Chennai, January 5 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja missed out on entering the 200 crores club at the worldwide box office despite a superb run in China where it has become the highest-grossing Indian movie since 2018. ## Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, Maharaja has been fantastic on the mainland, finishing with approximately 91.65 crores as the 10th highest-grossing Indian film there. The film was released on November 29 last year in China, and thanks to positive word of mouth, it kept climbing at the box office before running out of gas. ## Earlier, the blockbuster grossed approximately 107.50 crores worldwide and it looked like the China collection would take it past 200 crores gross. However, the film finished with a worldwide total of approximately 199 crores gross, which is nonetheless a blockbuster result. ## Maharaja has earned 83.50 crores gross in India and 115.50+ crores at the overseas box office. It is the 4th highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024, behind Vettaiyan (253.70 crores approx.), Amaran (333.65 crores approx.) and The Greatest of All Time (457 crores approx.).## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, January 5 - Producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films has reacted to the recent comments made by Telugu producer Naga Vamsi on the Bollywood film industry. During a roundtable interaction of filmmakers, Vamsi said that while the South industry is going Pan India, Bollywood filmmakers are making films only for Juhu and Bandra in a seemingly arrogant tone. ## During Sky Force's trailer launch event, producer Dinesh Vijan was asked to react to Vamsi's derogatory remarks. The filmmaker, who has been in top form with back-to-back big successes, made a very dignified response without showing Vamsi and South industry in a bad light. ## Speaking about the same, Vijan said that since the pandemic, there are 5 Hindi films (Pathaan, Jawan, Gadar 2, Animal, and Stree 2) which has crossed 500 crore net collection which didn't exist earlier. He said that just because Bollywood filmmakers don't speak about or brag about those successes, the fact is that we have 5 huge films (since Covid-19). ## Without gunning down the entire South industry, Vijan said that there might be 1 or 2 people who speak like that but whenever he has gone to South, they (South filmmakers) have been very encouraging. He called for unity and said that we should start calling ourselves as Indian film industry. ## Meanwhile, Sky Force stars Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya (in his acting debut) alongside Sara Ali Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Sharad Kelkar in key roles. Mumbai, January 4 - After a very good opening of around 1.20 crores net collection, Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone's 2013 romantic-comedy Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani scores an almost 100% jump on its second day of re-release. ## The Ayan Mukerji's directorial blockbuster had over 750 shows on the first day and with demand rising, the shows doubled on its second day at around 1600 shows. The movie minted an approximately 2.25 crores net collection on Saturday, pushing 2 two-day re-release total of the film to around 3.45 crores. ## The film has good pre-sales for Sunday which should mean another good day at the box office. It is looking for a 6+ crores net opening weekend which will take its total collection (including the original run) to around 195 crores and then break into a 200 crore club by next weekend or before. ## There are a couple of new films releasing next weekend, however, the lack of buzz for them might help YJHD to have an extended re-release run till Republic Day. The popularity of Ranbir Kapoor among the young generation is certainly helping the biz and this is expected to continue for a few weeks to come. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, January 4 - The long wait for Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's much-awaited action thriller Sky Force as the makers have unveiled a striking first-look motion poster. The film is directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur. ## The motion poster features Akshay Kumar and debutant Veer Pahariya in the Indian Air Force uniforms and offers a glimpse into a gripping tale of courage and dedication. The poster has an intriguing tagline which reads, "Some missions end, while others last a lifetime".## Apart from the impressive first look, the motion poster involves a patriotic song which is sung by B Praak. The singer has previously delivered a few of the biggest blockbuster songs for Akshay and this one also gives the vibes of another massive chartbuster.## Produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films in association with Jio Studios, the Sky Force trailer will be launched on January 5 during a grand event. The makers have also unveiled the official release date of the film which is January 24, during the Republic Day weekend. ## Sky Force is said to be inspired by India's retaliatory attack on the Sargodha airbase of Pakistan in the Indo-Pakistani air war of 1965, described as India's first and deadliest airstrike. Hyderabad, January 4 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan's political action drama Game Changer is all set to hit the big screens on January 10, during Sankranthi festival week in multiple languages. S. Shankar directs the film which also stars Kiara Advani and SJ Suryah in prominent roles. ## Meanwhile, the trailer of Game Changer was launched on January 2 and it has received massive viewership. Mumbai, January 3 - Bollywood stars Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone's coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani makes a blockbuster return to the big screen after more than 11 years since its original release back in 2013. ## The year 2024 saw a few Bollywood films testing successes at the box office in their re-release run and continuing that momentum, Karan Johar's Dharma Productions re-release YJHD on January 3 and to no surprise, the film opened to packed boards all across. ## On its first day of re-opening, the cult classic minted approximately 1.20 crores net collection with more than 65K tickets sold. This is one of the biggest openings for a re-release Bollywood title and with good pre-sales, the movie is set to have a very good weekend total. ## In its original run, YJHD minted approximately 188.50 crores net collection and now, it has a chance to enter the 200 crores club after re-issue. Mumbai, January 3 - There is no stopping Pushpa 2 - The Rule which continues to script new records with each passing day. It has become the highest-grossing film ever at the Indian box office after surpassing Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion in 29 days. ## The Allu Arjun-fronted blockbuster has crossed 6 crores (60 million) footfalls in India in 29 days, becoming the first film since Baahubali 2 (2017) to achieve the feat. BB2 had sold over 100 million tickets in India and is among the very few films to do so. ## Pushpa 2 - The Rule is among the top 10 most-watched films in India. Iconic Sholay (1975) continues to remain the number 1 film with well over 12 crore tickets sold.## On the online ticketing platform Book My Show, Pushpa 2 has sold 20+ million tickets so far and this is the first time when a movie to done this in the platform's history. Hyderabad, January 2 - Pushpa 2 has now officially become the highest-grossing film ever at the Indian box office, beating SS Rajamouli's epic blockbuster Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion. The Allu Arjun-starrer had already crossed BB2 in terms of net collection in 16 days. ## Starring Prabhas, Baahubali 2 grossed approximately 1417 crores (1030 crores net) in India back in 2017. This record remained unbeatable for more than 7 years and at once, looked like would remain untouched for some more time but Pushpa 2 had other ideas. ## The action drama film has topped BB2 on its 29th day, becoming the biggest blockbuster in India. Apart from these two films, Yash-fronted KGF: Chapter 2 has also grossed 1000 crores in India, however, Pushpa 2 and BB2 are the only films to earn 1K crore in terms of net collection. ## At the worldwide box office, the Sukumar's directorial venture is marching towards 1700 crores gross, having earned around 1685 crores in 29 days. Mumbai, January 2 - Producer Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films is upping the ante and creating its own MCU in the form of a horror-comedy universe. The studio has already released 4 films of the horror-comedy universe with Stree 2 being the game-changer after the massive blockbuster success at the box office last year. ## The response the previous 4 films got at the box office made Maddock Films dream big and in that aspect, the studio has announced 8 more films in the horror-comedy universe which will be interconnected to each other. The universe will conclude in 2028 with the final two films, along the lines of Avengers movies. ## Among the 8 new films announced, the studio has confirmed Bhediya 2 for 2026 release and Stree 3 for 2027 debut on the big screen while the Munjya sequel is also greenlit for 2027 launch. Mumbai, January 2 - Superstar Allu Arjun's action drama Pushpa 2 - The Rule has achieved a crazy milestone as it has become only the third movie ever to cross 1000 crore gross collection at the worldwide box office in Hindi after superstar Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Jawan. ## The Hindi version of this mega-blockbuster has grossed approximately 925 crores at the domestic box office and over 115 crores overseas for around 1040 crores gross globally. The movie is heading towards finishing its total run with over 1100 crores gross worldwide which will make it the biggest Hindi grosser ever. ## Overall, Pushpa 2 has minted an estimated 1675+ crores worldwide, including around 1410 crores gross in India and 266+ crores at the overseas box office in all versions.
