Mumbai, July 31 - It was a record-breaking weekend for Marvel Studios' R-rated superhero comedy Deadpool and Wolverine which is the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not long before, MCU scored the biggest disaster of its history in Brie Larson-fronted The Marvels with just $206 million worldwide. ## Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, had a monstrous opening weekend which saw it shattering many records at the domestic and worldwide box office. Mumbai, July 31 - As DCEU is trying to find its footing again, the DC Studios co-head and director James Gunn has announced that Superman movie has wrapped up filming. It is the first film in the DC Universe (DCU) and a reboot of the Superman film series. ## The principal photography of Superman began on February 29, 2024, which is the canonical birthday of the comic book superhero. Now, after nearly 5 months, the makers have officially announced the shoot wrap as director James Gunn lauds the commitment, creativity, and hard work of the cast and crew while filming for the movie.## "And that's a wrap", Gunn wrote on X. Hyderabad, July 31 - Pan India superstar Prabhas has teamed up with director Maruthi for the first time for a romantic horror-comedy film The Raja Saab which is currently in production. It is learned that 40% of the total shoot has been completed and the next schedule will commence in the first week of August. ## Meanwhile, the makers recently released the first look glimpse into the character of Prabhas in the movie. The glimpse shows Prabhas in his vintage avatar as a charming lover boy who is being loved by his fans who have been seeing the actor in mass action roles for the last few years.## The Raja Saab is produced by People Media Factory and the production house announced on social media that the 45-second video the First Look Glimpse scored 20+ million digital views in the first 24 hours. This is decent viewership as it is not a usual mass Pan India movie and has its limitations. ## The movie stars Prabhas in the title role alongside Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, and Riddhi Kumar in prominent roles. Hyderabad, July 30 - Telugu superstar Jr. NTR is setting up a massive movie line-up as he gears up for the release of the much-awaited Devara: Part 1 on September 28, 2024. It will be the actor's first film since the mega-blockbuster RRR in March 2022.## According to the report by Pinkvilla, Jr. NTR is in talks with Nani's Hi Nanna director Shouryuv for a two-part mega-budgeted action drama. The first part is scheduled to go on floors by 2026 for 2028 release. If all goes well, it will be the maiden collaboration between the actor and one film old director.## It is said that Jr. NTR has loved the subject and he has asked Shouryuv to develop it into a screenplay. It's a high-octane action drama and is planned as a two-parter. Chennai, July 30 - The Tamil Film Producers Council has made some sensational decisions regarding the functioning of Tamil films and actors. As per reports, TFPC has decided to hold the shootings of the new Tamil movies after August 15. ## It is learned that many producers have complained about actors' negligence towards completing the films despite taking advance payment. TFPC has taken a decision that only after the actors and technicians finish the pending films, will they be allowed to act in the newly signed movies. ## One of the most important topics which were discussed by the council was the issue of films being streamed on OTT platforms early. Over the past few years, Tamil films, including star heroes movies, have been made to stream online within 4 weeks which has reduced footfalls in theatres, causing huge losses to exhibitors and distributors.## The producers' council has decided that going forward, the digital release of all-star heroes films will only be after 8 weeks of the theatrical run. Hyderabad, July 30 - There is no stopping Pan India superstar Prabhas who is gearing up for back-to-back shoots for his new films. The actor is currently basking on the mega-blockbuster success of Kalki 2898 AD which recently crossed 1000 crores worldwide gross.## It is known to everyone that Prabhas will be teaming up with Sita Ramam director Hanu Raghavapudi and according to the latest Telugu media reports, the shoot for the yet-untitled film will commence in September this year. It is said to be a period action drama movie, set against the backdrop of the Razakar movement. ## The film will be produced by Mythri Movie Makers which also has Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2, Jr. NTR's film with Prashanth Neel, Ram Charan's next with Buchi Babu Sana, and Pawan Kalyan's Bhagat Singh with director Harish Shankar in the pipeline. ## Meanwhile, Prabhas currently has director Maruthi's romantic horror comedy, The Raja Saab in production. Mumbai, July 30 - Marvel Studios shocked the entertainment fraternity when it announced the much-talked-about comeback of Robert Downey Jr. in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to headline the next Avengers movies along with the director duo of Russo Brothers (Joe Russo and Anthony Russo) at the San Diego Comic-Con event recently.## Unlike what people might have thought Downey Jr. would make a comeback as Iron Man, the superhero character he has donned over the years since the inception of the MCU, the actor has been tasked to play the villainous Doctor Doom this time around.