Mumbai, August 14 - With new releases about the take centre stage, 6-year-old romantic drama Laila Majnu is putting up a show at the box office after getting re-released recently. The movie is directed by Sajid Ali.## Laila Majnu has surpassed expectations with its re-release as the day-wise trend is excellent. On its 6th day, it has earned an estimated 1 crore gross which is higher than the previous 2 days and the second biggest day of its re-release run so far.## The total re-release collection of the movie is approximately 4.75 crores gross in 6 days. It has already outgrossed its original run of approximately 3.20 crores in India in just 5 days and its full first week is expected to be 5+ crores which is an excellent result.## Laila Majnu will now face tough competition from new releases, starting on August 15. However, it has shown enough power in its re-release run so far to sustain against the new films. Mumbai, August 14 - Amid the juggernaut of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's Stree 2, this Independence Day weekend will see Akshay Kumar-fronted Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's Vedaa will fight it out to come second at the box office. ## Akshay returns to his forte comedy genre in which he has scored many successes but all are not the same this time. The actor is coming after a series of unsuccessful films and to turn the tide, he will have hope for a change in fortune and hope the film turns out to be a really good one. ## As said, the opening of Khel Khel Mein is expected to be low considering the pre-sales which are better than Akshay's last film Sarfira but overall remains low. As of 8 PM on August 14, the movie has sold approximately 29K tickets with approx. 1 crore gross for the opening day.## The final opening day pre-sales of the movie are expected to be in the range of 1.50 crores gross which indicates the opening in the range of 4-5 crores net. The Independence Day holiday will provide some boost but that is unlikely to make much difference to the overall opening. ## Vedaa reunites John Abraham with director Nikkhil Advani since Batla House (2019) which was also released on August 15. While Batla House scored a very good opening of 15+ crores net 5 years ago, things are a lot different this time around. ## The pre-sales of Vedaa are almost similar to Khel Khel Mein though it has sold more tickets (39K as of 8 PM) so far. The movie's opening is expected to be in the same range as Akshay-starrer, however, the action genre might attract more footfalls in mass centres which can boost the collection a little more. ## There is a long holiday period coming up, but Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa will need a unanimously positive reception from the audience to make the most of it, unlike Stree 2 which will open, at least, 3X of the combined total of the other two movies. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, August 14 - Disney's animated blockbuster Frozen III will make its big screen debut in November 2027. ## Walt Disney Animation's chief creative officer Jennifer Lee announced on Wednesday at D23 that the third installment of the musical fantasy franchise will be released on November 24, 2027, according to the report by The Hollywood Reporter.## Frozen 3 was originally scheduled for a 2026 release but the production is getting delayed due to various reasons which made Disney push the film to the Thanksgiving weekend in 2027. Apart from setting the release date of Frozen 3, Jennifer Lee previously confirmed that the fourth movie in the series is also in development.## Frozen has been a money-making franchise for Disney as both the previous films grossed over $1 billion each at the worldwide box office. The first Frozen movie, released in 2013, made $1.29 billion and is currently the 4th biggest animated grosser of all time.## The sequel, Frozen 2 was released in 2019 and bettered its predecessor at the box office by grossing over $1.45 billion globally. Mumbai, August 14 - The highly-anticipated horror-comedy Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in the leading roles, is all set to explode at the box office this Independence Day weekend, thanks to the extraordinary pre-sales for the weekend.## The movie is a part of producer Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Supernatural Universe and is the sequel to 2018's film Stree. Apart from the well-received teaser/trailer and songs, being a sequel to the blockbuster movie is proving to be a massive advantage for Stree 2 and the same is being reflected in the advance sales.## The advance booking of Stree 2 for the opening day is already the highest of 2024 in Hindi by a long margin and is looking to score one of the biggest pre-sales for a non-superstar title. As of 2 PM on August 14, the film has sold approximately 450K tickets worth 13 crores gross for the opening day (August 15).## The pace of Stree 2 pre-sales has been excellent since the day it opened and is expected to beat Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki (15.40 crores gross) to score the biggest booking in Hindi since Ranbir Kapoor's Animal in December 2023. The movie is looking to beat Dunki's opening (29 crores net approx.) but considering Stree 2 has more commercial value and huge anticipation, it is expected to score in the mid-3Os.## The film is releasing on Independence Day which will boost walk-ins so there is a good chance of Stree 2 going beyond the 35 crores net mark and an outside chance of touching 40 crores net (optimistic), depending on word of mouth. The movie is clashing with Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's Vedaa, however, Stree 2 is behaving like a frontloaded solo release as the pre-sales are miles ahead of the rest of the two movies.## Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 will easily become the biggest opener for Shraddha Kapoor as well as Rajkummar Rao, director Kaushik and also for Maddock Films. Hyderabad, August 14 - Telugu star Ram Pothineni's much-awaited sci-fi action drama film Double iSmart is finally hitting the big screen on August 15 and the movie is looking to make big at the box office during the long holiday weekend due to Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan.