Kochi, March 30 - Superstar Mohanlal's action thriller is doing excellent business in the home state, Kerala and at the overseas box office and is already one of the biggest Malayalam grossers of all time. However, the movie has come under fire amid its box office dominance for allegedly displaying an anti-Hindu agenda. ## According to the latest reports, the producers have decided to re-edit and re-censor the film after massive backlash and protests. It is said that the scene related to the Gujarat Riots has been cut heavily, and the name of the antagonist has also been reportedly changed. ## There are as many as 17 cuts, including muting some parts related to the National Investigation Agency, in the new version of the film, which has been censored by a new board. The latest version will reportedly start playing in theatres Monday or Tuesday. ## Amid the growing tensions, it is being reported in the Malayalam media that superstar Mohanlal is upset with the makers over the controversy. It is said that the actor didn't watch the full movie before and has now reportedly asked the team to remove the scenes that caused the controversy. ## Meanwhile, Empuraan has crossed 150 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office at the time of writing this piece. Kochi, March 29 - There is no stopping superstar Mohanlal's action thriller L2: Empuraan, which is breaching new milestones with each passing day at the global box office, where it is nearing 150 crores gross collection. ## Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Empuraan became the fastest Malayalam film to top 100 crores gross globally, taking just 2 days to do it, and now, it has shattered one more major milestone for Mollywood by becoming the highest-grossing film at the overseas box office. ## As per early trade reports, the movie has grossed $10 million (85+ crores gross) collection internationally in its first three 3 days, and with this, it has beaten Manjummel Boys' final overseas collection of 73.50 crores gross approx to become the biggest Malayalam grosser ever outside India. ## Empuraan is set to become the first 100 crores Malayalam grosser internationally by Sunday (4 days), and this is a milestone to savour for Mollywood. Mumbai, March 29 - Superstar Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna's hugely-awaited action drama Sikandar is all set to hit the big screen on March 30, Sunday. The film, directed by AR Murugadoss, is releasing a day before Eid which falls on Monday, March 31. ## Sikandar is the first full-fledged release for Salman since Tiger 3 on Diwali 2023, and the makers are treating it as a big opportunity to score at the box office. According to the reports, Sajid Nadiadwala's production is set to be the biggest Bollywood release in India. ## It is said that Sikandar will be released on over 5500 screens across the country and will get 22,000+ shows, which is the highest ever for a Bollywood title. Currently, there are over 19K shows listed online, and around 3K more shows will be added in theatres where online booking is not available. ## The advance booking sales of Sikandar have been progressing at a slow pace, though it has picked up some momentum in the last day before release. As of 8 PM on March 29, the film has sold around 300K tickets worth around 9 crores gross (without block seats), which is currently the second biggest of 2025, behind Chhaava.## Though the advances of Sikandar are currently lagging behind Chhaava, it still has a chance to come close with a little push. Chhaava had a regular Friday release while Sikandar releases on Sunday, which gives it an advantage when it comes to spot booking, especially with the holiday on Monday. ## Chhaava opened with 31 crores net collection in Hindi, and Sikandar, which has bigger star power and a festive release, is likely to match or top this recent mega blockbuster. While the pre-sales trend indicates 25-30 crores net opening, Sikandar is expected to have strong spot booking, which is likely to take it past 30+ crores net and beyond, which is a good start. ## The film would have benefited more had it been a traditional Friday release, though the opening might not have been as big as its Sunday launch. Kochi, March 28 - There were 9 Malayalam movies to earn 100+ crores gross at the worldwide box office, and superstar Mohanlal's record-breaking action thriller L2: Empuraan has become the 10th to achieve this milestone faster than all other films. ## Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the mega-budgeted sequel to Lucifer had a gigantic opening of around 67.50 crores, and it remained excellent on the second day to cross 100 crores globally. With this, it has become the fastest to hit the milestone, beating Aadujeevitham, which took 9 days. ## Empuraan has grossed around 40 crores at the domestic box office, while overseas collection is 60+ crores gross through Friday (2 days). It is the first Malayalam movie of the year to score at the box office century worldwide. For Mohanlal, it is his third 100 crore grosser after Pulimurugan and Lucifer. Sukumaran, as director, delivered his second century after Lucifer.