Mumbai, July 18 - Director Nag Ashwin's dystopian future sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD has taken the box office by storm to become one of the biggest blockbusters. The movie starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani is nearing 1000 crores worldwide gross which will make it only the 7th Indian movie ever to do so. ## Recently, Prabhas thanked his fans for making Kalki 2898 AD a massive box office success and also expressed gratitude towards his co-stars in the movie. As the movie is still running well in theatres, legendary Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan have shared their joy at the film's success and expressed gratitude for being a part of it. ## "For Prabhas, this may be something of a routine because a lot of his films (Baahubali 2) cross this Rs 1000 crore figure, but for me, I am truly indebted and very grateful to have been made a part of this huge concept called Kalki. I have already seen the film four times... and each time, I have discovered something new, something that I may have missed when I saw it the first time", Amitabh Bachchan said. ## ## Kamal Haasan, meanwhile, has had a small role in Kalki 2898 AD as his full-fledged role will be featured in Kalki 2 as Supreme Yaskin, a totalitarian god-king ruling the post-apocalyptic world from the "Complex". The actor said that it was a moment to be celebrated as not many films of him have touched the milestone of 1000 crores at the box office.## The veteran actor also revealed that director Nag Ashwin went to Los Angeles to perfect the look of the Supreme Yaskin, which appears only for a few minutes in Kalki 2898 AD. Mumbai, July 18 - In a massive but pleasant surprise, Joe and Anthony Russo, famously known as the Russo brothers, are in talks to return to the MCU to helm the next two Avengers movies, according to the report by The Hollywood Reporter.## It is to be noted that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton was originally set to direct Avengers 5 but he backed out last year after the movie faced major hurdles due to the controversy surrounding actor Jonathan Majors who was to play the centre role as the main villain, Kang.## Marvel Studios has been searching for directors to oversee the fifth and sixth Avengers movies for a long time. The studio had earlier reportedly reached out to Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy for the fifth Avengers movie, but he had turned the offer down in the past. ## The talks with the Russo Brothers are in the early stages and if they agree, it will mark a homecoming for the director duo who once was the biggest IP of Marvel. They have directed four of Marvel's biggest movies, Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), followed by Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). ## The four Marvel movies directed by Russos generated a combined gross of $6.68+ billion, including Endgame ($2.79 billion) as the second highest-grossing movie ever at the worldwide box office behind only James Cameron's Avatar with $2.92 billion. ## Meanwhile, the fifth Avengers movie, scheduled to be released on 1 May 2026, was originally titled Avengers: Kang Dynasty and was to star Jonathan Majors as time-traveling villain Kang. Chennai, July 17 - Actor Sivakarthikeyan's much-awaited biographical war action film Amaran, based on the book series, India's Most Fearless by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, has been confirmed to hit the big screens on October 31, 2024, in multiple Indian languages.## Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, Amaran is the biopic of Major Mukund Varadarajan (played by Sivakarthikeyan), a commissioned officer in the Indian Army's Rajput Regiment. Mukund Varadarajan was posthumously awarded Ashoka Chakra for his actions during a counterterrorism operation.## The movie is produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International in association with Sony Pictures Films India, and it also stars Sai Pallavi as the female lead alongside Bhuvan Arora, and Rahul Bose, among others.## Amaran will be released on the occasion of the Diwali festival on October 31 and will clash with multiple other films in different languages. Mumbai, July 17 - Superstar Salman Khan-fronted comedy-drama Bajrangi Bhaijaan remains a milestone in his illustrious career and a defining work for director Kabir Khan. The film is widely hailed as one of Salman's finest performances to date, with many critics and fans considering it the emotional peak of his acting journey. ## Released on 17 July 2015, just before Eid, Bajrangi Bhaijaan opened to a thunderous response across the country. Despite the pre-Eid timing, it scored a phenomenal 27+ crore net opening day, among the biggest for a Bollywood film at the time. Mumbai, July 17 - Disney's Pixar blockbuster Inside Out 2 has become the second highest-grossing animated movie of all time at the worldwide box office after topping Universal Pictures' 2023 mega-blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie on its 5th Tuesday. ## The coming-of-age, Inside Out 2 has crossed $1.36 billion (11365+ crores) to beat The Super Mario Bros. Movie's $1.36 billion and is now behind only Frozen 2 ($1.45 billion) which is projected to be outgrossed by next week for IO2 to become the highest-grossing animated title ever.