## Directed by Puri Jagannadh and also starring Sanjay Dutt and Kavya Thapar, Double iSmart has managed to fetch record theatrical business for Ram Pothineni-starrer. According to T2BLive, the sequel's worldwide theatrical business has been valued at 48 crores and it will need to score around 80 crores gross to emerge as a box office hit.## In Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), the theatrical rights of Double iSmart have been locked at 39 crores, including 15.50 crores for the Nizam area, 6 crores for Ceeded and 17.50 crores for Andhra regions. Outside Telugu states, the film's business is 6 crore while overseas business is 3 crore. ## Double iSmart is the sequel to iSmart Shankar which was a big box office blockbuster. Mumbai, August 14 - Marvel Studios has reportedly scrapped plans to develop Eternals 2 after the first movie didn't do well at the box office. The movie was directed by Chloé Zhao and introduced new superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.## While the ending (hailed as one of the best in the MCU) of Eternals suggested the character would return in the sequel, Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently said that there are no immediate plans to make Eternals 2 and now, as per Variety, the studio has dropped plans to develop it.## The news of scrapping Eternals 2 comes from Variety reporting on actor Kit Harington discussing his MCU role. The post-credit scene of Eternals was supposed to set up Kit Harington to appear in Blade along with Mahershala Ali, however, Blade has been delayed multiple times and is presently getting retooled.## Eternals was the 26th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and it starred an ensemble cast including Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie. ## The film met with disappointing critics reviews and above-average audience score. Hyderabad, August 13 - Telugu superstar Jr. NTR has wrapped up the entire filming for the highly-awaited Pan India action drama film Devara: Part 1, directed by Koratala Siva. It is the first movie of the actor since the mega-blockbuster, RRR in March 2022.## Jr. NTR took to social media platform X and shared the news as he wrote, "Just wrapped my final shot for Devara Part 1. Mumbai, August 13 - The re-release box office collection of romantic drama Laila Majnu has outgrossed its original run in the flat 5 days, scoring a big achievement amid the new release duds over the last couple of weeks. ## The Triptii Dimri and Avinash Tiwary-starrer heartbreaking tale of romance has scored an estimated 75+ lakh on its 5th day (Tuesday) which takes its total re-release collection to over 3.60 crores gross in 5 days. The movie had grossed an estimated 3.20 crores in its lifetime original run. ## The day 5 collection of Laila Majnu's re-release is bigger than day 4 (Monday) and day 2 (Saturday) which is excellent. At first, it looked like the movie would run out of time to beat its original run due to the arrival of new releases on August 15 but it did unthinkable to achieve the feat.## The movie is trending much better than anticipated as it went almost unnoticed during its original run back in 2018. Mumbai, August 13 - Maddock Films' horror-comedy Stree 2 is a one-horse race in the much-talked-about clash with Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's Vedaa on August 15.## Starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, Stree 2 is looking at a massive opening at the box office and easily the biggest of 2024 for a Bollywood title after the record-breaking pre-sales of the year for any movie in the Hindi version.## The Amar Kaushik's directorial has beaten Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD (8.65 crores gross) and Hrithik Roshan's Fighter (8.40 crores) to score the biggest opening day booking of 2024 in Hindi. As of 9 PM on August 13, the total opening day (excluding previews) pre-sales of Stree 2 is approximately 9 crores gross with over 300K tickets sold (without block seats).## With still more than a day left, Stree 2 is looking to score over 15 crore gross advance sales and it will most likely beat Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki which scored approximately 15.50 crore pre-sales on the opening day. Hyderabad, August 13 - Telugu director Nag Ashwin teamed up with Pan India superstar Prabhas on Kalki 2898 AD which stormed the box office and has become one of the biggest Indian grossers of all time by topping 1000 crores worldwide. ## Kalki 2898 AD is the first installment in the planned Kalki universe but it seems the second film will take some time to get on the floors. The blockbuster filmmaker has announced his next film, tentatively titled Project S and has teamed up with the iconic production house AVM Productions for the same.## The details about the project are not revealed yet but the makers announced on social media that they are looking for associate directors based in Hyderabad for Project S. Interestingly, Kalki 2898 AD's working title was Project K and with his next being called Project S, the fans are drawing similarities. ## However, both the movies are unrelated as Prabhas-starrer was produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, another iconic production studio. Chennai, August 13 - The much-anticipated trailer of Tamil star Suriya's fantasy action thriller film Kanguva was released on August 12 and it largely met with positive reception. Directed by Siva, the movie also stars Bobby Deol and Disha Patani in prominent roles.## Produced by Studio Green and UV Creations, the Kanguva trailer scored 19+ million views in the first 24 hours and it was the most-viewed video on YouTube in the world in the past 24 hours. Additionally, the trailer scored 700K+ likes during the same period.## The trailer of the movie was released in multiple languages in a single video on the Saregama Tamil YouTube channel. It said it is available in five languages - Tamil, along with the dubbed versions of Telugu, Hindi, Malayala, and Kannada versions.## Scheduled to be released on October 10, Kanguva's reportedly story travels 500 years from the 1700s to 2023 about a Hero who has to fulfil a mission left unfinished.
