Hyderabad, February 7 - Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi's romantic action thriller Thandel has taken a fantastic start at the domestic box office, justifying the pre-release hype for the movie, directed by Chandoo Mondeti. ## The film is looking to score the career-best opening for Naga Chaitanya as early estimates suggest the collection to be in the range of 11-12 crores gross. The previous biggest grosser for the actor was Love Story which minted around 10.50 crores gross on its first day. ## The initial word of mouth for Thandel looks on the positive side and the pre-sales for the remaining weekend are good. It is looking to score 30+ crores gross collection in its opening weekend which will be a good collection.## There was Himesh Reshmiya's comedy action drama which opened to better-than-expected numbers as early estimates suggest 2.50-3 crores net opening day. Chennai, February 7 - After the good opening day, superstar Ajith Kumar's action thriller Vidaamuyarchi is seeing a big drop on its second day at the domestic box office, which was somewhat expected due to the mixed word of mouth. ## Vidaamuyarchi took the second biggest opening for the actor in Tamil Nadu with approximately 25 crores gross, however, the movie is seeing a drop of around 60% on Friday as early estimates suggest the collection to be in the range of 8-10 crores gross in the state. ## The drop is universal as the rest of the states have a similar kind of response as the overall second day of the movie is expected to gross 10-12 crores, dropping over 60% from the opening day of 31.75 crores gross. South Indian movies tend to drop after the first day, but here, the drop is higher than expected which is concerning. ## Word of mouth is not in favour of the film so the onus will be on the stardom of Ajith Kumar to finish to opening weekend on high good collection on Saturday and Sunday with decent pre-sales. Los Angeles, February 7 - The first teaser trailer of Marvel Studios' highly-awaited The Fantastic Four: First Steps received an amazing 202 million views in the first 24 hours across all social media platforms, according to Deadline. ## The response to the trailer is one of the best for Marvel Studios or any other studio titles in recent times. According to Disney (via THR), the trailer launch in Alabama drew the most views ever for a Marvel YouTube live-stream, in addition to becoming the No. 1 trending video on YouTube. ## Among the top 10 most-watched Marvel movie's teaser/trailers on the first day, The Fantastic Four: First Steps ranks 6th in the list. Deadline reports that it is the best-viewed first trailer of a Marvel Studio title after Deadpool & Wolverine (365M) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (355M).## Directed by Matt Shakman, The First Steps is one of the most anticipated movies of the year as fans have waited years for the studio to make a film starring Marvel's First Family, as the team is known. The last film in the Fantastic Four series was released in 2015. ## It movie is the 4th and the second reboot of the Fantastic Four film series. The previous three Fantastic Four movies for Fox grossed more than $803M at the global box office. Chennai, February 6 - Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar's much-awaited action thriller film Vidaamuyarchi was released at the box office today amid high expectations. The movie was also released in the dubbed version of Telugu as Pattudala. ## While the expectations were high, it received a mixed reception from the audience. However, the movie has done well at the box office as it is looking to score 22-24 crores in Tamil Nadu, as per estimates. Depending on how the offline shows perform, the final figure can go higher in the state. ## Apart from Tamil Nadu, the film is expected to score 6-7 crores gross collection in the rest of the domestic market for a total domestic gross in the range of 28+ crores on its first day. The opening of the movie can be called good, as word of mouth is not that great. ## The advance booking of Vidaamuyarchi for the rest of the weekend is good. Mumbai, February 5 - Superstar Shah Rukh Khan's iconic action-packed entertainer Main Hoon Na is getting a sequel with director Farah Khan returning to the helm the second part. The film was released in April 2004 and completed 20 years last year. ## According to the report by Pinkvilla, Farah Khan is working on a script that could serve as a perfect sequel to Main Hoon Na, which was the first film produced by SRK under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment.## The report states that Farah Khan wants to make the sequel with SRK. She has cracked the idea for Main Hoon Na 2, which the superstar loved. The filmmaker is currently working to crack the screenplay with her team of writers at Red Chillies. SRK is waiting to see the final script before taking the call. ## "SRK is clear to not make a sequel just for the sake of it and is well aware of the fan following that Main Hoon Na has among the cinema-going audience. He has asked Farah and his in-house team of writers to honestly work on the screenplay and come up with something that surpasses the impact of the first part", says the report.