## Directed by Kelsey Mann, IO2 has so far grossed $575+ million in North America and $785+ million overseas over 47 markets. The movie is projected to finish its worldwide box office run at over $1.5 billion gross, making it the first animated movie ever to do so. Hyderabad, July 17 - Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor is making waves in the Tollywood film industry even before her Telugu debut movie Devara Part 1 release. Chennai, July 17 - Vijay Sethupathi's action thriller Maharaja has had a strong debut on Netflix after the excellent box office performance which saw it becoming the first Tamil movie of 2024 to top 100 crores gross worldwide. ## The film, directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, started streaming on Netflix on July 12, four weeks after its theatrical release on June 14. In its opening weekend (July 12 - July 14), Maharaja scored a strong 3.2 million views and was the 4th most-watched non-English movie on Netflix during the same week.## Maharaja had one of the biggest opening weekends for an Indian movie of 2024 on the streamer, beating the likes of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (2.9 million views) and Laapataa Ladies (2.2 million views), and on par with Ajay Devgn's Shaitaan (3.2 million views), among others.## The movie has been trending in the top 10 in 14 countries, including number 1 in India, Sri Lanka, and United Arab Emirates. Mumbai, July 16 - In one of the biggest box office clashes of the year, Shraddha Kapoor's highly-anticipated horror-comedy Stree 2 to battle it out with Akshay Kumar's comedy-drama Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's action drama Vedaa on August 15, Independence Day.## While a three-way clash is always a risky move, the makers of the respective films have already reportedly started blocking screens, confirming that they are in no mood to back out and let go of that lucrative date with a month to go for the release. ## According to the report by Pinkvilla, Stree 2 is running ahead to grab the maximum number of screens against Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa, due to being a highly anticipated movie and strong distribution team. Mumbai, July 16 - Producer Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has issued an official statement on the recent speculations about the remake rights of its action thriller Kill which is currently playing in theatres and doing decent business.## Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, Kill was announced to be remade in Hollywood by John Wick director Chad Stahelski even before the film's official release in India on July 5. Hyderabad, July 16 - Pan India superstar Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD will stay in theatres longer than the recent Telugu biggies, as the team has reportedly confirmed it won't be releasing on the digital platform anytime soon. ## Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD is having a great run at the worldwide box office, already grossing over 950 crores in just 19 days. There were rumours that just like the other recent Telugu movies, Kalki would also be streaming on digital platforms after 4 weeks which has been denied by the makers.## As per Telugu media reports, the sci-fi epic blockbuster will be made available on a digital platform only after 10 weeks of its theatrical release, as per the pre-agreement with the OTT platform which has bought the streaming rights. ## Kalki 2898 AD is a Pan India movie and performed well in every version at the domestic and worldwide box office so far. The extension for the theatrical window is welcome news for theatres though the movie's pace at the box office is slowing down. ## The film stars Prabhas in the leading role alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani, among others. Hyderabad, July 16 - Director Puri Jagannadh and actor Ram Pothineni reunited for the sequel to their blockbuster film iSmart Shankar. It is one of the biggest hits in the career of both Puri and Ram, and now, the duo is looking to repeat the magic with the sequel Double iSmart. ## The last respective films of Puri Jagannadh and Ram Pothineni were box office failures but Double iSmart is expected to bring the duo in winning ways. There is genuine excitement for the movie among moviegoers and the makers have locked record business for the same.## According to Aakashavaani, Prime Show Entertainments, which earlier produced one of the biggest Telugu blockbusters Hanuman, has acquired the worldwide theatrical rights (excluding the Hindi version) of Double Ismart for 60 crores (6 crores recoverable and 54 non-recoverable). The area-wise details are not yet revealed.## The deal is said to be a record for Ram Pothineni and the makers are looking to cash in on the big opportunity upon the film's release on August 15, on Independence Day.