## By Saturday, the film is likely to become the 5th biggest Malayalam grosser of all time and will look to become number 2 by Sunday. The actor's first movie of the year in a lead role, Raid 2, is slated to hit the big screen on May 1st, and a solid teaser of the same was launched on March 28 to kick start the promotion.## Apart from Raid 2, Ajay Devgn has Son of Sardaar 2 and De De Pyaar De 2, slated to release this year. Meanwhile, the Singham star has commenced the shooting of 2 of his most-awaited films, Dhamaal 4 and Ranger of the last few days. ## The 4th installment of the comedy franchise Dhamaal is expected to see some of the cast of Total Dhamaal. It is being directed by Indra Kumar and produced by T-Series in association with Ajay Devgn Films, Maruti International and Panorama Studios. It started shooting last week.## Ranger is the first of its kind film for Ajay and he has started the filming for the same on March 27. Kochi, March 28 - Superstar Mohanlal's action thriller L2: Empuraan has shattered records to score the biggest opening ever for a Malayalam movie by a margin of more than three times. The previous biggest opener was Mohanlal's Marakkar with 20 crore gross worldwide. ## Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Empuraan received mixed reviews, but despite that, it was in its full glory on the opening day. In India, the film grossed around 24.50 crores, including around 14 crores gross in the home state, Kerala. It has beaten Thalapathy Vijay's Leo (12+ crore gross) to score the biggest opening day in the state. ## While the domestic opening was gigantic, L2 also stunned the trade by grossing a mammoth $5 million (43+ crores gross), which is the biggest Malayalam opening and bigger than any Bollywood film at the overseas box office. In the United Kingdom, the movie posted the biggest opening day ever for an Indian film with £628K (7 crore).## With the worldwide opening of 67.50 crores gross globally, Empuraan has now also the biggest opening weekend for a Malayalam title globally. Mumbai, March 28 - Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan is all set to make his directorial debut with one of India's biggest films Krrish 4. The movie will feature Hrithik in the titular role, and the makers have partnered with Aditya Chopra of Yash Raj Films to produce it. ## Krrish 4 has been in the news for a long time, but due to a high budget, the movie wasn't moving forward. Recently, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan confirmed that the script work of the movie is almost completed and they would be announcing it very soon. ## The movie was supposed to be directed by Siddharth Anand, but he recently parted ways to focus on Shah Rukh Khan's King. Los Angeles, March 27 - The Avengers have assembled once again, 6 years after Avengers Endgame emerged as one of the biggest grossers in history, as the filming of Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated Avengers: Doomsday has begun. ## On Wednesday, Marvel Studios surprised everyone when it announced the cast of the upcoming film during a nearly five-and-a-half-hour live stream. The cast of Doomsday has some surprising names, consisting of a mix of Marvel Cinematic Universe mainstays as well as actors from 20th Century Fox's now-defunct X-Men universe and upcoming stars of Fantastic Four: First Steps. ## The studio announced 26 actors who would feature in the upcoming film, and among the returning cast members from Endgame are Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Letitia Wright as Shuri, and Winston Duke as M'Baku. As previously announced, Robert Downey Jr. will be back as the villain Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man.## The cast of Marvel's upcoming May release, Thunderbolts*, was also confirmed with Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), and Lewis Pullman. The cast reveal further confirmed X-Men actors Patrick Stewart (Prof. X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops) and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique).## They will be joined by X2: X-Men United's Alan Cuming (Nightcrawler) and Kelsey Grammer (Beast), who starred in X-Men: The Last Stand for 20th Century Fox and had a cameo in The Marvels. Members of the Fantastic Four are also in the cast, including Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (The Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing) and Joseph Quinn (The Human Torch). Shang-Chi star Simu Liu and Tenoch Huerta Mejía, who played the underwater antagonist Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, are also confirmed for the movie. ## According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel hasn't announced the cast of Doomsday yet. The studio will be announcing other stars on a later date, and some of the biggest surprises are expected in that. It is being directed by Russo Brothers (Anthony and Joe) and it is slated to hit the screens on May 1, 2026.## #AvengersDoomsday.