## If things go as planned, it will mark SRK's fourth collaboration with Farah Khan after Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om and Happy New Year. The original movie also starred Sushmita Sen, Suniel Shetty, Amrita Rao, Zayed Khan, and Kirron Kher, among others. ## Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up to start action entertainer King with director Sidharth Anand. Mumbai, February 5 - The box office insanity is at its peak as Chinese animated film Ne Zha 2 has gone bonkers in the domestic market over the Lunar New Year holiday weekend. The movie is setting new day-wise box office records and is about to become the biggest grosser in the country. ## Released on January 29 on Wednesday, the sequel to the 2019 movie took a massive opening of approximately $68 million before exploding during the Friday-Sunday weekend. It grossed an insane approximately $666 million (RMB 4.84B) in the first 7 days. ## This is the single-film box office record for the Chinese New Year period in the history of the Chinese box office. It is set to become the biggest grosser in China by beating 2021's The Battle at Lake Changjin, which grossed RMB 5.77 billion ($800 million) by Thursday (9 days) already. ## According to Deadline, the total Mainland grosses of all movies reached RMB 9.51B ($1.3 billion) from January 28-February 4, making it the biggest Lunar New Year weekend by outgrossing the previous record of RMB 8.02 billion. From the same period last year, China's box office saw an insane increase of 234%.## The animated franchise has historically dominated the box office as the original Ne Zha is the 5th highest-grossing title ever at the China box office with RMB 5.03 billion. The latest sequel is projected to become the first $1 billion grosser in the market and is expected to finish its run with $1.2+ billion. Mumbai, February 5 - The summer Bollywood box office of 2025 is seeing the reshuffle in release dates of some of the most-awaited films. Superstar Akshay Kumar, who has begun the year with decent success in the form of Sky Force, is looking to continue the momentum with the upcoming films over the next couple of years. ## It was revealed a couple of days ago that the Akshay-fronted biopic of C. Shankaran Nair has been titled Kesari 2. It was reported that the movie would be postponed from March 14, and now, according to the report by Bollywood Hungama, Dharma Productions has scheduled it for an April 18 release in cinemas worldwide. ## Instead of Kesari 2, Dharma Productions has slotted romance drama Dhadak 2, starring Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi, for March 14 release on the occasion of the Holi festival. The movie was supposed to hit the big screens on February 21 after earlier getting postponed from November 2024. ## Meanwhile, with Kesari 2 heading for an April 2025 release, the report further stated that Akshay and Arshad Warsi-fronted highly-awaited courtroom comedy drama Jolly LLB 3, which is scheduled for April 10 release, has been postponed to August this year. It is said that producer Karan Johar and Akshay agreed on the changes in release dates. ## One more big Dharma Productions venture of the year, rom-com Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, is reportedly getting delayed to the second half of 2025. The movie has created a good buzz and is set for a better start this weekend. ## Thandel reunites Naga Chaitanya with actress Sai Pallavi after the superhit Love Story (2021), which was the only solo hit for the former post the Covid-19 pandemic. The movie is directed by Chandu Mondeti, whose last directorial, Karthikeya 2, was a huge blockbuster at the box office. ## Despite poor recent records for Chaitanya, Thandel has managed to fetch career-best pre-release theatrical business for the actor. According to T2BLive, the Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) business of the movie is valued at approximately 27.50 crores, including 10.50 crores for the Nizam area. ## Apart from AP/TG, the rest of India business is at 3.50 crores, while overseas business is locked at 6 crore, for total worldwide theatrical business at 37 crores. Mumbai, February 5 - The all-time box office blockbuster Pushpa 2 - The Rule reloaded version has scored a good viewership on its streaming debut at Netflix. The Allu Arjun-fronted Pan India movie has almost finished its box office run and recently started streaming in all versions with added runtime. ## The action drama debuted on Netflix on January 30, and in the opening weekend, it generated 5.8 million views across languages. This is the third-biggest viewership debut for a post-theatrical Indian film since 2024, after Fighter (5.9 million) and Animal (6.2 million).## Pushpa 2 was the second most-watched non-English title globally on Netflix during the week of January 27 - February 2. It was the number 1 movie in 7 countries, including India, Mauritius, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan, and Bangladesh and the top 10 in 15 countries in its debut week.## Netflix acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of Pushpa 2 - The Rule for a massive price of 270 crores for all versions, that too without getting the benefit of a short theatrical window. While the opening weekend numbers look decent, given how Indian films have faired on streaming, it can be called underwhelming with the high cost involved. ## The initial reception for the movie seems to be ok, but it needs to be seen how it goes in the coming days.
