on board recently. This marks their second collaboration after the mega Bollywood blockbuster, Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan. ## While the details are not revealed, it is said that Deepika has been paid a huge remuneration for AA22xA6, which will be made on a budget of over 600 crores. The film also has Mrunal Thakur and Janhvi Kapoor as the other 2 female leads. The casting for the other actors is currently underway. ## Envisioned as a visually groundbreaking action spectacle set in a parallel universe, AA22xA6 features the Pushpa 2 star Allu Arjun in his first double role. Mumbai, May 22 - Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's highly-awaited Pan India movie Spirit with superstar Prabhas, seems to have a major casting shift after Deepika Padukone reportedly exited the film for some reason. ## It is said that Deepika was officially on board to play the female lead role, but has now been dropped from the film. According to the report by Bollywood Hungama, SRV got the shock of his life when Deepika Padukone refused to shoot for more than 6 hours a day for Spirit. ## Apart from the shooting hours, Deepika, through her agency, reportedly demanded an amendment to the contract. Their point of contention was simple - if the shoot extends beyond 100 days, Deepika will have to be paid extra for every single day of the shoot beyond the commitment on paper. ## The report further states that director Vanga, along with the producers, tried their best to sort out the issues, but the actress refused to bow down, eventually leading Vanga to drop the Kalki actress from the movie. He is now looking to recast for the part. ## Interestingly, Deepika had earlier turned down the offer as the shooting timelines did not match due to her pregnancy. However, due to a delay in the shoot, SRV approached her again, and this time, she agreed to come on board, before she was dropped again. ## The film is produced by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures. The teaser was launched on May 20, on the occasion of Jr. NTR's birthday. ## Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the teaser scored a huge 70+ million views on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook in the first 24 hours. As per the reports, Suhana Khan and Abhay Verma have started shooting for the film in Mehboob Studio, and the rest of the cast will join them soon. ## Directed by Siddharth Anand, King is easily among the most anticipated Indian movies. Chennai, May 21 - The blockbuster and the legendary duo of actor Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam have teamed up for the first time since their last collaboration, Nayakan (1987), for the gangster action drama film Thug Life. ## Produced by Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies, Thug Life is one of the most anticipated Tamil movies of the year, and the makers are treating it with utmost care. Also starring Silambarasan and Trisha Krishnan in prominent roles along with others, the film is scheduled to hit the big screen on June 5 in multiple languages. ## Normally, Tamil films arrive on digital platforms after just 4 weeks of theatrical run, but Thug Life is set to break this norm. According to the reports, the film will be made available on OTT only after 8 weeks of the theatrical release in all languages. ## Kamal Haasan himself confirmed the development at the Mumbai press conference, and he hopes that other filmmakers will follow this process. Mumbai, May 20 - The third instalment of the iconic Hera Pheri franchise has been the talk of the town for the last few days for the wrong reasons. While the fans were excited for the movie, veteran actor Paresh Rawal, who has been a big part of the franchise, shocked everyone by announcing his exit from the upcoming movie. ## It was reported that Rawal exited Hera Pheri 3 due to creative differences; however, he later clarified that his decision to exit the film is for some other reasons. It is said that the paperwork for the film was done, hence, Rawal's action came as a massive shock to the team. ## Now, according to the latest report by Pinkvilla, the producers of Hera Pheri 3 – Cape of Good Films have sent a legal notice to Paresh Rawal claiming damages worth Rs 25 crore, for the amount invested in the film, that is now lost due to his unprofessional behaviour.## As per the report, "Cape of Good Films had procured the rights of Hera Pheri 3 from multiple stakeholders, and even repaid all the debts existing on the film. Paresh Rawal's unprofessional behaviour has cost a bomb to the film". ## "All the amounts invested by Cape of Good Films, to make a debt-free product, were done only after the OG trio of Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty had agreed to be a part of the third Hera Pheri film. In fact, Hera Pheri 3 also went on floors as the team reunited to shoot for an extremely funny announcement video", the report further stated.## The makers have decided to consider Rawal's decision as unprofessional and uncalled for, and sent him a legal notice, demanding 25 crore to pay for the losses they have suffered due to his action.