## Though the casting of Downey Jr. has garnered a mixed reception no one can deny the fact that it, along with Russos' directorial MCU comeback only gonna benefit Marvel big time just like the old days when they used to help Marvel print money at the box office like the back of hand. This, however, will cost Marvel way more than what it used to pay the Iron Man star and Russos in the past.## According to Variety, the Kavin Fiege-owned Marvel will sign a $80 million paycheck for Anthony and Joe Russo to direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars and significantly more for Robert Downey Jr. to tackle uber-villain Doctor Doom in the two tentpoles. ## The report further revealed that the Russos' deal with the studio doesn't include back-end compensation, but it does contain performance escalators that kick in at the $750 million and $1 billion thresholds. It is to be noted that the director duo is also producing the upcoming Avengers movies under their banner AGBO.## Downey Jr. has been by far the biggest paid member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Variety reports that the actor has earned between $500 million and $600 million for playing Iron Man. For the upcoming Avengers movies, the actor will get the perks that include private jet travel, dedicated security and a whole trailer encampment, other than his massive undisclosed payday, which is, as said above, way more than Russos.## Avengers Doomsday and Avengers Secret Wars are scheduled to be released in May 2026, and May 2027, respectively. Mumbai, July 29 - A couple of days back, the makers of John Abraham-fronted upcoming action drama Vedaa issued a statement stating that the censorship of the movie was facing delay due to some reasons as the team putting all the efforts to make it ready for August 15 release.## While there is no official word on further development yet, the latest reports have confirmed that Vedaa has been censored by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and it has received a 'U/A' certificate without any cuts, as per Pinkvilla. The makers, however, have been advised to put a disclaimer at the beginning to avoid any confusion. ## The movie deals with an important issue and the CBFC team reportedly could relate to what makers are trying to address through the film. With this, the path for the August 15 release has also been cleared and the makers will kickstart promotion with the trailer release this week. The Vedaa trailer too has been certified U/A by the CBFC with a run time of 3 minutes and 10 seconds.## Directed by Nikkhil Advani and produced by Zee Studios, Emmay Entertainment, and JA Entertainment, Vedaa depicts the bravery of one person challenging a draconian system in an uprising. New Delhi, July 29 - Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa's romantic-comedy Jatt and Juliet 3 has become the highest-grossing Indian Punjabi film of all-time at the worldwide box office, beating Gippy Grewal's Carry On Jatt 3.## Directed by Jagdeep Sidhu, Jatt & Juliet 3 recently became only the second Indian Punjabi film to top 100 crores worldwide, and now, it has become the top grosser with approximately 102 crores worldwide collection. Carry On Jatt 3 is a little short of the 102 crores mark at second place.## In India, the third instalment in the blockbuster franchise has grossed approximately 44.50 crores while the overseas collection is an estimated 57.50 crores after the fifth weekend (32 days). As reported previously, JJ3 is the highest-grossing Indian Punjabi film at the overseas box office.## The highest-grossing Punjabi movie is Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan's The Legend of Maula Jatt which is a Pakistani movie. Chennai, July 29 - Tamil star Dhanush scored a much deserving success with his latest action thriller Raayan after the excellent 3-day opening weekend at the worldwide box office. The A-rated blockbuster scored close to 70 crores gross collection, already one of the highest-grossing Tamil movies of the year.## Directed and headlined by Dhanush, Raayan witnessed a continued jump over the weekend at the domestic box office, which is not a regular case for South Indian films. With approximately 49 crores gross collection, the movie scored the second biggest opening weekend for a Tamil title of 2024, behind only Indian 2. ## In Tamil Nadu, Raayan minted approximately 34 crores gross, followed by approximately 5.50+ crores in Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telengana). The rest of the domestic market contributed approximately 10 crores gross collection. ## At the overseas box office, the movie has had a superb weekend with approximately 22 crores gross. This led to approximately 71+ crores worldwide cume, making it the 6th highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024. The worldwide opening weekend of Raayan has almost wiped out Dhanush's last film, Captain Miller's entire run of 75 crores gross. ## Raayan will cross Captain Miller and Ayaalan (76.60 crores gross approx.) by the first Monday or Tuesday to become the 4th highest-grossing Tamil film of the year. By next weekend, it will cross all but Indian 2 to emerge as the second-biggest-grosser and will eventually look to down the Kamal Haasan-starrer to reach the top in the long run.## Stay tuned...
